Need an FHE activity for tonight?

I play bass in the TSO. Our concert tonight is a free, fun, family-friendly show. It will make a great FHE activity, if you're into that sort of thing.

Paris is always a good idea.

Oh Happy Day is giving away a trip to Paris. I want to win. Oh yes I do!

I want to tour the Louvre with my husband. I want to see the Eiffel Tower and experience Winged Victory, visit Maison la Roche, eat crepes and watch him snap a bazillion photos.

Aside from the obvious reasons (It's Paris!), here's why I want to go. He's an artist. I'm a writer and a musician. It's a crazybusybeautiful life we have here with our family. We have never gone away as a couple. (Overnight stays in the hospital don't count.) He works a lot. By a lot I mean he works as a graphic designer full-time, occasionally as an event photographer, then comes home to join in our family activities and routines. After all that he works most nights into the wee hours of the morning freelancing.

We're living our dreams, albeit sometimes blurry-eyed. We are raising our four hilarious kids and we still get to do what we love. He's got an eye for beauty and light. It seems that luminescence runs in his veins. I write and perform in local orchestras. Our life is rounded out with plenty of cheering for our kids on the sidelines -- of soccer games, swim meets and concerts followed by laughter and shared meals around our dinner table.

Celebrating our 15th year of marriage with a trip to Paris would be magnifique.

three recent epiphanies

Losing my tweezers means there will be tweezing emergencies. Ugly ones. Immediately.

My Summer Success (Survival) Strategy = Exhaust the Kids. Every day. For us, this includes 7 AM swim team practice, 9:30 AM soccer camp and a whole slew of bike rides, hikes, field trips and more.

I have some twisted ESP. Case in point - On the way to my orchestra rehearsal, I started to panic a bit that I had forgotten my bow. I pulled over to see if I had it with me. I was wrong, my bow was right there in my bass case. But.....dum-da-dum... my stand partner arrived at rehearsal without his bow.
