The Roof, the Roof, the Roof is on Fire.

During my Sophomore year in college, I was awoken in the middle of the night by a frantic phone call from my sister back home in California. She was crying and hyperventilating on the other line to tell me that our house was about to burn down. Between sobs of hysteria, my sister was finally able to coherently spit out that it wasn't actually our house that was on fire. Rather, our neighbor's home was the one a-burnin'. In my sister's defense, the flames were creeping awfully close to our home and all it would have taken was a slight breeze for them to jump from our neighbor's roof to ours.

Using this to pad my opinion, I am sympathetic to catastrophes such as fires and floods, earth quakes and Tsunamis. I repeat, IT WOULD TOTALLY SUCK TO HAVE YOUR HOUSE BURN DOWN! However....

Los Angeles, come on! Don't you guys go up in flames like every year? My cousins almost had to evacuate their home in Monticito due to the raging inferno last summer. It seems like by the end of each August, some part of Southern California is either ablaze or covered in ash.

Without fail, the hills of Los Angeles are once again flaming...figuratively and literally. According to the Associated Press, nearly 12,000 homes are close to smoldering as we speak. What I wanna know is, why did you guys wait until the flames were licking your noses to actually do something about it? At least take a garden hose to the grass or lay a sprinkler on the law. DO SOMETHING!

Perhaps this is just God's way of punishing the wicked. Fire and brimstone, right? And believe you me, Hollywood deserves it! What do you think silicone looks like when it melts?

Ain't Nothing Wrong With Lovin' Chunky

How perfectly fitting. This is my new power song. I'm gonna start making Ry sing it to me.

Sweeter Than Cherry Pie

My Baby Lollipop,
This month has been so much fun! Thanks to our awesome friends Kyle and Brit, we were able to go on a road trip to San Diego again. Last year we took you to Sea World so this time we decided to visit the zoo instead. Since you're so good at animal sounds now, you had so much fun hiking around the zoo and seeing the animals in person.

But the most fun we had together was at the beach. Just like your Mommy, you're going to grow up to love water. The second we stepped foot onto the sand, you were already making a B-line for the ocean. You would have walked right into the crashing waves if I'd have let you! So instead, you spent most of your time at the water's edge, covering yourself in sand. Your favorite thing to do was dig holes in the and and wait 'til a big wave brought water crashing into into. After the sun warmed the trapped water, you climbed in the hole and relaxed in your very own hot tub!

Another fun activity in San Diego was eating lots of yummy foods! You and I went to Heavenly Cupcakes just about every day and bought ourselves a tasty treat! We also lost ourselves in the massive meatball and mashed potato pizza from BASIC. MMMM!!!!!! A not so gourmet meal that you enjoyed was a bowl of chocolatey coco pebbles cereal. When we got home from San Diego, I bought you your very own bag of coco pebbles and Daddy got mad. "Too much sugar!" Well, he didn't seem to mind when I brought you home your very own chocolate dip cone from Dairy Queen the other day!

Little Lolli, you are growing up so quickly. Next month, you'll be in nursery...and we can't wait! Since church is right during your nap time, it's hard to sit through all three of our meetings with you wanting to run all over the place and laugh out loud. But nursery will be so fun for you. Your such a happy little girl and you love playing with toys and with other children. We're so blessed to have such a high-spirited and smiley girl like you!

Though you're getting older, you still haven't grown out of cuddling. Out of nowhere, you'll come up to me, put your face in mine and give me a kiss. Or, you'll crawl up next to me on the couch, throw your arms around my neck, and give me a good squeeze. I hope you never grow out of cuddling, Lolli. I love your warm hugs and I love your sweet kisses! But most of all, I just love my girl.

Your Daddy and I are so proud of the things your learning and the big girl that you're becoming. I hope that as you to grow, you will keep that smile on your face and continue to find happiness in all you do. I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.

xoxo
Mommy

Hash House Celebs

Remember this "little" delight from my trip to Vegas last year that I blogged about?

Well, Ryan and I were recently watching reruns of Man v. Food on the travel channel. In his search for HUGE meal portions and ridiculous food challenges, host Adam Richman decides to lend his patronage to none other than Hash House A-Go-GO in Vegas.

While he didn't try his hand at the pancakes, Adam opted for Hash's famous Sage Fried Chicken and Waffles.

Still, I feel like Adam and I are now most intimately connected.

So, who won?

On the last episode of Megan Wants a Millionaire, Ryan took Meg out for a spin in an Astin Marten then wined and dined her at some fancy-schmancy French restaurant. At the end of the date, Ry got all kinds of kissy-kissy with Megan. During that lip-lock, did Megan know she was in the arms of a killer????

That's right. According to news reports, Ryan Jenkins murdered his wife, skipped town, then hung himself in a Canadian motel room. And just because a guy strangles his wife, cuts off her fingers, pulls out all her teeth, and stuffs her in a suitcase...they've gotta yank Megan Wants a Millionaire off the air???? Now what am I supposed to do with my Monday nights? How am I ever gonna know who won!??!

