105/365 - Quilled Happy Birthday card

I love quilling. I specially like the 3D texture, the feeling on my finger tips when I press down to stick the shapes it's feels me with great pleasure. Quilling helps me relax and wind down form a long day at work.

Quilling it's a wonderful craft.

I made this card for a swap bot again. (I'm really into swapping at the moment). The person I had to send it to makes beautiful cards using 3D cuttings. I made this card specially for her so she can experience another type of crafting using 3D shapes . Who knows maybe she will take up quilling. He he I love converting crafters into quillers.

This is a card that I did for the second challenge of the week on 365 Cards Day 105 - Mega movie Monday

The shapes that I used in this card were inspired from the "Quilling design-a-day Calendar".

Recycled flower card

Oh it's been so long since my last quilling.

I had been having such a busy period with getting married, going for a long honeymoon, starting a new job, commuting 3 hours a day, looking for a new house, going to the gym regularly....oh I need more hours in the day.

Well... I guess I have good excuses, anyway.... :-)

This flower is another piece made from recycled shredded paper. I'm really into recycling and using free materials for my cards.

Quilled flowers for swap-bot

I sign up on Swap Bot for a greeting cards kit. We had only one partner to swap with as it required a little bit of work to do. We had to include 10 cards, 10 envelopes for the cards, 10 embellishments and a box to go with it.

It was fun to make it all, but the most fun I had was making these little quilled flowers to go inside. I hope the receiver will like it.

73/365 - Quilled birthday card

I was just before going to someone's birthday when I realise that I didn't have a card for her. So I had to make one really quick.

Recycled paper quilled flower

Can you believe that this was made with shredded paper? Yes I made this flower with shredded strips found in someone's recycling point on the street.

That shredded paper that I found few weeks ago opened a new world for me. Because of that I started looking for more recycled paper strips and found a treasure. A big recycling bag full of coloured shredded paper. I couldn't believe my eyes how cool the paper was and it was for free.

The same day I started to quill this flower and I love how it came out.

64/365 - Recycled paper quilled dove

Another day at work another quilled piece. The other day I was looking on the internet for some inspiration and came across Ina's creations where I found a nice dove so I decided to make one as well.

This is also made out of shredded paper.

Eeek a mouse!!

This is another one of the "bored at work" series, made in my lunch brake. For the cat and the mouse I used shredded paper found in the recycling bin .

This cat chase goes to okadaskat who sent me a nice knitted broach a while ago. I know she likes cats so I hope she enjoys it.

61/365 - Bored at work 2

Another day of making art at work although I'm working in research. (shhh don't tell my boss). Today I came prepared with my own glue which is better suited for quilling than a pritt stick.

I'm in a snowflake phase at the moment so I rolled the shredded paper found the other day in the bin and came up with this totally recycled hanging snowflake.

62/365 - 100% recycled

The drawing that you see underneath was sent to My REAL wall few days ago from B.

The flowers were so nice and simple that I felt the need to quill them and so I did. The strips that I used for this piece are the shredded paper that I found few days ago.

This is going back from where it came. I hope B will not get upset for altering her work.

Bored at work

The first thing on the right when I come into my office is a paper recycling bin which is usually full of crappy adverts magazines and forms. Me being a crafty paper lover, I check from time to time just in case someone drops in a magazine with some nice images. This morning I almost squealed with happiness seeing the bin half full with this lovely shredded paper. I had wanted to get my hands on some recycled paper strips for a while.

As I was on the last bit of training that took way too long for my short attention spam I immediately asked my boss for some glue and made these up while my computer was booting up.

I am really happy that I have this strips at work so I can roll some flowers in my lunch breaks and get away without looking too much like a weirdo. (I work in a very technical place)

59/365 - Quilled snowflake

Another challenge for the 365 card was to make a card that has a square, an oval and a diamond.

Again the snowflake is not as white as it could be because of the coloured edges that the paper strips came with.

This third card of the quilled snowflake series goes to one of my favourite flickr contacts.

58/365 - S is for snowflake

This is the second in the quilled snowflake series. I made this for day 329 on 365 cards.

The pattern and the paper strips comes form the quilling pattern a day calendar that I've bought a while ago. I have to say that that I'm not very happy with the quality of the paper that comes with. The strips have funny coloured edges that gives the quilling a weird look. Well I guess that's one of the reasons why the calendar didn't become popular.

57/365 - Winter is almost over

For the day 332 -This and that on 365 card we had to make a card that has a lot of yellow and is meant to cheer someone up.

I came up with this quilled snow flake card . The pattern and the paper strips comes form the quilling pattern a day calendar that I've bought a while ago.

At the same time this is my number 57 out of 365 that I make for my other project Mailart 365

Quilled snow flake from Martina

I received this beautiful snowflake from one of my flickr contacts Martina last Christmas.
It's a nice piece. It's the first quilling I've seen in reality (not internet or books) apart from mine of course.

Quilled Crab from Catherine

Recently I stared trading on flickr. This lovely ATC came through the post from Catherine. It's a bit squished (as the quilling didn't have any bubble wrap or back up card) but I totally love it. It's so cute.

Quilled martini glass

I made this card couple of days ago using another recycled Christmas card that I found and the first quilling pattern from my pattern-a-day calendar.

When I was thinking who to send it to PostMuse came to mind as I remembered she likes wine. When I saw her Shaken,not stirred today I was really happy as it reinforce the thought to send this card to her.

Flower pot birthday card

I made this card for my best friend to give to one of her friends. She was going to a birthday party so I volunteered to make a card for her friend. I hope that friend liked it.

I had to take a photo of this in a hurry as my friend Alina had to go to the party with the card so the photo quality is not the best.

Quilling calendar 2007

Yay. My quilling calendar finally arrived. It "only" took 2 months to get to me. I ordered it from Canada and the seller send it to me by road/boat as it was the cheapest option. If he had chosen by air it would've cost me about 40 Canadian dollars.
It took ground to the Atlantic and then a ship to England and then road to London again. I didn't even thought that you can still send it like that. It took ages till I got it but at least I saved about £30.

This is a old version of Quilling Pattern-a-Day calendar, the 2007 one. It contains a quilling pattern for every day of the week and one for the weekend. They don't publish it any more as is too expensive to make and not enough people who buys it so that's why it's so hard to find one.

I'm really excited and can't wait to get started. In the out-coming posts you'll see these patterns incorporated in cards and mailart.
