Happy New Year and happy me

After several weeks of not being able to do anything creative, I have been enjoying being part of an online class "Remains of the Day ~ a shabby journal of scraps".
This is the journal cover all folded up -
the wrap around tie is made from
the off cuts from silk sari's.The open cover - it was great to use some of the scraps of fabric I have had around for awhile. The inside of the cover. I didn't bother to embellish it anymore as I love it as it is.And my first attempt at free form sewing!

You can still sign up to do the class, you know you want to!
Just head over to Mary Ann's blog for the details.

Congratulations to Shirley, (not you Auntie Shirley!)you are the winner of my blog giveaway.
Thank you to all who entered.
I've emailed you privately as well so that you can tell me which prize you would like.

A short post, I know but hopefully I will be back at the end of the day for more of a chat.

Two posts ago, I asked for help in locating an artist and I am happy to say that my blogging friends came to my rescue, which has alleviated this aging brain in trying to remember her name.
Funny thing is that I have an old friend with the same name, surely I would have remembered!
Treann had offered the name of Emily Martin from The Black Apple - she does gorgeous work too and then I stumbled across the work of Cori Dantini which I love, she combines vintage papers in her art.....Finally Jo has found my artist though, it is Leanne Ellis
- thank you Jo & Treann for helping to solve the puzzle,
now I just have to work out which prints I want to order,
it might have to be one from each artist, I think.

Yippee

This may not be a "Yippee" moment for you, but for me, it is an achievement! For those of you with blogs, who have "Rustic Tarts" on your blog, you may notice that our blog has been updated - and not just showing our last post as being from 4 months ago. I have spent hours taking everything off our blog and then re-adding it all again and it is now working. (I think...LOL)
My parents are off to Perth tomorrow morning to watch my nephew play in the Under 18's State Cricket Championships - they were concerned about the heat until they realised that they had lived there for 16 years and survived! Samuel has done really well on his first day taking 3 wickets for 15 runs and then 2 for 10.
It has made us all want to go over for a holiday but instead we get to pick all their strawberries while they are away!! I think some strawberry icecream might be happening.
The cherubs have started Vacswim this week so we have been down at the beach each morning - the weather has actually been really good so far. Tomorrow it is a dodge tide so they might end up playing beach games and doing safety lessons rather than swimming much.
