How much can a heart take before it breaks in two? Our precious Tiny grew her angel wings around 10:45 p.m. Sunday evening. How happy Chichi must be to have her with her to run and sleep with. Our hearts are breaking.
Friday afternoon, I notice she was mopey and our vet told us the the other pugs would probably seem depressed. I thought when the husband got home she would be better. She was happy to see him when he got in that evening from being out of town for several days. Saturday she seemed okay but still a bit mopey. She ate her dinner and a couple of pieces of pizza crust from our dinner. She didn't want much in the way of the regular treats. About 2:30 a.m. she threw up a lot and there seemed to be some blood but not a lot in the throw up. Her breathing was a little rapid. She drank some water. I changed the sheets and she laid back down and seemed to sleep for a couple of hours. She threw up again. I changed the sheets and laid back down with her and she got up to throw up again and I ran to get a towel and she just fell off the edge of the bed. I thought she had died right there. I screamed and ran to get her and I fell down too. I picked her up and called Aunt Sue to come take us to the ER vet. The husband had left to go play golf earlier.
I called the husband on the way to the ER vet and told him to come over to the ER vet right then. We get there and they took us in a room and Tiny's breathing was not too labored but it was different. She had blood in her mouth and I thought she had bit her lip when she fell. They took bloodwork and her platlets were almost nonexistent and other things were wrong. They took x-rays. They did not know what was wrong but maybe something to do with her liver or maybe cancer in her bone marrow or some type of bone marrow problem. We got ahold of our regular vet and he consulted with the ER vet and suggested that we should let them keep her and give her IV fluids and plasma/platlets. We were devastated that this was happening to her and we did not know anything about it. The husband and I and Aunt Sue talked to her and kissed her and petting her and they took her to the back and we left with heavy hearts.
We got a call in the late afternoon that nothing had changed other than she was resting and they had her hooked up to the IVs and if they needed to do more plasma transfer, would we permit it and we said yes.
At 11:05 p.m. the ER vet called and said she had quit breathing and they tried to revive her and could not. He said he believes it was an internal problem with the bone marrow and that it was something that we would not have known about until it happened. I have no words for how it feels to lose this baby girl five days after losing our ChiChi.
Tiny came into our life January 1995. The husband saw an ad in the paper: For sale two black female pug puppies. We drove over to the man in Seminole, Alabama, and he had both black female pugs with him. One was promised to a lady but she had not picked the one she wanted so we got to pick which one we wanted. I let the husband pick and she was his baby ever since. She was so very little when we got her that we called her Tiny but tried to give her other names before we finally settled on Tiny. She was so beautiful and so black with a litte tad of white on her chest. Her fur was always so soft and shiny like a seal.
She loved the husband more than anything. She followed him around and sat with him at night to watch TV. When there used to be a Hardee's in our little city, he would take her for a ride on Saturday mornings to go get a biscuit. She loved it. She would always start barking after I feed them their dinner in the evenings because she knew her daddy would be home soon. She would finally quit barking when he got home unless he was not paying enough attention to her and she let him know it.
She eventually lost her hearing last year but that did not stop her from barking like she could hear. She like to have her belly rubbed and liked to sleep RIGHT SLAM UP AGAINST you at night. She was always the baby of the group. They doted on her by licking her and paying her attention. She demanded it of them. She would bark at them to move out of her way if she wanted a certain spot to sleep or sit. If she wanted them to clean her face or ears, she barked at them until Baxterman or Chichi or Sugar took care of whatever spa treatment was wanted!
The husband and I are going to miss her and so are Sugar and Baxterman. She really was my husband's little shadow and I know this will be hard for him as he will miss her terribly. I hope that Sugar and Baxterman can cope with the loss of ChiChi and Tiny. I can tell they are a bit confused at the moment.
I am so tired and sad and don't feel much like blogging right now. I want you all to know how thankful I am that you all care so much about my pugs and me and the husband and that your comments help us so much in dealing with the sadness. I want you to know I will read every comment. I have to take a few days off from blogging to get some things done around here that have got to be done workwise. I am having trouble concentrating right now. I will be back soon but it may be a few days.
Thank you all again for all your loving words. Please kiss your babies and hold them and talk to them and enjoy them every minute.
