Key Chain

So, I FINALLY got a new key chain.
May the Jeep Liberty rest in peace.

My Life as a Musical

I dream of living life as a musical. I look forward to the day when I'm waiting in line at the grocery store or pumping gas and the world around me randomly breaks out in to song.

Girl After My Own Heart

Lâlea, licking Nutella off of her fingers.

She's truly her mother's daughter!

Feelin' Fat

Ugh!! Get all this Easter candy away from me! Snickers Eggs and Peeps aren't helping out these 30 pounds STILL lingering from the 65 I gained when I was pregnant. And how do I plan on running any races this summer if I'm buying vats of Nutella every time I'm at the grocery store?

"Inside me is a skinny woman screaming to get out, but I can usually shut her up with chocolate."

Damn food.

April Showers

Remember how on Monday it was summer?

Yeah, I sure did wake up this morning to about a foot of snow.

Gross.

I'm Talkin About an 8-Piece!

This morning, I decided to stop by the Jamba Juice on campus and enjoy a tasty morning treat. As I was sipping on my Mango Mantra on the way back to the office, I reminisced about my time working at Jamba during high school. One memory in particular came to mind...

I was working the register and a gentleman stepped up to order. After much deliberation, he finally asked me what smoothie I recommended.

"My favorite's the Aloha Pineapple. But, maybe that's just because I'm Hawaiian."

The gentleman smirked and answered back, "Well, I'm Black. You got any that taste like fried chicken?!"

In retrospect, I should have offered him a Kool-Aid or watermelon flavored smoothie instead.

Dang.

Senate Bill 81

Last year, senate bill 81 was passed by lawmakers in an effort to crack down on illegal immigration in the state of Utah. Come July, this law goes into effect. According to KSL, "Senate Bill 81 makes it more difficult for illegal immigrants to get a job and to utilize some government services. But the responsibility of enforcement falls on police." Well, guess the SLC police department didn't get that memo.

The Salt Lake City Police Chief has decided that his department will not participate in this law. WTF?!? You mean this entire time I could have been cherry-picking the laws I wanted to follow??!! Wearing a seat belt in the car...yes. Yielding to emergency vehicles...nah. Driving on the right side of the road...no thanks, I like the left. Think of all the time I could have saved by blowing past those speed limit signs at my own pace!

Or maybe the luxury of opting out of laws is only offered to law enforcement officers. Hmm...that's an ironic statement. You can't tell me there's never been a time when an off-duty COP hasn't turned on his sirens just so he could be on time for the 8 o'clock showing of Fast & Furious.

So if the police aren't going to protect our streets, who will??

Somebody call Nicky Hilton.

1 Year in the Making

Birthday Girl-
About a month ago, you turned 1 year old. To celebrate, we had a big luau at the church. All of our friends and family came to play with you that day! Even your Hawaiian auntie and cousins flew in for the big event!

There was so much yummy food to eat like kalua pig and chicken long rice. There were also some fun activities like a bouncy house and a piñata. We even had a little program in which cousins and auntie danced and sang. Cousin Seyna was amazing!!!

Less amazing was Mommy's attempt at hula. The best part, though, was when Daddy had to get on stage and "dance" Tahitian. He was REALLY embarrassed but was such a good sport about it all!

As a special treat, Chris B. made you a birthday cake. It was a tiny, Lolli sized carrot cake complete with fondant flowers. You sat in your birthday throne, digging into the cake with two hands! Surprisingly, you didn't get that messy! You're so dainty!

When it was finally time to bring the party to an end and go home, it took about 5 trips to the car just to load up all the presents you got. You had TONS and TONS of gifts! You sure are one loved little girl!!!

In your first year alone, you've already brought great joy to those around you. Your beautiful, bright eyes and silly Sponge Bob smile make it impossible not to delight in your company.

I look forward to all the years ahead of us and an eternity full of joy, delight, and laughter.
I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.

xoxo
Mommy

Octo Mom = Play Boy Bunny????

I guess this is old news by now, but it's still new to me; Nadya Suleman was offered 1 million big ones from Vivid Entertainment to star in a "movie." Even better, if she agrees to do multiple movies, Vivid will give her family full medical and dental benefits. Stop exploiting yourself, Octo Mom. Get a real job. You're sick.
