Nathan is 30 years old today and I am working on his birthday montage but it will be a while before it is ready so I posted this small video. Nathan and Jenny had these pictures made recently. They are great pictures! When Mike and I got married I was 21 and Nathan was 12. He was alot easier to raise as a teenager than his younger sisters are :) He had to put up with me as his stepmom throughout his teen years. I told him when he was getting ready to be 21 to remember this is how old I was when I became his stepmom and then to forgive me for all the mistakes I made :) I love you Nathan.~Rachel

What can I say I am a week behind, but I did get it done:) Here is Noah's birthday montage. You will notice it does not start with a picture of him as a newborn because he joined our family when he was 4 years and 10 months old. As you know we turned to adoption to add to our family when infertility took the option of giving birth to any more children away from us. We were blessed with Sarah and Jacob as soon as they were born. When we felt it was time to adopt again we decided to adopt a child who was older, in foster care and hard to adopt. After many ups and downs and a long wait Noah joined our family. I chose the first song that plays in his montage because it talks about older children who need a forever home. Noah also has a diagnosis of Infantile Autism. I always said that I felt I could bond and care for any child as my own except for a child with Autism. The Lord works in mysterious ways and here I am the mother of a child with Autism. We are so thankful that Noah is a part of our eternal family. He says thank you for loving me every day through his beautiful smile. He is safe, happy, needed and loved. I hope you enjoy his birthday tribute. We love ya Little guy!!

Spring Break

 

This week is spring break and it has been so nice not having to be any where at a certain time. The kids and I have enjoyed relaxing, but poor Mike had to go to work all week. There were not many surgeries posted for the week so he has come home early most days. Today we all went to the park to play and enjoy the beautiful Spring-like weather. Ashley and Katy went for a walk and Ashley took these photos. Sarah, Noah, Jacob and I played on the playground while Mike and Hannah hung out in the shade. Jacob laughed out loud as we swang together on the swing, Noah was getting really good at the monkey bars(with mom's help of course :). Sarah loved being outside and was a big help to her brothers as they all played together. I tried to swing Hannah on the swings but that did not last very long. She is still kinda grumpy from the changes after her surgery. All in all a beautiful fun day!

Back to Normal and a fun Christmas Present

We are all getting back to our normal schedules after Hannah's surgery and then the family all getting a GI virus.

For Christmas my mom and dad got us tickets to Bass Hall. My dad said to choose the concert and then let him know. We chose to see The Chieftains and went to their concert February 23rd. It was so nice to get away and get our minds off of Hannah's upcoming surgery. We had such a great time!!!! Mike and I love music. I have always loved to learn about and listen to music from different cultures.
The concert included step dancers, the Fort Worth Bagpipes and Drums Group and five local,young step dancers in tradional clothing. The instraments that were used were; the bodhran, fiddle, wooden flute, uilleann pipes, guitar, harp, and bagpipes. We really enjoyed the evening!!!
