 stitches
I know that the word "stitches" does not start with the letter "x", however when I think of "x", well, I think of stitches.
I recently brought out a little hexagon project I had started a long time back.  It is one of those projects that I have accepted as not being finished until I am 80 years old.  Ha!  However, I finished my crocheted blanket and like to have something to do with my hands in the evenings, hence, the hexagons came back out.
This is a very scrappy project, and I have not decided if it will become a very long table runner, a baby quilt or eventually something larger.  I suppose when it is time to call it quits and begin the quilting process, I will just know.  As much as I love hand quilting, I have no desire to do so in this case.  So we will just wait and see how it all ties up in the end.
Easter immediately had to come and check out what I was doing.  It was tough getting these pictures, he kept wanting to snuggle me and the hexagons.

Where I did not take one single picture (of the party)! I could just kick myself!!  It was so much fun, I guess we all just enjoyed each other's company so much, we forgot to click away our cameras.
I would not trade a single second, or a stressful moment, because just as soon as I blinked, the moments were gone.  But I am one of those who runs like mad on adrenaline and then crashes after the event is over.

I simply adore calicos, florals, ginghams,
polka dots, and stripes.
This has been an insanely busy week.
Please forgive any lack of responding to comments.
After this weekend, life will begin to slow again.
And I will be a much better blogging friend.

 the nicest people

I received such special gifts from dear friends who made my Birthday extra special. Truly, my cup runeth over and my heart so incredibly full. I adore and will cherish each and every gift!
The above stitching is from my friend Jen. I immediately hung it in my kitchen as a daily reminder of Who my Joy comes from and the strength I receive by leaning into Him.  Thank you so much Jen!  It is so beautiful and evokes my faith even more!

I nearly gasped when I opened this bag!  My dear friend Kathy blessed me with an adorable reversible handbag, hand made by her, with the sweetest of ginghams, vintage button, cherries, and the most charming touches.  You know me too well Kathy!!  You could not have touched my heart more!!  Thank you so much!  I absolutely love it!!
Is this not the most adorable little change purse??!!  When my dear friend Angela announced that she would be creating and selling her change purses, I just had to purchase one.  Only .... to my surprise, soon after we talked, a sweet little package arrived in my mail box!  Rather than allow me to purchase the change purse, she sent it as a Birthday gift instead!  Thank you so much Angela!  It is beautiful and I have already used it several times!!
As soon as I saw these adorable 30's print charm squares, I knew right a way what to create.  And every time I see them, I will think of you Miss Jenny Lynn!!  Thank you so much for the pattern book, cute cute purse that will be perfect for my business cards and the charm pack that will become a table topper very soon!!
Can you smell the delicious coffee?  I wish we had "smell-o-vision", so I could share this with you all.  My dear friend Shann has blessed me with such delicious Michigan treats and I could hardly wait for Woody to return from his business trip, to share a cup of coffee with him, on the porch.  I just adore the lovely little handmade strawberry and have it out, right where I can see it!!  And the cutest fabrics, will be treasured and sewn into something extra special.  Thank you so much Shann!  For the lovely gifts, but especially for your friendship.  It means the world to me!! Hugs!
Have you ever met someone at just the right time in life?  Where you worlds crossed paths and immediately you knew that God had orchestrated it all?  That is exactly how I feel about my dear friend Renee!  I give a prayer of thanksgiving for her on a regular basis.  Dear Renee, thank you so much for my precious handbag and matching purse.  Every time I use it, I will think of you!!  I love the adorable vintage buttons and the sewing fabric you chose!!  I will cherish it always, as I do you.

Each block (there are 25 blocks of 25 - 5" squares) are now sewn into rows.  The next step is to iron and sew each individual block.  It is all coming together and I can hardly wait to finish and have it on our bed!!
