Just weird

Can I just tell you how weird it is to be the week before Christmas and to have it be 68 degrees outside? Especially since the rest of the country seems to be in blizzards? I had to turn the heater off because I have been roasting to death in the house. Last week I found myself thinking about what flowers I should go get to plant in the yard. Just weird!

Grub with the Grinch

Saturday we had a fun time in Whoville having breakfast with the Grinch at princess E's school. Since both girls are working very hard to over come their fear of all things dressed up, it took quite a bit of convincing that it was just someone dressed up like Halloween before the day arrived.

They had a little fireplace, and the Principal read the kids the Grinch who stole Christmas story.

The highlight though was having your picture taken with the Grinch himself. I do have to say that the mask they had, was pretty scary. Hence why I don't have a picture of the girls with him. (pretty sure it was a her)

LOL, gotta love the look on Princess E's face. They had the stage made up like a little store where the kids could go shopping for gifts for their parents. I can't wait to see what they chose our special for me.

Never a dull moment

Princess M has had me rolling all morning. She has such a unique personality. My life would be so boring without her around. So I wanted to give you all a glimpse of some of the things she says to make our days brighter.

Heard just this morning out of the blue, "Mom, remember, pigs don't eat pine cones. Squirrels sometimes do. But pigs don't."

- "I love you poky head" (to King J)

-"you are so welcome, dad"

-"There you go little fella" (helping her dinosaurs)

-"Gotcha! little fella " (catching bugs in a board game)

-"Jesus, lives way, way, way up high in the sky hu?" to which Princess E added "yeah he lives up there on Jupiter'"

-Dad "Our house is keeping us safe from the thunder", Maddie "but it isn't funderin in the house, I am scared of the funder outside our house."

"Mom, elifunts eat hay. Yep they do, yep. Right mom?

And just for fun, this her hairdo last Christmas And this was at Thanksgiving. What a difference a year without her sisters hair cutting skills makes.

At last

Oh the Leaves

So for fun I thought I would show the trade off for all those beautiful fall leaves we had a few weeks ago. Millions, and millions of leaves everywhere! We just let them fall and left them for a long time. I mean we do live in the forest and all.
But eventually we broke down and bought a leaf blower. One to many neighbors made the comment, "Sure do have a lot of leaves there." But we still only blow the areas with grass and the driveway. I love leaf blowing. I think it is the best yard work EVER!

And can I just say how giddy I was yesterday when I was out blowing off the grass and underneath there was the brightest, greenest, softest moss growing. This is December people, and it is spring under my leaves. I am loving it!

I love this music video, I was mesmerized the first time (and every time) I saw it at the sheer energy it would take to do that start to finish! Makes me tired just watching it. Props to Beyonce.

He found the USB cord! So here are just a few of the pictures on the camera from the last month. I am working on getting Christmas put up the next few days and then I will post more pictures of the house. Thanks for being patient everyone. Life sure has gotten crazy lately.

Fall on our street

So I have told many people who ask, that I really have been doing OK not missing the Mountains of Utah. Because all the trees have my mind tricked that we are living in the mtns. It has been the perfect time to move here too. The weather is awesome and my favorite season is fall and because of the climate fall lasted probably 6 weeks of these gorgeous colors.

All of these pictures were taken just on our street. It is SO beautiful here. More than once it was heard from the back seat, "gosh mom, Heavenly Father sure is a good artist" or "look at that pretty red one mom"

These last 2 are just of our driveway. We had to break down and get a leaf blower, and boy that is the best yard work EVER! I don't complain having to do that chore one bit.

I can hardly wait to see the beauty spring brings to our street.

Halloween 2008

I know it is only like a month late but better late than never right??

Well our fall was kicked off over conference weekend while we were living with Grandma and Grandpa. Aunt Megan and Kirsten had a fun night planned for all the girls while the guys went to the priesthood session.Who knew that these 2 little princesses loved the gutts of a pumpkin squishing through their fingers.

The next thing we all did was put together a haunted gingerbread house. Princess M showed her bossy self when she said, "Uh, Megan you need to do a better job on this side of the house. It needs black over here." We all had a good laugh.

I don't know if there was more candy on the house or in the tummies.

We haven't actually carved our own pumpkins since Princess E was a baby. They both used to freak out for some reason when we would cut into it. So last year I just bought some plastic light up ones and this year we found some really fun potato head type parts at Wal mart and we had some really fun pumpkins. Next year we will carve though, since I now know they LOVE it.

And here is are the cutest Jo Jo and Butterfly that you ever did see. Princess E HATED, I mean hated her Jo Jo until we did her make up. She was in tears "because everyone is going to laugh at me" But once that make up went on, it was like magic. Princess M went all over the house with her little arms flapping and saying "Bzzz, Bzzz, Bzzz" it was hilarious.

We had a really fun night and this was the first year that we actually went door to door. Thanks Aunt Megan and Kirsten for coming down and going with us.

Dang it

So I had planned to spend my day blogging all of our Halloween and fall pictures. Along with pictures of the house. But I have seriously misplaced the USB cord. I had it in the hotel but I have no idea what corner it made it's new home once we moved. So hang in there. I will post pictures just as soon as I can. I just didn't want you all to think I had forgotten.

Is it time for a nap yet??

Because my body sure is ready for one. Well the furniture came while we were at church last week. It did my little heart good when we pulled up and the big truck had to park out on the street and they had to not only haul our junk up all the stairs, but the long hill of a driveway that we have. We only had a few casualties and acquired a few new bikes that we haven't seen before. But the majority of our stuff seems to have made it OK.

I have spent the last week unpacking, attending play groups and a RS retreat. I am glad I have been able to stay busy because homesickness is starting to set in a little bit. Good thing my mom will be visiting this week. That should help.

We have begun making a few new friends though. There is a really nice family that lives across the street who has 1 daughter who is 6 and the mom and I seem to have a few things in common. There are lots of enrichment groups that I have been able to attend to try to make friends in the ward too. But I sure do miss so many of you.

Who needs furniture anyway??

Not us I guess. We finally got them to give us a date that they would be here with our things on Wednesday. They told us that they could be here on Friday the 10th. (keep in mind we have been trying to get them to commit to delivering it the 9th for 2 weeks) So we spent our first night here last night on the air mattress. (good thing I thought ahead in case this might happen.) So I woke up this morning, really not expecting them to be here before 3-4 any way since they never called to give us a time. Just going off of the last interaction with them. All morning King J tries to get an answer from them as to what time we can expect them. They won't return his calls.

A dispatcher finally calls him and tells him that they can't get the driver to answer his phone. They will keep trying. We figure it is just our luck that the truck probably got in an accident or something and all of our stuff is gone. Around 2 pm she calls King J and tells him that the truck broke down in TEXAS (what the heck ???) and they won't be here with our stuff until Sunday at the earliest.

So like I said, who needs furniture anyway?

Homeless, Homeless, we are not Homeless

As of 4 pm today we no longer are homeless!! Hooray!! Now if we can just get our stuff here.

Bored at the hotel = lots of blog posts

So I am going on day 11 of hotel stay and I am going a little stir crazy. Well it has prompted me to go through some of the pictures on the hard drive that I haven't had time to post in the last few months with all the craziness going on. So you all get to benefit from my boredom. Enjoy, and there are more to come.

Fun times with our Christensen Cousins

Along with our trip to the temple, we were able to spend a few fun filled days with some of our Christensen cousins. Thanks for the fun memories.

I Love to see the Temple, I'm going there someday

We had a very special experience this summer when the girls and I were able to travel with my family up to the Twin Falls Idaho temple open house. I remember being a youth and going to the Bountiful temple open house so I was very excited to share the experience with my beautiful daughters. It truly was a special experience. Right when we got there, we took a moment all by ourselves just to look at the temple. We had a very spiritual experience as we just stood there together and sang their favorite primary song together. "I love to see the holy temple, I'll go inside someday." What a special time is was for me as their mother to see them so excited about making covenants there someday. Princess E was especially impressed with the sealing room and told me that that is where she wants to get married.

I am thankful for these sweet times with the spirit and my children.

Before moving, we took one last trip to the Aviary, or the bird zoo. Princess M insisted on taking pictures of all her favorite birds so she could remember all of them. I think she did a pretty good job. Not to mention, she was just the right height to capture them at their finest. I think Santa might be bringing her own camera.

A new baby flamingo was born just a few days prior to us going. Who knew they were black with long legs when they were little.
