The Third Way from Blackstone Films on Vimeo . Blackstone films has just released their movie (that looks to be crowd funded) called The Third Way: Homosexuality and the Catholic Church , which tries to explain the Church's view of homosexuals and what the response of the Church is to homosexuality. Includes interviews with gays who have found acceptance in the Church (with some also saying that the Catholic Church is the one place they do feel that acceptance). Obviously, the 'third way' itself is chastity, which I'm sure the secular world will not agree with. Have a look (the film is around 38 minutes) and see what you think. A book that should be brown paper-bagged and left there to rot has netted writer Ted Dawe a $7500 prize. Ted Dawe’s Into the River claimed top prize in the annual New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards. The author makes no apology for the provocative content , saying the story needs to be told, even at the risk of upsetting parents and booksellers. One scene describes, in extensive detail, two adolescents having fumbling sex in shallow water. Award organisers have sent “explicit content” stickers to all booksellers to warn potential buyers. The 2013 Kiwi Kids’ Good Book Guide lists the book’s target age as 13 years and over but Masterton Paper Plus says the book is only suitable for those over 15. The Conservative has an excerpt of the "fumbling sex", and has suggested a more appropriate title for the book. I'm going to a school meeting tonight on sex education Positive Puberty for Year 7 & 8 pupils. I'm not particularly impressed with the list of items I've been given that they will be studying, and even less impressed that this list was read out to the class before I was even given the option to withdraw my child. The list included, "Coping with wet dreams, periods and erections." Apparently the bishops have approved the content of the programme. So this post is in effect my notes for tonight. As a person made in the image and likeness of God, I hope and pray that Trevor Rupe had a final change of heart before he died. But given the things he did to his body and the societal changes he campaigned for, this change of heart would be most unlikely. I'm reminded of a young woman who set out on a career where she would be flaunting her body to all and sundry, who experienced standing before God  at the end of her life with the last thing that she had done and finding that it didn't amount to much that was worth anything when it came to what was really important. She realised that God had given her gifts and talents and that she had been using them for herself and to bring other people down. The experience shocked her into amending her life.
