Our family has had a German student staying with us since April 3rd (and she will be here until the 20th). Her name is Dortje and she is 18. She is from a small town outside of Loehne, which is not too far from Hannover. We have had so much fun showing her how Americans live, specifically Hoosiers! We took her to the Speedway and Pizza King last Friday.
She said that we are so open here. We have so much open land and we are very open people. We took her to Easter at my family's house on Saturday and Grandpa said that she should come stay with them for a week=) It was so cute! He really enjoyed talking to her.
Dortje is such a wonderful young lady and feels like part of our family. The first thing the boys ask when they wake up is, "Where is Dortje?". It is so sweet! I know that they are really going to miss her when she goes home, as are Mike and I. This has been such a wonderful experience.
Mike and I have enjoyed speaking in German and talking to her about our experiences when we were over there. We look forward to going back to visit and are grateful for the new friend that we have made. What a blessing it is to build friendships and learn about other cultures.
On another note, we talked about Being Valiant in the Cause of Christ today and watched the new Easter video that shows clips of Elder Hollands General Conference address. Everyone should watch it!
