Fatherhood Banned Here A father-son bonding session planned by a North Island primary school was cancelled after a single mother demanded to be included. Two "Band of Brothers" seminars were arranged by Matakana School to help fathers get more involved in their sons' lives, and as a forum for dads to share their issues. One session was for dads and another was for fathers and sons. A solo mum wanted to attend but was told she couldn't because her presence would inhibit discussion. There was a very disturbing story in the Dominion Post earlier this week that I noticed elicited very little comment online and on talk-back radio this week, even though it was mentioned on talk-back at least. That was the story of a young woman being banned from and childcare centre for "inappropriately restraining a child" . Her crime? She stopped a child from hitting another child, and this lead to her being banned from the centre. A woman has been banned from a Wellington childcare centre after a Ministry of Education staff member saw her "inappropriately restraining" a child . Even though the woman, in her 20s, was neither a parent nor a staff member at Miramar's A'oga Amata Childcare Centre, the ministry is continuing to monitor the Samoan community centre. Christian symbols from an army chapel on base in Afghanistan were removed after an American atheist soldier complained. He didn't like the cross markings on a door and claimed it made him feel like a second class citizen. (He's probably the type of guy that thinks Christian marriage isn't threatened by the existence of gay marriage, but these doors...) I note though that all other doors on the base were marked with absolutely nothing - the sign of secular atheism. One of the consequences of same-sex marriage is this sort of travesty - the removal of words such as "mother" and "father", which both have very specific meanings - and replacing them with the more general "parents" from all official documents. How soon will it be that calling oneself a mother if you're female, or father if you are male, will be considered offensive and discriminatory? Don't laugh, for now in New Zealand it is generally only considered acceptable to ask about a "partner", not a wife or a husband in conversation, as marital status is one of those no-go-zones. Once you know a person is married, then the leap to asking about the opposite sex term (wife or husband) is safe, but once same-sex marriage is brought into the equation, even this territory will become fraught with social danger! Very good article over at PJ Media written by a teacher about the state of education in the U.S, student entitlement, and the politicization of subjects by professors intent on pushing their own agenda, rather than teach the subjects they are supposed to be teaching. Not only was my students’ writing appalling, but I soon encountered their resentment at being told about it. “Who are you to tell me I can’t write?” was the attitude — once expressed in those very words. Another storm has erupted (so soon in the New Year?) over a Libra ad for a women's hygiene product (see ad above). The Herald has a story on it, and it's being called 'Transphobic' by some (yes, another made up word), who claim that it is discriminatory to transgender 'women', because if they don't have a period then they can't really be women. The Hand Mirror has gotten into the fray and said that Libra doesn't get it, and that the ad is offensive to cis-women (read 'normal women') and transgenders, both. We are well into jingly bells season now. In the super market the checkout operators are wearing "Santa Hats". And why not it is, after all, St Nicolas' Day though I doubt that many of the jolly checkout operators would know that. And we negotiate our trolleys through the aisles, loaded to the gunnels with Christmas goodies, Beer, foil wrapped Santa chocolates etc, to a background score of "I'm dreaming of a white Christmaaaaaaaaaas Just like the ones we used to knoooooooooooooooooooow ................................................ What bought this to mind is the Herald's account of Green's campaign launch The Greens' election campaign opened with a vitriolic attack on Prime Minister John Key and his Government from actor Robyn Malcolm who savaged what she described as his preference for photo opportunities over tackling environmental and social problems. Why isn't she an actress? She has a boys name, in her case feminized by changing the "i" in the usual spelling to a "y" but a boy's name never the less. But that's an aside - what is with this gender neutrality business? Is it bad to be a girl? What is wrong with being a girl? Is gender neutrality the ultimate in sexism and oppressive to women by seeking to undermine what they really are - stealing from them their femininity? Why don't girls take back their birth right from the social engineers?

I love dancing, it is a fine thing of grace and beauty. Once upon a time, in an age perhaps more wise than ours, it was understood that an important milestone in a persons life was the pairing of that person with someone of the opposite sex and the desirability for each individual to identify a partner for life and form a mutually sustaining bond. At intermediate school we were marched into the gym, paired with a member of the opposite sex (please god let me get the girl with blond hair and blue eyes and not the fat girl with warts on her hands) and taught to dance. The teacher would sit at an out of tune upright piano. During the School of Medicine tutorial lesson in October 2008, Conaglen played the role of a difficult patient and selected the shyest student to treat him. So the tutorial was about learning how to deal with difficult people , difficult people whom one might suppose the student is likely to encounter when in the real world outside the hallowed halls of academia. And who of course will have to be dealt with - even by shrinking violets who I suggest will not be given a pass. Indeed in my experience difficult and unpleasant people tend to single out and pick on shrinking violets, sad and unfair as this may be. Life in 21 st century New Zealand A mother is shocked that her 17-year-old daughter was raped after being "turfed out" drunk from a suburban Christchurch bar. OK nobody should rape a drunk 17 year old, that is hideous and disgusting but there are repulsive people out there and we all have to live with that. And it is not the alcohol's fault, nor the people who make it or sell its fault that this girl got drunk. Who should have taught her that over indulging is a bad idea and one that could have unpleasant or dangerous consequences - Hmmmmmmmm ? Of course it's hard to teach this - the elites have been undermining parental authority for years now and replacing it with their own destructive ideals - one of which is of course their disdain for old fashioned femininity. And along with that the old fashioned notion that boys protect and value a girls honor and that it is shameful not to do so.

A man who donated sperm to a lesbian couple will have his name stripped from their child's birth certificate after a successful legal bid by the birth mother's ex-partner. The woman took the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and biological father, to court in May to have his name replaced with her name in the document. Ok- so this little girl now officially has two (seperated) mommys and no daddy . Wont genealogists of the future have fun.