PS
Did you know that silicone breast implants have serial numbers on them? Yeah, neither did Ryan Jenkins.

Tweet, Tweetly-Tweet

I'm finally on Twitter, ya'll. I'm slowly but surely taking over every online social networking site. My plan for world domination is shaping up nicely.

Follow me, if you're so inclined.

Hit By a Train

So I thought that maybe my back just hurt because I pinched a nerve or something. But after trying to rest all day and night, I woke up this morning feeling even worse. I honestly can't walk! Well, I can...kinda. I can only walk if I'm hunched over, leaning on something, sitting to rest every 5 feet. Seriously. I can't straighten my back. If I do, pain shoots down my lower back, through my butt, and down to my legs and feet. Sitting on the couch right now, my back is throbbing and my feet are tingling. Pretty sure that's not kosher.

As soon as Lolli wakes up, the husbandia is gonna take me to Insta-care. Hopefully they'll be able to straighten me out...literally. This week is such a busy week at work. I really can't afford to miss a day. And if they can't fix my back? Well, I pray that they at least prescribe me some Vicodin to quell the pain. If not, I'm just gonna tell them to pull the plug. Nice knowing ya.

Let everyone hear, go sing your heart out

I recently had an aesthetic experience, this time with a sweet, young thing named Melissa Polinar.

Bedridden due to a pinched nerve, I sat behind my laptop, syphoning through YouTube videos for the millionth time, trying to find a new and talented singer/songwriter I had yet to discover. After watching the thousandth cover of Love Song and Bleeding Love, I was about to abandon all hope when I stumbled upon Ms. Polinar.  If her cover of Beyond the Blue Horizon on an ukulele wasn't enough to win me over, her original song Sing to Me sealed the deal. And the part that sent chills down my spine? Skip to about 2:40. With her jazzy vocals and rockin' acoustic rifs, this songstress is full of soul.

Sing to me, girl!

Plug for Math Department

Many of us have the misunderstanding that math is string of formulas, theories, and equations that requires hours of memorization. Even more frustrating is the misconception that math doesn't apply to our everyday lives beyond balancing a checkbook or paying a mortgage. But in reality, math will help you with more in life than by simply saving you money on car insurance. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are the foundation to any successful career, and mathematics is the gateway to strengthening those abilities.

As corporations begin to rely more heavily on mathematical modeling to reach its truest potential, the demand for innovative mathematicians has sky rocketed. Industries are overflowing with job opportunities for those with mathematical ability. And to promote such opportunities, the Brigham Young University Department of Mathematics has created whenwilliusemath.com in an attempt to reveal the numerous career options available in mathematics.

On this website, you will not only find mathematical careers, salaries, and job requirements, but you will also find tips and advice on how to succeed in mathematics, introductions to new mathematical discoveries, and even tidbits on the role math plays in pop-culture. This website also offers resources for math instructors or those struggling with bringing to light the applicability and practicality of mathematics. Teachers are encouraged to participate in the forums to brainstorm curriculum ideas, exchange lesson plans, and to simply find support.

Additionally, the BYU Math Department has created posters, sweat bands, t-shirts, and other displayable materials advertising the diverse opportunities in mathematics. These materials, along with ordering instructions, are available on our site.

Overall, the goal of our website is to promote the life-long study of mathematics. We hope that our efforts will cultivate a greater understanding and love for math.

The more math you know, the more options you have! Please explore our website and utilize the resources available to discover some of the countless opportunities in mathematics.

Sundays are for Worship

Anyone out there an ABDC fan? Well, I am. BIG time! And don't you know it, another season has just begun. Episode 1 just aired last Sunday but already I have my favorite groups picked out. Massive Monkees pull the most insane tricks! Rhythm City is so raw and street. But hands down, my most favorite group is Vogue Evolution.

A group of bedazzled and sequined mahus, spinning, twirling, and cat-walking? YES PLEASE!!!! I'll take glitter and tiaras any day! FABULOUS! I hope the Jabbawockeez don't find out that I'm cheating on them!

PDA

I'm all about being affectionate with your loved ones. In fact, I'm a very touchy-feely person. My entire family is. We love hugs, back rubs, tickles, and especially little baby lovies. But leave it up to idiot BYU students to take it one step further and ruin it for the rest of us.

On my first day back to work, the last thing I wanna see is a geeky couple sucking face on campus; but of course, that's exactly what I'm greeted with the second I pull up to the office. And even worse? Their make-out session is taking place in a car idling right in front of the parking space I'm trying to pull in to. So, in order to claim my spot, I've gotta sit  and watch this crap until they come up for air and decide to move their car. By the time they're finally done, there's an entire line of traffic spilling out of the parking lot and back into the street.

"Oh, don't mind us. We're just playing a little tonsil hockey while we block the flow of traffic and make everyone late for work...and sick"

Nasty and inconsiderate. Thanks.
