Brrrr....We're gonna freeze!

We're flyin' to Grandma and Grandpa's house bright and early Wednesday morning...this is what it looks like there right now! The kids were hoping for snow and boy did the weather man deliver! Plus two more storms are on their way this week - hopefully we can get there without any problems.
I don't know who is more excited about the trip, Blake and Ashlyn or Grandma and Grandpa. My crazy parents went outside today in freezing temperatures to build a snowman for the kids for when they get there in case the snow melts and there isn't enough to make one of their own. The kids will LOVE it - thanks Grandma and Grandpa! Ashlyn who hasn't seen the snow since she was a baby and Blake who barely remembers playing in it on Mt. Hood are in for a RUDE awakening come Wednesday when we get there in 20-30 degree temps when it's been in the 70-80's here for over month, not to mention that our "winter" temps only get down in the 50's usually. If we don't die of hypothermia and if I don't lose fingers to frost bite, I'll post pictures of our 2 week winter adventure in Montana when we get back!

Computer Literate

Ashlyn has officially joined the world of computers. She is soooo excited that she can get on and play games on the internet using the mouse herself. We've helped her play on various websites for a long time, but she loves her new found independence!Starfall.com is her favorite. It has all kinds of video clips, games, puzzles, songs etc. that go along with each letter of the alphabet then progresses to reading.
Here she is playing a matching game to uncover a picture. For anybody who has preschool kids, this is a GREAT website! I swear it's why Blake read at age 3. He now laughs that Ashlyn plays it since it's one of the sites that is bookmarked for the kindergarten and 1st graders at his school.

Luck of the Irish to Ya!

Happy St. Patty's Day everybody! While Blake was at school, a friend and I decided last minute to take Ashlyn and her two kids up to Savannah's parade - talk about great! As I was getting ready to go Rick commented that we weren't dressed appropriately for a St. Patrick's Day parade, boy did we feel left out once we got there! Savannah-nites sure take this day seriously, almost everybody was in some sort of crazy get-up. Oh, well there's always next year.This was one of the really pretty floats. Ashlyn loved how sparkly they were.I was shocked at the number of bagpipe bands they had, way more than the number of high school marching bands. Ashlyn really got into all the music and was a dancin' fool.No parade would be complete without the Budweiser Clydesdales. They stopped right in front of us, which freaked Ashlyn out a bit. I guess Daddy doesn't have to worry about having to buy her a pony any time soon. :)

Buy Me Some Peanuts....

...and cracker jacks...Blake's baseball season officially started last night with his first practice, but games don't start until we get back from Grandma and Grandpa's. He bumped up early to the farm league and is playing "real baseball" this year rather than t-ball. It'll be interesting....he's use to being the biggest size wise on his team, not the case this year - there are kids 3 years older! Hopefully he doesn't "ride the pine" the whole season...

If ya'll would've listened to us....

...and moved to Georgia the many times we've pleaded with you...you could be enjoying our beautiful weather we've been having instead of the winter weather you have in your neck of the woods. The kids have been bugging to get in the pool the last week - they don't realize that just because it's 80+ degrees, it doesn't mean the water is warm enough to swim yet. So we got out the Slip-n-Slide this afternoon when Blake got home from school. It seems like winter is the only time we get any use out of the thing!Blake gets a big splash with his landing, but seldom runs fast enough to make it all the way to the end.
Ashlyn waits on the side lines to get up the nerve to take her turn.
Oooo, that's gotta hurt when they land on it! They tried convincing me to take a try, but at the beginning of it it says that it's only for kids under 10 and those who weigh less than a hundred pounds...darn it.
We finally convinced her to walk down it, she's lucky she didn't slip and fall. Once she tried it, she wouldn't stop prancing up and down the thing for Blake to take a turn...boy did that make her big brother grouchy!
