Sugar had to whip the gorilla today after she got all excited barking at the neighbor's dogs.

Baxterman's Birthday OOPS and Mardi Gras flowers

Baxterman came to live with us January 10, 2003. So he's been with us four years. He is my little man. Nobody knows his birthday so I decided the date he came to live with us would be his birthday. We're guessing he's around eight years old now. I need to give him an extra spoonful of gravy on his dinner tonight. I remembered earlier in the week but forgot on the actual day... I wonder if mama's of real human children ever forget their birthdays? I'm sure the kiddos don't let them. I'm not good with birthdays and will forget about birthday dates unless reminded...I don't like to celebrate my own...only if I can get a cake but no singing so I'll spare Baxterman the irritation of having me sing to him.

Baxterman looks good on the purple blanket!

My mama put these mardi gras flowers together. Things are getting purple, gold and green around this area.

Mardi Gras gets me thinking about New Orleans because they are the ones who really do Mardi Gras right. Mobile and Pensacola try, but they don't just don't get it like New Orleans does. I was looking at a New Orleans silver store online and found this. I really like it because I like reindeer and I think this is so pretty. But they need to take $1,000 off the price! I won't be getting this little pretty.

Scenes from downtown P'cola marina

This is downtown P'Cola at the marina on South Palafox Street. Many years ago I had an office in that building that is all glass and the marina went all the up to the back of it. I would sit at my desk on Friday afternoons and watch the boaters leaving all during the day for their fun in the sun weekends. When the bridge was hit by a barge in 1989, we could not drive across it for a week or two and we would take boats like this from where we lived to this marina and I could walk to work.

Aunty Sue enjoying the sunshine.

Here is an empty boat slip waiting for one of you guys!

The sky was pretty last Friday.

This is the biggest yacht in the marina that day.

This is a power racing boat on display.

Condo almost ready to rent

After two years and four months the condo has been rebuilt finally. It was just a shell after Hurrican Ivan tore in the windows and roof. Still need to get the electrician to do a new fuse box and get phones outlets and cable outlets and a few little things finished and get the back yard looking better and hopefully in a month we can start to look for a renter.

Our next-door neighbor, who flips houses and has their own work crew, took on this project for us and it was so nice not to have to deal with coming and going of workers. We let her pick things out and I think she did a great job. My parents gave us the stove when they replaced their stove so that was a plus.

Delurke yourselves and the puggies in the sun

HEY EVERYBODY: I'm following Alfredmom's lead and asking anyone that wants to to say hello and let me know you're there! I do have sitemeter so I can see where some people come from but that's not always accurate but it's nice to come out of "Internet space" and say hello!!! Then you can go back into "Internet space" again.

Today was so pretty and the puggies enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine. I wish we had more days like this where it's cool outside but sunny. The majority of our days are humid and hot and this winter has been mild so far...like everyone else except you all out west in Colorado and probably Montana!

I finished reading The Starter Wife. It was a quick read even though it was 400 pages. I'll probably read another of this author's books.

Doggy bakery cookies

This is a new doggy bakery in P'Cola. Aunt Sue and I stopped by on Friday.

Squirrel cookies!

Aunt Sue posing with the doggie that works there who is named Cabana.

This is the cookie I bought for the pugs.

This is a video of the puggies getting a piece of their cookie treat. Baxterman was up on the bed in the dark eating his piece of cookie.

Mayflower book and some cake

Well, my New Year's resolution didn't even last a week! I should have known. Aunt Sue and I went by the french bakery downtown and halfed a sandwich and got these lovely desserts that turned out not to be so good.

This was Aunt Sue's dessert and it was not sweet enough..the icing tasted like there was no sugar added to the buttercream. She and I switched desserts and neither one of us like either one....but of course we ate the whole thing.

This was originally my dessert. The layers of pastry between the filling were tough.

I just finished listening to the audio CDs of Mayflower. I rented it from the library to take with me to Asheville back in November and I've had to renew it twice! So this week I decided to listen to it and finish it. It is a history of what happened as the Pilgrims prepared to leave England and Holland and then what happened in the first 50 to 60 years after they landed at Plymouth. It made me want to come up to New England and visit these places. You all that live up there would probably enjoy this book/CDs because you probably see these places a lot and are near them.
