special necklace

Lisa and her family sent me this necklace and it's a sterling silver paw print. I can open the back of it and insert something very small, either a bit of fur or whisker or ashes from Chichi and Tiny. I am thinking of putting some of Chichi's fur in there. It is just so pretty and is such a wonderful reminder of my two babies. Thank you so much Lisa! Miss T sent me a picture frame to put my favorite picture of Tiny and chichi in and I'll show it when I get the right picture in it!

It was a month ago today that ChiChi left for the bridge. I miss her so much. I always will. But I have nothing but good memories of her...even the ones where she torn things up! You all kiss those babies out there and enjoy all the barking and crazyiness they create...it will make you smile at the memories one day.

needless markups

I get some catalogs from Neiman Marcus aka Needless Markup a few times a year. I just got one the other day and it's full of unobtainable clothes, jewelry, shoes, purses unless you are a millionaire...I guess. There's not one thing in the catalog that I can afford to buy. But I wanted to share some pictures of some things that caught my eye.

This is an outfit that I would love to wear if I could FIT in it or AFFORD it...neither of those options are happening now or anytime soon. Designer Roberto Cavalli top $1,715 and pants $1,090...I'd be afraid to have them dry cleaned or washed!

GUCCI natural mink with natural fox collar and cuffs, lamb trim, brown suede and black patent belt .... $15,595

GIULIANA TESO platinum dyed mink jacket with Swarovski crystal....$30,000...

GIUSEPPE ZANOTII blue crocodile-embossed patent leather pump....$595...one of the lesser-priced items in the catalog.

CORUM ladies diamond watch...54.90 carats. Man's watch, 92.88 carats set in 18-karat gold. Women's $700,000 and men's $1,000,000....RIGHT!

DOLCE & GABBANA black patent leather boot...$1,495 These look like something Aunt Sue would wear.

These purses I found in a magazine and I think one of the purses is $18,000. Looks like the popular material in purses this fall is the crocadile, whether real or fake.

This is the most expensive item in the catalog and it's on the last page! 115 carat Columbian pear-cut emerald and diamond earrings set in platinum. You will NEVER guess the price...keep reading.

Can you believe that price? I can't imagine.

wimpy burger

A few weeks ago, Aunt Sue and I found a new place to go for lunch. The Hip Pocket Deli. This is on the menu on Thursdays...THE WIMPY BURGER. It's two or three pounds, I'm not sure which...I'd say three before cooking. This is a Greek restaurant and I believe the meat was spiced with some garlic or some kind of seasoning that I'm not sure what it was...and the meat may have been something other than beef, but I'm not sure about that either. That sounds scary, but it was okay. I don't think we will go back there, though.

Hey Punchy, this is for you. They have slices of cake there that are HUGE. You can't tell how big this piece of cake is, but it was big. It was good. This is definitely a place where you share your food with someone because the portions are so big.

When we walked in we were surprised that it was full of Navy guys in UNIFORMS...what a pretty sight. It was like walking onto a movie set of Top Gun or something. You can't tell so much from this picture, but there were quite a bit of uniforms in there. It's close to the Navy base.

looks like wood rot going on here

Tune in Friday for some needless markups...

Are You Crazy?

Poor Baxterman...he looks a little crazy in this picture...but he's crazy for his mama..that's all! Since we had Chichi and Tiny and Sugar and they were all girls, before we got Baxterman, I never thought I'd have a boy dog. But it seems like boy dogs are such mama's boys. He is the one that stays with me constantly. Since Chichi and Tiny are no longer with us, Sugar stays with me more, too. I guess it's really because I'm the one who is home all the time and so they just tend to gravitate to me all the time.

The husband came in tonight and told me that there's a rumor that someone who has a pug that we helped find a home for a few years ago, might want to give one of her three pugs up. So the husband thinks that he'd like to take that pug if she offers him. He's not sure if this is for real of if it's just talk in passing. I told him that we had plans to do some things before we ever got any more doggy children! But I told him that if this person gives the pug up, to take it and bring it on home. So who knows...I have a feeling we will never have an empty house.

I don't know when or if we'll hear anymore to this rumor but I'll let y'all know if we do hear something or if another pug comes to live here.

Is anyone watching Damages with Glenn Close? It sure is a twisting storyline. I can't imagine writing a book or a television story with a twisting plot.

Tune in tomorrow for the biggest burger I've ever had in front of me ... and of course Aunt Sue had half of it!

Go following the links in Barrier Island Girl's post and see a real live water spout.

a sunset, a lawn mower and a book

Friday evening I went to Lowe's with the husband to buy a new lawn mower. As we were coming home, the sunset was so pretty that I had to pull over and take a picture of it. It was too hot FOR ME to do anything this weekend but stay inside. The air conditioner runs constantly. I need to get out and take more pictures soon.

Here is the sunset on Friday.

The new lawn mower.

I've read the whole series by this author and really enjoyed them. There are recipes included in the books but I've never made any of them.
