Great Deal Going on Now!

For those who live in Provo/ Orem, today (Saturday) at Provo Macey's they are doing a big Super Bowl celebration thing. I hate the Super Bowl, so I don't care about that. However, they have a Snack Bar kind of trailor thing out front where they are selling hot dogs and nachos for $.10 each and chili for $.50 and cans of soda for $.25 each. The hot cocoa is free. There's no limit to how many you can buy either. And the weather is beautiful today making going out for lunch even more enticing. We just fed our whole family lunch for $.90!!!! Wahoo! They said they are staying til 6:00 tonight or til they run out of food. Just wanted to let you all know in case you wanted to take advantage. This is something we'd be glad for someone to tell us.

On a side(ish) not, Macey's is having a Moonlight Madness sale this Tuesday from 6:00 to 10:00. (Provo Macey's only.) According to the flier, the following is on sale (and good sales):
yogurt, cheese, bread, milk, frozen pizzas, campbells soup, oranges, bananas, tomatoes, onions, chicken breasts, ramen, BYU ice cream, apples, eggs, and bagels. We will totally be there.
Just thought you all should know!

Octuplets

This article made me mad. So I wanted to talk about it. First, did you all hear about the octuplets born? Wow! So this guy in the article thinks that the fact that triplets and higher-order multiple births takes place at all is irresponsible on the part of doctors and negatively affects society. He is so worried about the rise of number of premature births saying that that rise is influenced significantly by multiple births. But isn't it true that doctors consider full term to be a bit different when it comes to twins and other multiples? Twins rarely make it to "full term" 37-40 weeks from what I understand. And they are often fine.

Now I am not saying there is no risk to moms and to babies to have so many born at once, but I think worrying about how one family's muliple babies affect society? Seems like none of society's business to me. (Granted this is coming from someone who thinks that families should have as many children as they feel they can have according to what is right for them and their situation and the will of God for them. So of course I feel this way.) But I did think it was totally offensive that this guy implied that there should maybe be some way to force parents to have "fetal reduction" - meaning getting rid of one or more fetus while in the womb - in the case where a mom is expecting three or more babies at once. As if it is OK at all to take the decision away from the parents.

Wow, strong feelings from me. What do you think?

Look What We're Having

YAY Amy!

I almost forgot to post the second biggest news of the day. (And believe me, later today's news is really big to beat this one.)

Amy didn't nurse at all yesterday. That's the first time in her life. I kinda tried to convince her not to last week, but she didn't feel well so the timing was bad. I didn't offer at all yesterday, and I think she would have been willing if I had offered. But she asks quite often (by pulling up my shirt or bringing me over to the chair where we most often nurse.) So far today, no asking either. I don't know if this means we are totally done forever or not. I'm not absolutely committed to the idea that now she missed once, she never gets to nurse again. We'll see. But this is progress.

I still haven't minded nursing (except when it hurts, which sometimes is the case since I've been pregnant.) I've really loved it lots of the time. I'm just glad for Amy's sake. If she was still nursing when the baby comes, I think she would be jealous and would want to nurse a lot more than she needs to. This still might happen, but I think a few months off could be good. If we're really done that is. Who knows? We'll see.

Amy's Words

Amy's doing awesome! She learns so many new words all the time now. And she does lots of fun tricks. She's obsessed with shoes, hers and everyone else's. She likes to help with work and walk by herself. She's walking around the living room in her diaper and one shoe right now - my shoe. It's awesome.

Here's her list of words:

Those she says clearly and fairly often -
ducky
mommy/ mama/ mom
daddy
hi
bye
uh-0h
Amy - sounds like Aa-my or Meemy
Papa
no
owie
apple
banana - this one's hilarious. I'll try to get it on video because I can't even spell it the way she says it. But she KNOWS what it means. She loves bananas.
cracker
snack
T.H.E. - pronounced T-T. This is what we call my brother, Scott, who is Amy's very favorite person.
Abby - we don't know what she's trying to say because hasn't spent too much time around very many Abbys. But she says this a lot.
poopy
agua (water) - pronounced ah-wa
amo (love)
pato (duck)
eye
mo - this means mole not more.

