I don't have any pictures to share today, but I did want to play along with Fill in the Blanks Friday over at The Little Things We Do.
1. Something that is very near and dear to my heart is my family.
2. Our freedom is a good cause to celebrate. I can't imagine living in a country where I could not worship the Lord and move around freely.
3. The most fun I ever had was when my parents took us on a cruise to Alaska. Daddy rented the penthouse on the Holland America cruise ship and we had plenty of room and a big deck to sit out on. It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
4. True friends are the ones that keep your confidences and do not talk behind your back.
5. Something that makes me terribly happy is my pugs (my children.) They make me happy every single day!
6. A good way to spend a sunny day is on a road trip to do a little eating and looking around in places like Seaside, Florida.
7. My favorite celebratory food is CAKE. I love cake. There is not a cake that I won't eat!

oil and vinegar store
Last Friday, Aunt Sue and I went downtown to check out a new store. The Bodacious Olive. They sell different olive oils, organic and infused; vinegars, infused and aged; and fresh pasta, some cheeses and fresh baked breads and some flowers and a few other items. It was so nice to be able to try the oils and vinegars before buying.
Here is the fresh pasta that was made. I didn't plan to purchase any that day, but was told that it might be best to call ahead and order. Fresh pasta taste so much better than the kind you get that's so dry. I am looking forward to fixing a dinner with some soon.
You can walk around and try the different vinegars and oils. There are small sample cups to use. Just put a small amount and taste. There is bread sliced for dipping into the oils, too. This lady is putting the vinegar I chose into a bottle. They had sold out of all the small-size bottles so I got the next size up. I'll have plenty of this vinegar for a while.
I tried most of the oils. The butter oil was so good. Tasted just like popcorn butter. The blood orange was getting a lot of attention from the store staff.
This is the area where they bake the bread and make the pasta.
The vinegars were infused with so many different flavors. My very favorite was the coconut white balsamic. It was so good. I will buy some when they get the small bottles back in stock. The fig and the pomegranate both were very good. I had a hard time deciding which flavor to get. I did get the cranberry pear white balsamic.
This is my vinegar and some sesame sticks I bought. I'm going to wrap some bacon around those sticks and cook them in the oven and roll them in Parmesan cheese. Direct recipe from Paula Deen. I have a recipe that I'm going to use the vinegar with. I'll post it here whenever I get around to getting it done.
Aunt Sue is already asking when are we going back. She loves bread and olive oil and loves to taste vinegar!

my birthday and mother's day
Today is my birthday, and the husband and I went to the beach and sat in our chairs and watched the sun set. One of my favorite things to do. Seaweed had washed up on the beach, and the little bird was inspecting to see what it could get.
Yesterday was Mother's Day, and Aunt Sue and I went over to mama and daddy's to have lunch. We took these flowers to mama that we got at the farmer's market.
Here is the parents' doggy, Mouseman. He is a huge baby.
Here's Mother's day lunch. Shrimp with homemade sauce and Cesar salad using the romaine lettuce I got at the farmer's market. Fresh lettuce is so good. And fresh bread from the seafood market. Yummy. I could eat this every day.
I made my grandmother's chocolate cake recipe for my birthday cake and took it over to the parents for us to eat...and we did. And I, of course, ate the most! I put a double batch of icing on it! It's fun to make your own cake because you can do what you want!
