you are hereby invited to enjoy some local culture

Dear Friends,

Remember how I play bass? Well, now I play with another orchestra.

The TSO is new and awesome. We have our first concerts April 8th and 9th. I'm giddy that we're performing music by some of my favorite composers. I'm quite partial to the Russians.

You are very cordially invited. Here's the ad just so you know it's official and all.

I hope you can come!

Sincerely,
Rynell

double duty

I work from home. I write stuff. Sometimes it's decent, sometimes it's drivel. It's amazing what people pay for these days! When Audrey refuses to nap or doesn't feel well, I trick her into looking at family photos in iPhoto. It's magical-- like a little bit of melatonin.

(Yes, she is too old for a binkie. No, I haven't taken it away.)

proof that I am getting old

The tune "Love is All Around" is stuck in my head, but with slightly different lyrics.

I feel it in my back bone
I feel it in my toes
rain is in the forecast
and so my hip joints groan

It's in my double helix,
it is everywhere I go
Yes, arthritis is in me,
even though it doesn't show.

my other life

I'm mostly a mom. You know that. Here's something else. I also play bass in an orchestra. For reals. Classical music. Our concert last night featured some great soloists. We also performed Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony. This was my first concert in a r e a l l y long time, folks. Good old Pyotr likes lots of notes. Our conductor liked to take these notes mighty fast. It all turned out well.

I thought I'd have a photo for you, but I was almost completely invisible on stage. Some of my family spotted my forehead, others could see my left hand and the top of my instrument. It was a weird stage, but the sound was alright. If I had known I would be next to invisible, I would not have spent as much time worrying about and finagling with my hair. One concert down, many more to go.
