In the Southern Island of New Zealand, Queenstown is a cosmopolitan heaven, offering a limitless adventure, southern wine and cuisine.
Early Maori(indigenous people) expeditioners to Queenstown came in search of pounamu(greenstone), a nephrite jade. It is a semi-precious stone of huge cultural importance to the Maori people. They once used the beautiful stone for adzes, chisels and weaponry. Today it is mostly carved into jewelery.
In the 1800s the Europeans found gold and the gold rush began in 1862. Today gold is still mined in the region, but typically with heavy machinery.
The town follows the shores of Lake Wakatipu—a deep blue pool of pure mountain water. Framing the pictures is The Remarkables range with its purple-brown peaks topped with snow. Most of these pictures were taken either during late spring or early summer of 2004.
Queenstown is also famous for adventure sports like jet boating, river rafting, sky diving, parapenting, mountain biking, helicopter excursions, river surfing, the world's first ever bungy jumping and during winter, skiing & snow boarding.
Queenstown ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ತಾಣ. ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯ ತಡವಾಗಿ ಮುಳುಗಿ, ಬೇಗ ಮೂಡುವುದರಿಂದ ( 5am - 10pm ) ಸುತ್ತಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತವಾದ ಕಾಲ. ನೋಡಿದ ಎಷ್ಟೋ lake ಗಳಿಗಿಂತ Lake Wakatipu ಬಣ್ಣ ನನಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಇಷ್ಟವಾದುದು.
ನಾವು 2004 ರಲ್ಲಿ Invercargill nalli ಇದ್ದಾಗ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ Queenstown ಕೇವಲ 2 ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ. ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೃಪೆಯಿದ್ದ ದಿನ, ಅನಿಲ್ ಆಫೀಸಿಗೆ ಚಕ್ಕರ್, Queenstown ಗೆ ಹಾಜರ್! ನಮ್ಮಿಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ತುಂಬಾ ಇಷ್ಟವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳ . ನ್ಯೂಜಿಲೆಂಡಿಗೆ ಬಂದರೆ Queenstown ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಊರಿಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಮೇಲಿರಲಿ :)
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಸಿನೆಮಾಗಳ ಚಿತ್ರೀಕರಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಅಂತೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ Lord of the Rings ಒಂದು. ನಮ್ಮ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ತಮಿಳು, ತೆಲುಗು ಸಿನೆಮಾಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರೀಕರಣವಾಗಿವೆ.
