How many sleeps until Santa comes?

A Hint of Things to Come.....
Recently Loz shared her visit to a Christmas shop in Sydney. The show n tell included who came home with her!
Then on Friday Ruth asked on her blog was it ok to put one Christmas quilt?
Well Ruth, you know I would say it's ok! One month out of twelve is not really enough to give a quilt its moment to shine. AND you also know that I have this picture up on my blog for you to enjoy. And for Loz to have a little insight to my Santa collection.



This Santa came home from Seattle with us and has lived in 3 different locations in Brisbane since arrving in Australia. Today he is boarding a different kind of sleigh - no reindeers - a flying kangaroo and is heading to Melbourne for Christmas 08.

Weekend Traditions
Way back in early Winter, I was struck down by a respiratory virus that just wouldn't go away. DH's "cure" for these ills is warm orange/lemon juice- freshly squeezed. As this leurgy hung around for so long, we eventually decided that the time had come to find a faster way of making larger quantities of juice. So we purchased the juicer pictured above.
Since then, it has become a custom that whenever we are in Brisbane (where the juicer "resides"), it is not really Saturday unless there is freshly made juice to enjoy out on the deck.

PROGRESS

The UFO has advanced....

and the kit has been opened and fabric cut. I reasoned that nothing was going to be achieved by admiring it in a neat little package.

As I predicted, I have changed out a couple of the fabrics and am still contemplating making a bigger quilt by adding more of my own fabric. The problem with that is that the fabric is not in the same location as me! Sometimes there are frustrations to having a stash spread across two states!. Oh well, at least things have been cut.

The Pleasure of a Short Interlude.

Things have been a bit up and down in our family dealing with the unexpected passing of a family member and supporting an another elderly family member who is quite ill.

It's Melbourne Cup weekend in Victoria and I am on a short break before the countdown to the end of the school year begins.

Throughout my life, I have found for me the best way to cope with stressful times is to sew. At university when an assignment was due, I made myself a new clothing item whilst doing the assignment. I found the time being creative helped me to think more clearly and calmly.

Back in September, I got to visit one of my favourite Melbourne quilt shops Primitive Patches in Mentone (Lower Dandehong Rd) . I purchased this kit there and am contemplating starting it as the hard work of choosing the colours has been done. Don't be surprised though if I add and take away fabrics as I go along!

I don't have the discipline of my friend Loz who only works on one project at a time so I am also telling myself I could move this long term UFO on a bit too!

There are 13 snowball blocks to be made to alternate with the 9 patches and I have 8 made.

This project is starting to accure some Frequent Flier miles as it started its life here in Brisbane and lived here in our various residences and then it has just had a little "holiday" in Victoria and now it's back in Brissie. So maybe I should spend a little time on it before it is packed up and moved again! Hmmm...decisions!
