Front Panels Finished

The flooring on the second level is complete and Euclid is finishing installing the wall panels. The front panels are all in and they are working on the right and left back walls. 

Future Fireplace

This picture is taken from the second floor looking toward the master bedroom. A future fireplace will rise between the beams on this side of the floor joists. 

Breakfast Anyone?

The windows in the background are in the breakfast bay. I am standing in the dining room and looking through a portion of the kitchen. The window on the far left will be in a pantry, which will be eventually delininated by a wall on the outside of the beams shown on the left. One of our interior design/architecture consultants, Abby Hatch, is shown appropriately bundled for a nice Red Pine Canyon fall day. 

Karen in the Library

This is a view from the second floor library. Doors to future bedrooms will be under the horizontal beams shown at the right and left of the picture. The vaulted-ceiling great room starts at the beam where the floor joists terminate. 

View from Driveway

Coming up the driveway you will see a french door off the master bedroom (large opening on right which will open onto a future deck), and two windows to the master bath and closet. The master bath is supported by the large gluelam beam shown in the picture. 

Extending Right

The four small windows at the right of the picture are for a master closet. The beam and post supporting this extension can also be seen at the lower right of the picture. 

Up in the Snow

This week we got over one foot of snow. The main floor panels are all up and we are moving to the second level. 

Structurally Insulated Panels - SIPs

The Euclid crew is putting up the SIPs walls and I (Paul) am following behind them framing the second floor. The large openning is for the front door. The dining room is in the center of the photo with two doors flanking a post. 

View From the Library

I stood on some beams in the left-center of the library to get this shot. 

View from South Hill

I climbed up the hill behind the house (opposite side of the home as the driveway) to get this perspective. Two more bents have been added to the back of the home (greatroom), which are shown in this view. 

Right Bents Go Up

Today Euclid began working on the right side of the home. 

Cupola In Place

This picture is taken from up the hill in the front yard. We have reached total height.

View From Breakfast Room

The arch shown separates the breakfast room from the kitchen. The arch in the background is the entry into the dining room. 

Looking into the Kitchen

This view is from the great room looking into the kitchen. The six inch wide beams shown are connecting the larger beams on the kitchen ceiling. 

Timber lines on the Left

OK, from this picture of the back of the house they are on your right. Euclid is now constructing the left side of the house. The bent next to the crain, that seems to be held in place by one post, is in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Fall has come to Red Pine Canyon. 

Soon the Cupola

The reinforcing arches and such continue to be assembled to the first four bents. Euclid is currently working on the Cupola

Connecting the Bents

Today the fourth bent was raised and the process of connecting one bent to another was begun.

The Timberframe

September 5th, 2006 - We are finally raising the timberframe. Euclid, led by Joey, are putting together the puzzle pieces and using a crane to tilt up the 'bents'. This is the first one to be set in the great room area. The floor is warmboard which will eventually have radiant heat tubes running in the groves.

This is an earlier picture, before the radient warmboard was finished on the right side of the floor. The floor joists are evident. The metal ('b decking') on the porch area will support 6 inches of concrete that was poured on Friday September 8th (picture coming).

A Euclid Puzzle

Our timberframe company, Euclid, is building all the components of our timberframe at their shop in Charleston, Utah. They number the components and assemble them in the shop. After some minor fine tuning, they disassemble and send the puzzle to the job site where it is reassembled.

Four steel beams were installed over the garage

Basement timbers and beams

Following the foundation, basement timbers and four steel beams were installed to support the timber frame on the main floor and above. These basement timbers are connected to the timber frame above by a plate bolted through the subfloor
