Piano

I think we officially have our bossy oldest child. She loves to be in charge, get her way, and have everyone else listen to exactly what she says. Playing the piano and singing was definitely a favorite pass time at Grandma's house.
Especially when she had an audience. She would demand that you come in and sit on the couch across the room.
If you didn't comply with her wishes you definitely heard about it...
...until you did. And then you were serenaded until she felt she was all done. Sam warned me that I better prep myself for many choir performances in the future. Let's just hope that it is cool at her school just like it was at Sam's :)

So You Think You Can Dance

Our California Days consisted mostly of lounging around the house in diapers, taunting Rex, and scattering toys about.
Our evenings weren't too much different. I'm thinking I should attempt to hold myself up like this while I watch TV so I too can have abs of steel.
Also, I am pretty sure she won so you think you can dance last night...
Sam assured me that we will have to move where ever Dana or Rachel end up so they can be her dance teachers.

Sprinklers

The reward for finishing your whole sandwich and drinking up all of your milk at lunch?
A nice refreshing run through the sprinklers.
I am pretty sure she was braver as a 2 year old than I was at 8. I remember spending the majority of my sprinkler running on the driveway laying on my towel attempting to dry off the 7 drops that landed on me during my 3 second sprint across the corner of the lawn. This little dare devil just stormed right into the middle of the lawn and spent most of her time leap frogging over the middle sprinklers. Now hopefully her father learns quickly that white onesies become see through when they get all wet, and regular diapers become a wad of mushy goop.

Car Wash

Sometimes you just have to wash the car on a beautiful 75 degree sunny southern California day.
And of course that means that Bailey must help out. After her eager efforts of spraying the car down with the hose we managed to transfer her attention over to the wash cloth and bucket of soap.
 Hard at work...
And of course she is on her way back to re-soak her rag. Sam kept telling me to stop letting her reach into the bucket because she was wasting all the soapy water and there wouldn't be enough to finish all 3 cars. I told him I would monitor her, but of course venturing near Bails with any sort of liquid means I get very wet so I just let it play out and hoped for a happy outcome.
Plus hanging out with this cute girl in the shade was much more desirable.
Even if it did mean that I had to pick up that yellow bowl and wagon toy off the ground about a thousand times. Yes, that nasty game is now upon us.
And it is becoming very apparent that when Sam starts school again I am going to be very outnumbered by a couple of smarty pants that now know it. I am starting to get really scared.

Smart Hide N Seek

Hiding behind a see through door may not be the best way to go...

unless of course that door happens to be the treat closet. Now if she could only fix the sqeaky hinges so she could enter without being noticed...

Yard Work

One day Sam did a little yard work. He climbed up into the big tree and cut one of the branches down so he could fill up the yard waste can while my Dad was out of town.

The little girls were stuck inside while he was doing it so that no branches landed on top of them. That meant having to break out some new toys to keep them entertained and not throwing a tantrum because they couldn't go outside (And by them I mean Bailey because Hazel has yet to throw a tantrum).

As soon as the branch was in the trash can Bails was outside ready to help clean up the mess...

Climb on the wall...
And get soaked by the hose...

Revenge is sweet, eh Sam?
I'm not sure who had more fun: Bailey running around in the water or Sam getting to squirt her.

Walk the Dog

Rex Rex Rex. He loves my Mom and Dad more than anything. He was so sad when he saw everyone pile into the car to head to the airport and only Sam returned. He moped around the rest of the day and night and then at 6 am he came running into the room wanting to go on a walk.

So the whole 10 days my parent's were gone Bailey and Rex got 2 walks a day. We still aren't sure exactly who walked who but it was amazing to see Bailey's fear of dogs slowly fade away. Bailey's run and Rex's trot were perfectly aligned and the two would trek out on their own almost the entire way. Their first go at it I kept thinking Bailey was going to drop dead of heat exhaustion because she ran about a mile before we finally forced her to stop, take a drink and sit in the stroller. After taking the leash out of her hands you would have thought we took her last candy bar away.

It was hilarious to watch Rex stop to sniff a mailbox and then Bailey tug on the leash to force him along. Then Bails would stop to watch some kids run by and Rex would pull her along. The only bad news was when Rex would find a rabbit, lizard or another dog. Then he would charge and Bails would hold tight to the leash and get dragged along usually resulting in a skinned knee or elbow. By the end of the trip Sam had a pretty good mental note of the common locations of lizards, rabbits and the houses that had barking dogs so he would manage to grab Bailey's arm and then she would go airborne between the leash and Sam; quick acting Daddy.

Of course Hazel would spend every walk just looking around like her usual angel self.

Five Year Anniversary

To celebrate five years of marriage we decided to do a little breakfast at Eggs n things. It was delicious as always. After breakfast we came back and did our chores. We walked the dog and watered the yard and then put the little girls down for their naps. After naps we headed down to zuma for a little beach afternoon.

It took forever to find a parking spot, but after that it was smooth sailing. We got our little camp set up and then changed the little girls into their swim suits.

We saw a helicopter and tons of nasty seagulls which Bails just loved.

Then we headed down to the water. It was ice cold so after a few minutes I took Hazel back up to the shade while Sam and Bails kept playing.

Hazel kept trying to grab the sand and eat it so she got moved into the center of the towels so she could at least grab at the food and water.

After awhile of playing Bails came back up all wet.

Apparently she had a blast playing in the water. She would find rocks and then just start charging the water to throw it in. She would turn and run when a big wave was coming, or she would just keep running towards it and just pray you were paying attention and could keep her from getting swept out to sea. She was fearless which was absolutely terrifying.

She also did not need the five minutes of adjustment time to let your limbs go numb and not shudder at the waters temperature. She was just ready to play. I guess she has a little bit of Uncle Robby in her too.

She did enjoy her time of cuddling in a towel and eating chips as well.

And then we headed back up to TO to finish off the day with some Topper's Pizza. Nothing says anniversary and I love you like the best pizza in the world.

Happy Anniversary Sam! Can't believe it has been 5 years. When did we get so grown up? (at least age wise, maybe not maturity wise). I love you so much. I am so glad I get to spend eternity with you.
