We arrived at the district spelling bee very early, as you can see. Evan was only a little bit nervous. Nevertheless, as the auditorium filled the butterflies moved with more excitement!
Waiting was very difficult.
After 2.5 hours of spelling words in three rounds of 72 students grades 4-8 Evan's last word (round 3) was "analgesia".
An extremely full bladder, empty stomach and no sight in end caused his
brain to exchange the "g" for a relieving "j".
That one "slip" earned him a potty break, pie at Marie Calendars and not more spelling.
Not only did he do a wonderful job of spelling but he also did a terrific job reasoning!
We are very proud of our 4th grade academic!!

High five for Evan. Come to think of it, it think I would have done a little dodging for some pie...and ice cream!!
I loved the pic of Nathan. Poor 3rd and 4th and 5th children in a family sure do a lot of spectator sessions! I can still remember Heather at Derek's basketball game fully reclined on the bench below us moaning, "when...when is this going to end"......that was only after the 18th game of the season....:)