Words she has experimented with -
bottle - said this out of nowhere just a few minutes ago
purple
diaper
baby

Since Christmas

I don't have too much to update about our time since Christmas. We've been getting back into the groove of normal life after really fun holidays!

New Year's was uneventful. I started feeling kinda gross around 9:30 so we decided to go to bed early rather than staying up to play games and eat treats like I had planned. A bit disappointing. But we did play and eat treats the next night with Scott and Melissa. That was fun.

The most exciting news of January comes later today, so stay tuned.

More of Christmastime at Grammy's

Amy and Lillianne liked sitting in their chairs together at meal times. Somehow we got them to hold hands. So cute! They got along pretty well, although Lillie was sometimes a bit much for Amy. I hope they grow up being best cousins! Amy's so lucky to have lots of cousins close to her age, and I'm so glad.

Above: First time on big wheels. I thought she was so cute! And I was quite impressed watching her catch on so well.
Below: One of the funniest faces. I loved it!

Here you can kind of see her owie. She hurt her cheek and her eye on a little plastic chair (like the one you can see behind her in this picture.) Poor thing had a rough day.

Baby, it's Cold Outside

Above and below are my niece and nephew, Tyler and Malia, standing on the snowman turned snow slide that was built. All the kids and a handful of the adults (including Matt) had SO much fun out in the snow during Christmas time. Matt was outside for about 3 hours that morning playing in the snow and shoveling (I think mostly playing.) He couldn't get enough of it! Later that day, he and my dad and Scott played basketball for a long time. They had all been in the snow a lot and were quite exhausted by the end of b-ball. Matt was done doing active things for the rest of the day. But being pulled in the sled in the backyard, sliding down the snow slide, and building things were very popular activities!

"Mom, I want to go play in the snow." Amy really rarely lasts very long - I think she's a little wuss in the cold like me, but it sure looked fun when she was inside watching everyone. I think she "helped" her daddy shovel a little snow. She loves helping these days - vacuuming, sweeping, laundry, putting away groceries, etc. It's great!

Look how cute Matt is! He wrote me this note on our van. And boy was he proud of himself. Thanks Honey! Love you too!

Show Time

Here are a bunch of videos from Christmas time that I thought were so cute! I understand if you don't want to watch all of them in their entirety; I probably find Amy cuter than you do (unless this is Matt reading. He finds her as cute as I do.) I think we narrate the videos well enough on them so I won't explain here. Enjoy!

Christmas Stuff

When Amy and I went to see Santa at the mall, she got a sees sucker. I just handed it to her still wrapped to keep her happy as we walked through the mall for the other errands I needed to take care of. Before I knew it, she had the wrapper off anyway. At one point, I put her back in the stroller to contain her mess - mostly so she wouldn't be able to touch anything. She got chocolate all over herself, her clothes, her stroller, anything within grabbing range. And boy was she happy!

Below is probably the cutest facial expression I've ever seen from Amy. I love it!

This is the blockade I made in my parents living room to keep Amy from escaping on Christmas morning. She didn't realize that all the fun was in the room where the presents were being opened.

Here's Amy helping me open a present for our family. She didn't exactly get into presents this year. Still doesn't get it. She kind of helped us unwrap some sometimes. She did like playing with what came out - whether it was hers or not.

Hello Everybody!

So I know I haven't blogged forever, and there are those who are wondering what is up with us. (We got a phone call wondering where we went on the blog world yesterday.) I have to admit that I realized I like sporadic blogging. Sometimes I get too busy with other things or just not interested in sitting down to blog. Other times, I can't get enough of it.

The other night I uploaded pictures from our camera, and there were tons. So I think I'll put up a few posts full of pictures and videos and let them tell most of the story of Christmas and New Years, etc.

As a quick note, Matt encouraged me this morning to tell a funny story here. Those in my family have already heard it; we couldn't stop talking about it. When my sister was here with her family for Christmas time, one Sunday her family and my brother's family joined my parents for church. Since James is 3 and Aly is 5, they ended up just going to the same primary class, just to make things easier. And my mom joined them. Apparently they were talking about spirit bodies and physical bodies in class that day. It was explained that in the spirit world, we did not have bodies with bones and skin - just our spirits, etc. James jumped in and said, "That must have been pretty squishy." We all laughed a lot.

OK, on to the pictures.
