REDnesday in the Kitchen

A Big thank you to Sue over at My Secret Garden.

I hear she is going to be changing her blog name soon.

However, it will be the same wonderful blog.

I have a few things in the kitchen that are RED.

This trivet was given to me by a secret sister from church.

I remember which one too.

This is hanging above my stove.

I can see I need to clean the wall behind the trivet.

Amazing what pictures bring out that you

don't seem to notice otherwise.

I think I have posted this little teapot before,

but I have it sitting on the back of the stove.

Since that is where I am at the moment with these

pictures, I will share it again.

This was a gift also.

Oh, darn, this one came out kind of blurry.

My blurry eyes this morning

interfered with making sure I had a clear picture.

Well, this one will have to do for today.

Salt and Pepper shakers with RED on them.

I love these and always have them on the back of the stove.

I use them too!

These were also a gift,

but now I forget who I got it from.

I have had them a long time now.

Three or More Tuesday-A Recipe

It is time for Three or More Tuesday!

A big Thank You to Tam at The Gypsy's Corner

for hosting for us today!!

I have a recipe for you today.

Seems that lately I have be doing something

food related for Three or More Tuesday.

I am sure you don't mind though.

I get it from this magazine.

This is a 2008 issue and already it is

looking kind of used.

Pepperoni Biscuit Bites!

I keep calling them Pepperoni Pizza Bites.

Either name works I guess.

You can even see what day I first made them and my reaction!

Three main ingredient things.

The refrigerated biscuits cut in half.

You need a can of 5 biscuits for this recipe.

The pepperoni slices.
I use the Hormel ones which comes in a box with
two of these in them.
They were on sale and I got THREE boxes.
That is enough to make this recipe 6 times.
YUM.

The sauce.
However, the sauce does have several ingredients in it,
but it does use THREE tablespoons of tomato sauce.

Now to put it together.
With THREE steps.

First you flatten the half biscuit and put a pepperoni slice in there.
Actually I put two.
More meaty that way.

After it is folded and pinched closed,
then it goes in the sauce.

Then you sprinkle parmesan cheese on it.
Then you pop it into the oven.

While that is in the oven,
I have something else to tell you.

After I have taken out THREE tablespoons
I have too much tomato sauce.
If I don't use it quickly, it goes bad.
And I don't use it very often.
The can has enough to make
Pepperoni Biscuit Bites
THREE
times.

One day at the Dollar Tree I saw these.
Aha!

Just the right size to hold THREE tablespoons

of tomato sauce.

There.

Filled two of them.

Now I can pop those in the freezer

and get my full use of making the

recipe

THREE

times.!

Problem solved.

I have the pepperoni.

Now I just need to get some

more

biscuits.

you wanted to see how they look

when they come out of the oven?

Sure.

Doesn't that look good?

I guarantee you.

This is very yummy.

When we ate these

I had forgotten how good they are.

Hubby and I each get Three or More.

Like 5 each!

Tastes like more though.

REDnesday! Stuff in the House

Sue over at My Secret Garden is our lovely host

This is a day to post something RED.

Here are my REDs for this week.

This is what I currently have on top of my pie safe.

RED apple things, a Red apple fragrance candle,

the mason jar has blocks which include RED,

RED gerber daisy flowers, a Knott's Berry Farm plate with RED in it,

the two mini apple quilted wallhangings which I made years ago,

and the blue hanging with RED on it which I won in a raffle years ago

at my kids pre-school.

A lot of RED in one place.

And this tin sign with RED hangs in the kitchen.

Found this at a gift shop.

An old timey gift shop.

If you visited my post yesterday, you saw this scrumptious

dessert.

Sharing it again today, because of the RED in it.

Also to remind how yummy it was.

Hmmm...

Maybe we will go there again,

just to have dessert and coffee.

Three Or More Tuesday-Warning--You May Get Hungry!

Well, what do you know?

Here it is Tuesday again.

Darn that time.

It keeps flying out the window around here.

But I have several Three or More things this time.

Why do I not save some for next week?

Because I will probably forget about them by then.

Now you can stop wondering what is up with that!

A snack with exactly 3 ingredients.

First the Wheat Thins, or any other cracker if you like.

Then some cheese.
I am using Colby Jack.
But any kind will do.

And some pickles.
If you prefer dill pickles, that would be fine too.

Oh that was the ingredients.
Now to make the snack.
Yummy!
Are you drooling yet?
If you are, better cover your keyboard.
After all you don't want to short it out.

Okay, get a plate.
I have red, but any color will do.
As if the color makes any difference.
Maybe it depends on your mood.

Crackers on the plate.

Slice the cheese and cut if necessary.
Place the cheese on the crackers like so.

Then the pickles on top!

Oooooh yummy!!

Go ahead, take the snack out of the computer if you can.

If anyone succeeds, be sure to let me know.

So I can refill the plate.

Ok, that was the snack part.

What else have I got for you.

Three before pictures.

Here is one. I took this one using two mirrors

to get my backside.

See how long my hair is.

Almost long enough to sit on it.

Hubby took this before shot.

And one from the front.

So what did I do.

I cut it off!!!!

Why?!?

Shoulder pain.

It was getting increasingly painful

to wash, comb, brush and style my hair.

