F is....for Alphabe-Thursday

I missed last week's Alphabe-Thursday, but I will jump right back in this week.

This week Teacher Jenny says we are learning the letter "F"

F is for

Flowers

 These were taking at the San Francisco Zoo

when we went with our kids after Thanksgiving.

 Don't know the names of them though.

 They are pretty.

 Different than what I usually see.

 F is for 

Family

 We have Kaylyn with her Father

and her Grand Father, otherwise known as Poppa Ed.

 The girls with their Great-Grand Father.

Also known as Poppa Vern,

Also known as my Father.

He was the reason we wanted the Family

to be together for Thanksgiving. 

While he is still around to enjoy them.

I love this picture of them and the baby picture in the background,

is my father as an infant.

Food

 Our desserts when we went out to dinner that evening.

They were Fabulous!

REDnesday!

Here we are getting towards the end of the day on REDnesday.

Time for me to post again though. Too many days go by between posts.

Let's see what RED stuff I have for you this time.

This picture I had taken then forgot to post it.

Have you noticed how much RED is on remotes?

Plus I have that RED ladybug massager sitting there too.

Here is another picture I forgot to post.

Some of you may remember my talking about going to Bev Mo!

We went again not too long ago and I decided to try some new drinks.

This RED drink was one of the new ones to try.

It was actually quite good.

My daughter and I split this on to taste. Not RED I know,

but it was yummy. I am going to get more of these next time we go to

Bev Mo!

You can see my RED in the tea kettle behind it.

Here is a before shot of my kitchen. Yes we made changes again.

What changed?

A new microwave!!

The old one over the stove had not been working for a few years.

Been using a counter top one.

Getting the new one freed up space on the counter!

See?

Got rid of the counter top microwave. Moved the toaster oven over.

Moved my RED toaster over here and you can see my RED trivet better.

Also can see the RED apple outlet cover better too!

Quite a few RED things here. Some you have seen some of these things before.

A view of the other side of the stove with that new faucet I mentioned in the last post.

We love the new microwave! We have the clock on it set on the 24 hour clock.

Just for the heck of it.

Now my cookie jars and the RED rose plate are neatly sitting over here without the

RED toaster crowding them out.

And yes, I painted the jar lids.

Years ago.

My roses are blooming. Touches of RED.

Caught the small bee sitting on this one!

Outdoor Wednesday-A Sunflower Question

Welcome to Outdoor Wednesday!

I have not posted an Outdoor Wednesday post

in a long time now.

Well, a few weeks anyway.

I have a question about sunflowers.

This is my first time ever to grow sunflowers.

Here is my first sunflower in bloom!

It is not one of those big ones.

I did not know it was going to be a smaller one.

Before I go on.....

here are a few scenery pictures.

The fog rolling in from the Pacific Ocean.

We live about an hour away from the ocean.

But we still get the fog coming over those hills to the west.

I captured this scene from behind our house.

This is a different day.

We were on the way home from Joann's Fabrics.

B-Daddy slowed down so I could get this shot.

We are looking west were and the fog is coming over the hills

in the distance.

This is the road we were on.

An area of expensive homes.

I love driving on this road.

Great views.

Don't mind the dirty windshield!

Now we are back on the road I usually drive on

to and from work.

This tree lined section is really neat.

Sorry about the spots on the windshield.

This is what we see after we come out from the

tree tunnel.

Boy, I really need to clean my windshield!

After that interlude,

back to the sunflower.

Once it appeared the sunflower was done,

I decided to clip it and explore my

first sunflower.

Here is it after I cleaned away some of the fuzz

and surrounding green cover.

I realized those are seeds there!

Well, I kinda knew there should be seeds there.

But being my first sunflower........

you know......

I wasn't sorta kinda sure.

You know what I mean?

I took some of the seeds out.

I always thought the seeds were darker with shells.

But I guess those are from the really

BIG

Sunflowers.

So I guess my question is:

Are these seeds edible?

Should I do something with them first?

Did I take them out of the sunflower too soon?

I am out of the loop when it comes to sunflowers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Pretty please??

Here is another close up of the seeds.

I have three more blooms out in the yard.

I want to know more of what to do

before I pick those.

Pink Saturday Flowers

It is time for PINK Saturday!

I was going to post this last night,

I was just too tired and after my last post here

we know I better not type when half asleep.

Here are my Begonias.



There are even more blooms now since
these pictures were taken.

A PINK rose is always lovely.

I love photographing roses!

Interesting angles make for interesting pictures.

You can't go wrong with a Rose.

I know this is not PINK, but it is my first Sunflower!

It finally bloomed!!

I squealed when I looked out the window and saw this.

A person was walking on that green belt sidewalk in the background

when I squealed.

The window was open and I guess he heard me

and kind of wondered what was going on.

He wandered over towards our window as if to see

if anything was wrong.

But then I guess he probably heard B-Daddy and I talking

about the Sunflower and then continued on his walk.

I will have to remember to not squeal so loud next time.

That is okay.

Here is something I have not photographed yet!

The Naked Ladies as we call them around here.

Do you call them Naked Ladies?

Look at the background.

Leaves are falling around us already.

These are behind the neighbor's shed.

But I get to enjoy them from my sewing room window!

The neighbors can't see them at all.

I am enjoying these to the fullest.

I bet they were planted just for me.

I like to think so anyway.

Also I see these Naked Ladies blooming

everywhere I go now.

I guess they are also known as

Amaryllis.

But I like to call them

Naked Ladies myself.
