Another Year of Softball Down

Ashlyn is sad to report that her last softball game of the season was last night.  She was pretty excited when Grandma Kathy and Gene came to town for the weekend to watch though.
She had a lot of fun playing this year and getting to play with two of her best friends...but about halfway through the season she agreed that she should've listened to us when we said she needed to try out to play up ahead a level.  Her coach told her last night during the medal ceremony that he sure was glad she was on the team, but could tell she was really chomping at the bit and ready to get to play at a higher level.
She was the team's 1st baseman (girl?) all season long, which made some of the girls mad, but she was excited to play the same position as Blake does.  She is such a natural at softball and we love going to watch her games!  Next season can't come fast enough!

A Special Memorial Day Weekend

This past Memorial Day weekend we went to Salem to hang out with family and for our brother-in-law's baptism.  We were so excited when Sam called and asked Rick to preform the ordinance!
It was a GREAT weekend with Rick's ENTIRE family there.  Lots of food, games and a great time hanging out with each other.  We are soooo excited for you Sam!

School Concert

Ashlyn had her school music program last week that Rick was able to schedule a day off for to attend.  They did a patriotic theme...making an American flag during one of the songs on the risers.
Ashlyn was excited to have a speaking part again this year.  She decided that she wants to try out to sing one of the solo parts next year...we'll see if she is brave enough though.  I was really sad to miss the event since I had to work because her music teacher always puts on a huge production, not just kids sitting there singing a few songs.  We LOVE Mrs. Davis!

School Season is Over

Blake's season for school baseball ended a couple of weeks ago.  It was a great experience for him to get to play on a team with all of his friends on the same team instead of against them like it always was for Little League.
He got in a lot of pitching experience this season...it took a lot of hard work outside of practice to compensate for the bigger field size since he is still pitching for his Little League team as well on the smaller field.
It was a lot of fun to see him play at the next level up and be very successful...especially when he has a summer birthday and all his peers have played an extra year of baseball than he has. They also got to travel for 1/2 of their games to play other schools which was a lot of fun too.
When he wasn't pitching he played a great 1st base.  We are already counting down the days until next year's season gets here!

Photo Session with Ashlyn

I have been meaning to get the kids out to take some pictures forever, but haven't gotten around to it.  What better day to do that than Mother's Day - the one time of year they have to do as I wish and not complain about it!  Ashlyn and I went out before church but the sun got too bright so we had to stop and wait until after dinner.  Here are my favorites so far...

It was a lot of fun to go out to the park with her and have her come up with her own ideas about what to do for her pictures.  I can't believe how grown up she is getting!