Agonizing pain in the shoulder.

Time to make it easier on myself.

I still have to go to the doctor again about it.

The last cortizone shot did not help one bit!

Ta-da!

I thought my head was going to float away

after it was cut.

Look! I can still pull it back to keep it out of

my face.

I can't stand to have my hair in my face. From the front.

So what about the part that was cut off?

Why, I donated it to Locks of Love!

This is a three or more.

The pony tail.

In a ziplock bag.

The donation form.

Padded envelope.

Well, that makes four.

Oh, but this is a Three or MORE post.

There I am.

I still can't get used to the short look.

I keep scratching the back of my neck

with my hairbrush.

Ouch!

I guess it will take some time.

I just have to make sure I don't

mangle my neck to death with the brush!

We went out to dinner after I got my hair cut.

This is where we went.

Why?

They are offering double airline miles

if you go on

Monday,

Tuesday,

or Wednesday.

A choice of 3 days!

Instead of 3 miles per dollar,

we will get 6 miles per dollar.

YES!!

Here is the sign.

It is called The Plaza Bistro.

We love that place.

We decide to get dessert.

Hmmm...what shall we choose?

The yellow box item is the one both of us chose.

Crepes-lemon mascarpone & strawberry champagne sauce.

Sounds yummy!!

It was.

The crepes were cut into Three or MORE pieces.

And there are 3 raspberries on the plate.

I have never had this before

and it was oh so good.

Yay!

Blue Monday-The moon and such

My pictures of the moon aren't very BLUE. I took these last month during

full moon.

The moon peeking through the clouds caught my eye

as we got home from something.

Don't remember what.

But I wanted to post this for a very good reason.
The 40th anniversary of Landing on the Moon.
I can remember what I was doing.
Can you?
I was 12 years old.
We were at church attending an
Annual Church BBQ.
There was a TV on there and people were
floating in and out of the area
checking out the progress of the moon landing.
Hubby says he remembers too.
He was on his first day in the Army at Fort Ord.
He had just gotten off the bus and went into the office area.
The officers there had the TV on and he walked into the
room just as the astronaunts were walking down the ladder.

This year seems to be a lot of banner anniversaries or birthdays.
A friend of my mom's turned 70 this month.
Hubby's brother turned 60 in June.
My brother turned 50 in June.
Our 30th annivesary will be in September.
A nephew turned 20 in May.
A niece turned 20 this month.
A niece turned 10 in July.
My son graduated from high school 10 years ago.

Can More Things Go Wrong?

Now I am really ready to scream!!!

I had a treat today. I got to work a short day. That part was good. I rarely have time at home and have been puttering around cleaning the kitchen, doing cross stitching and so on.

When I took some recycling out, I noticed the air conditioner was off. I could not get it to turn back on. Meanwhile the house started warming up rapidly. Not what I envision for time at home.

Grrr!

But funny thing, as I sat here typing, the darn thing kicked back on. Maybe I wasn't complaining loud enough.

So I check the vents, the air is not cool coming up. I texted hubby and he said maybe the thing froze up.

Aaack!!

I'm going to do a search on portable swamp coolers like they were using at work yesterday.

Seems like when things go wrong, we get a bunch of them all at once.

Update: Now the cool air is coming through. So I guess the thing froze up. I am not usually home at this time of the day, so never experienced this before. Maybe it happens at times while we are at work. We have it set to go on at a certain temp so the house would not be too hot when we get home. What a relief!

Vintage Thingies Thursday!

I decided it was about time I participated in

Vintage Thingies Thursday.

It has been awhile and I finally got organized enough

to take a few pictures of my Vintage Thingies.

But first I want to thank Suzanne at

Colorado Lady for hosting today.

And every week for that matter!

She keeps going while the rest of us jump in and out.

Here goes!

Some of you may have seen this picture on my

Blue Monday post.

I talked about the BLUE thingies on that post.

But I did not talk about the Vintage Thingies.

So I will do that here.

One of the comments I got was about the lace doilies.

Those doilies are indeed Vintage.

I think it was my mother-in-law who made them.

Here is a close up of the little pitcher thingie.

I don't know how old this is.

But it was in my MIL's things when we were helping

her pack up to move.

The handle looks like it was made from a nail.

I am not really sure what it was used for.

Maybe nothing.

Could have been just for looks.

The word there on the side is "Frostburg".

Hubby thinks it may have come from Germany.

Which means it may have belonged to his paternal grandmother

who came from Germany.

Anyway, I have always loved it.

If anyone has any idea what it is,

be sure to let me know.

Oh yeah, the contraption on the right.

A grinder of some sort.

Here is a close up of the side.

It says "Climax" along the top edge there.

Here, I'll move the handle.

That part says,

Pat. Pend.

Hamilton, Ohio

That pretty much tells us where it is from.

I found it at an Antique shop last year.

We need to go for a drive and visit that shop again.

Here is a side view of the glass thingie that goes in the top.

See how it is rounded on the bottom to match

the curve of the inside of the grinder.

Hey, there is a hole in the top!

You know, I never noticed that until I took this picture.

Silly me!

Okay Helmi, stop laughing at me!

I am guessing

the hole is for adding

either hot

or cold water depending

on what you are grinding.
