Disney Day 3

Today is Wednesday on the trip. We started out early at Magic Kingdom thinking that the park was open early for resort guests. But I was wrong. We were waiting at the front entrance to Magic Kingdom and the train drives up with Mickey and some dancers and the Mayor of Main Street. They were singing and dancing and had a countdown to the rope drop. Aunt Sue is always singing "Good Morning, Good Morning..." after seeing that opening show.

When the rope dropped, I have never seen so many people pouring into a place. It was fun to watch. There were some grownups just running to get where they wanted to go. The kids could not keep up with them. We saw a some stroller wrecks and bigger kids trying to ride on the stroller to keep up with mom and dad. We were laughing..it was funny to see the grownups acting crazy.

We started off the day in Adventure Land and rode Pirates of the Caribbean and the Jungle River Cruise.

The mine train ride in Frontier Land was being worked on.

We rode the train several times to cool off and get off our feet. You can take the train from the front of Magic Kingdom to Frontier Land and get off right at the entrance to Splash Mountain.





Several times a day there was this little show at the castle. My camera did a pretty good job of zooming in.



Lunch today was at Crystal Palace. Aunt Sue picked this on a recommendation from a friend. It's a buffet with plenty of food, but not much of anything we wanted. Desserts were the best thing on the buffet. It was so noisy that we could not hear each other talk.

The next three pictures are about Tom Sawyer's island. You ride a raft-type structure over and explore a little bit.



There was a little musical show on Main Street in Magic Kingdom. Horse was pulling the trolley.

The people mover in Tomorrow Land. Aunt Sue really enjoyed this ride. She cannot ride backwards, so I got to ride going backward while she was facing forward.


This is the Dole Whip float. Oh my it's so very good. I got one this afternoon in the adventure land area of Magic Kingdom. Aunt Sue had the Dole Whip without the float part. The float part is just pure pineapple juice with the pineapple whip part on top. This is one of my favorite things this trip.

This is Club Cool in Epcot. It's sponsored by Coca Cola. The round kiosk have drink dispensers around them. They are soda drinks from different countries in the world. My favorite was a ginger drink. I cannot remember what country it was from. Aunt Sue tried a really bitter one from Italy. It was nice to stop in when we were thirsty.

This evening we had dinner at Yachtman's Steakhouse. This restaurant is in the Yacht Club Resort, so we didn't have to get transportation to get here. It was good. I only wish the steaks were had been cooked the way we asked. But we didn't say anything to them. We ate them. We had lobster bisque and a cheese plate for appetizers and we had the chocolate whiskey cake for dessert. We took the cake back to the room with us because we were too full to eat it.

Disney trip day 2

I'm so glad you all are enjoying the pictures and post on the Disney trip. We had such a good time. I have to say my pictures are not as good as I would like, but most of the time I was just snapping as fast as I could and not taking time to focus. I'm not loving this Nikon camera. I think my Canon was better.
Little Tweedles asked if we rode some rides...and we did. We both can't ride the good roller-coaster-type rides anymore, but we did ride slower rides. Our favorite ride was Splash Mountain. We must have ridden it 8 times or more. And we always asked to get the back seat because you don't get as wet. One time we got the third seat, and it was a bit more splash on us. We loved Test Track and Pirates of the Caribbean and rode those a good bit, too. The Splash Mountain ride had the longest lines and we only got a fast pass twice. Fast Pass is great. I don't know how the roller coaster ride lines were moving because we never even went by them.

On Tuesday, Aunt Sue went to the food area on our floor and got some breakfast. Then we left the hotel and took the back walkway over to Epcot. This walkway makes a circle around the Epcot resorts: Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk Villas. Aunt Sue would walk around the whole circle sometimes after dinner and then one time in the morning. The walkway also goes all the way over to Hollywood Studios. We went to Hollywood studios by boat (by accident) we got on the wrong boat. But we never went into Hollywood studios. We had park hopper tickets but there wasn't anything in that park that we wanted to do so we opted not to go in. I wanted a Butterfinger cupcake and I texted Lisa at Pixie and Pirates Destinations to ask her where they were because I could not find them. They were in Hollywood Studios park at "Starring Rolls" bakery. Oh, well, I never did get that cupcake. But I got plenty of other goodies.

We started out Tuesday at Epcot. Aunt Sue wanted to ride the Maelstrom ride in the Norway area. It's a boat ride. This picture shows a part of it where that waterfall is there. It's a boat ride. You can find most rides on You Tube if you want to see what they are like. I went in the bakery in this Norway area and the items looked good but it was too early to get anything.
This is Germany. Now...they have a candy/bakery store that has all things caramel. I got two things here...didn't take a picture of them. They were yummy!
This is China area. The different countries have people from that country working in the area.

This is the Canada area. This garden area was so pretty. Can't believe it's winter when you see this!
This is more of the Canada area. You see the entrace to that rock formation...that's where we ate lunch that afternoon. It's a steak restaurant called Le Cellier. It was one of the best meals we had there.

Aunt Sue and I got the same thing at Le Cellier. I did not take pictures like I should have of the food. This is the filet with a mushroom risotto. I do not like mushrooms...but I ate this anyway! It was very good. We had the cheese soup and pretzel bread and then we had a dessert. I can't remember what it was now.

We saw Pooh and Tigger greeting little ones. I like to see the little children loving on the characters.

Mary Poppins was so polite and had an accent.

We came into the park in the mid afternoon, too late to see much of the parade that was already in progress.



This is the Test Track ride in Epcot. We really enjoyed it. The ride will be shut down for a period of time soon to be refurbished. I wonder what they will do differently. It was really fast.

Tuesday evening we had dinner reservations at Narcoosee's. It's at the Grand Floridian Hotel. My memory is getting worse...so I can't remember what all we had to do to get there. I do remember that we were really hurrying and we got there a few minutes late. One thing about dinner reservations is you need to make sure you know what transportation goes where and how long it's going to take you get there. Disney employees are really nice to give you directions on what to ride to get to your destination.

Aunt Sue got the lobster dinner. We had the deluxe dining plan and it really did save us a lot of money. I think her dinner was $68 or something like that. Our plan included an appetizer, entree and dessert. It was so much food because we ate like this every day. And we were so full after some dinners that we even took the desserts back to the room and put them in the fridge.

I got the filet and mushroom risotto here, too. This one had a balsamic glaze on it...it was so good.

My dessert was a pecan caramel type of thing. Love that decorative chocolate on there.
We went through the Grand Floridian Hotel while there that evening. This was my first time inside that hotel. It is so pretty.
There was a jazz band playing that evening in the lobby.


We were so late at the Grand Floridian that evening that the monorail had quit running. We had to take a bus to the Downtown Disney area and then get on a bus to our hotel. I'm telling you, it was a long time getting home that evening.

We also really like having the park hopper tickets. We went between Epcot and Magic Kingdom a lot every day.
