Equal Opportunity Parenting

I spent Saturday at a swim meet with Melina. Andy and I agreed that he would stay home with the younger kids. Melina and I left the house at six in the morning and returned a little after 9:30 that night. Home meets are generally only two to three hours long, but this was a much bigger meet. It was an hour away and we had a three hour break between the two sessions. There was quite a crowd in the aquatic center and my cell phone was being strange. I received a few texts from Andy. He mentioned laundry and dishes he had done and that he'd attached the headboard to Audrey's bed. I told him he was a Super Mr. Mom. When I came home, I learned that I had not received most of the texts he sent me, such as...

Max puked twice.
Furnace quit -- at store for part to try to jimmy-rig it.
Max seems fine now. He's running around.
Heat working again.
Audrey napped because I promised her ice cream if she slept.
I forgot we're out of ice cream.
I'm stuck at Macy's with a flat tire *%#$. Kids home alone. Don't know how long this will take.
I have no one's number in my cell, I deleted them on accident.
Remind me why I didn't sign up for AAA.
Called Reed (ward member who had called him this morning). He's with kids.
Josh called from Reed's phone. He wants to know if ice cream is melted.
Home now. I put spare on my car.
I don't like being Mom.

anniversary month

pardon the puffed sleeves, it was 1996, and also I've never had any fashion sense anyway...

It's May. Andy and I were married in May fourteen years ago. Without waxing nostalgic or sentimental, (oh who am I kidding?) I plan to share a few of the why-I-love-him-isms.

Firstly, he's got his priorities straight.

Case in point: last night he brought me a Ritter Sport and he brought the kids Kit Kats. Chocolate is one of his love languages. He has a sculpture of Nutella jars. Serious.

I'm not even sure what the phrase "love language" means. I haven't read a relationship book since Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus (duh). I like being his one and only. I think that's all I need to know.
