Thanksgiving

We had a fun Thanksgiving. Matt's parents stopped by for a few minutes in the morning. Then we went to my cousins' house (the Cernys'). I stayed and played and took care of Amy, and Matt went to play ultimate frisbee. Then we went up to Matt brother, Brent's house. We shared Thanksgiving dinner with Brent, his wife, Melanie, and Melanie's three kids. They were very fun and kind hosts. What a great day!

Forget the Joneses

The other night Matt said that I should read my friend, Nancy's blog regularly and then we can just do something that she and Andrew do. They have a lot of creative fun ideas, and we decided recently that we are boring. We need a little bit of help coming up with fun things to do. Also we are always both amazed at how much Nancy accomplishes. Like me, Nancy has a baby girl so there goes my excuse that I can't get anything done because of my baby. She always has creative things to say on her blog. Tonight we were reading about how she likes to read textbooks cover to cover and even reads Andrew's textbooks. And how she decided to learn to embroider and then had a stocking embroidered by the next day. Also, Andrew is in school which makes us amazed at how many family things they manage to do. When Matt was in school, if we spent time together it was in the computer labs. We would frequently stay there until midnight 4 or 5 nights a week. They are pretty much amazing. So we are now changing the phrase to "Keeping up with the Heisses." (Andrew and Nancy, I hope I didn't embarass you.)

Book Blog cont.

Is it just me or did I forget to put the sight of the blog on my last post? Rediculous. It's onebooktwobookredbookbluebook.blogspot.com. That was Matt's idea. I'm excited about it. Hopefully today I can put up a few things I have to say about some of the many books I've read recently.

I decided to start a book blog where we can talk about the books we read and share them with others. I don't intend this to be an online book club, just a place where we can recommend books to each other as well as mention books we don't like. If you want to post on the reading blog, let me know by making a comment on either of my blogs so I can add you as a contributor.

Amy on her Blessing Day

Here are a few more pictures of Amy on her blessing day. Thanks Grammy for making the dress and Grandma for making the blanket. Also pictures are cousins, James and Finn. Our only regret of the day is that we forgot to take a picture of just the three of us, our little family. How sad!

Amy's big day.

Yesterday Amy was blessed in Sacrament Meeting. It was a very special day for our little family. We all loved it and had a great time. All morning my biggest concern was that Amy would leak all over her beautiful blessing dress that her grammy (my mom) made for her. She didn't! She wore it the whole day! My next biggest concern was that she would scream during the whole blessing. She didn't do that either! Apparently she was a little fussy at first, but her grandpa stuffed the binkie that was attached to her dress into her mouth and held it there until she was calm. Good work, Grandpa. The fussyness didn't get picked up by the microphone anyway. Amy had over 40 visitors at her blessings from both sides of the family and friends. She was quite popular, and we felt very well supported. We were grateful for that and happy to see everyone who came! After church was over, some of the family and friends came over to our house. Matt got a substitute to babysit the bishop. (He's executive secretary so he stays at the church every Sunday as long as Bishop has interviews. Thanks for filling in, Christian!) So we talked and played with guests until 8 or something like that. What a wonderful day! Here are some pictures:

I like the idea of a picture of Amy with the men who were in the circle to bless her. Missing from this picture is the bishop. But it's nice to see her with her daddy and grandpas.

Amy's cousin, James did not want to miss out on the little snuggling going on on the couch. So here's the three of us. We love James so much! He was sitting on my lap during the blessing and later during Sacrament Meeting. He enjoyed talking to me about Tio (his name for Matt) and Papa (my dad) who were sitting up on the stand at one point, waiting to share their testimonies.

Picture from the Park

On Saturday we went to a park with some friends to take family pictures of each other's families. It was so fun! I'm glad Nancy suggested it. I'll spare you the details as Nancy is a better blogger and put a great post on her blog within hours of the excursion. Really, check out her blog because there is a fantastic picture of our babies on it! You'll know the one I am talking about when you start laughing. I promise, Nancy, Amy does want to be Rachel's friend. Teasing others is just in her genes. Amy went down the slide a few times. She seemed to like it. I'll post more of these pictures later when I can figure out how to get them off the DVD Nancy gave us.

Halloween

It's official. I am the last person on the planet to finally get a post on her blog about Halloween. I'll try to get it done before Amy wakes up and needs me.















Matt was a tree for Halloween. It was kind of a pain to tape leaves all over his costume, and his mobility was slightly limited. Leaves were falling off him all day. What do you do? I found Amy's flower costume at a yard sale in the summer (before she was born). So we decided to follow her lead for costume themes. I was the sun. (I liked the excuse to dress completely in yellow.)





























Doesn't she look cute. We didn't do a photo shoot. We aren't the best at getting all sorts of fun pictures taken. The only reason we do as much as we do is we don't want anyone to have to miss how cute our baby is. So we only got pictures of our flower in the car seat (and with the binkie. It keeps her happy; what can I say?)
