It's life, deal with it.

The life and times - sprinkled with sugar, spice and friends; bamboo swords; seaweed and randomness.

snap!

This pic was from the "Study at UBD exhibition" last week. Yes, I went there - I'm thinking way way ahead about my future. What I'm trying to say is, I'm comparing the courses I'm interested in that are available in different universities.

I want to enter a Geography BA or BSc course, or an Environmental Studies BSc course. Basically anything geography-related or Environmentally-related. I decided not to engage myself in the Geology path.

why? Because Brunei can't just depend on Oil and Gas, people! Not just that, but I'm an amateur geographist and environmentalist - meaning too say: I'm EXTREMELY interested in Geo and the environment, so naturally, my life should be dedicated to these two.

My life, my choice - only we, ourselves know what we truly want and what suits us. =)

The visit to UBD was really interesting. It opened my eyes to a lot I didn't know Brunei had, or perhaps, that I never thought Brunei would have.

Not to mention, I saw Qahhar there. Mind you, he was the first person whom I know, who greeted me when I was wandering in the huge hall. CALI. Not him, of course. Just some of the stuff we talked about. The second time I bumped into him, he was like "oi, kan bahapa ko ani, agatah tanya tanya wah.. kan cari apa ni..." and he said it in a really annoying tone. =__= HAHA.

Eventually me and Nisha found ourselves at the Language section. Japanese, Korean, etc.. And while Nisha was talking with the Japanese Booth guy, I was thinking about some stuff, and

SNAP!

A photographer took a picture of me and the light! X___X Blinded my eyes~ HAHA! Kidding, it didn't blind me, it just.. surprised me. So I whipered to Nisha "oh crap! My picture got taken, Sha. Gila, what if I looked weird?!"

And people.... I must say.. I looked alright =p

Thanks to Abdul Khaliq Jr. XD Haha! Thanks! =p
(P/S: I grabbed these pics from you, if you don't mind, no? =] )

On your marks... get set..

omg omg omg! GILA KALIIII!!

Look at me, I'm shaking! In a matter of speaking, no d'uh~ *spasms*

okay... over Nazz.. overr... *slaps self*

oh hello people /=]

Alright, let me explain th reason for the spontaneous outburst of imaginary spasm I had just had. HAH. The thing is, BGIC is next week, and I SO don't feel ready. I don't know how to the the resolution, GRR. Well, technically I do, bahaha!! I just don't know... how the hell am I going to present it. :/ This is way different compared to giving speeches in the language labor class, or writing articles for the school newsletter, OR writing GP and EAS's ESSAYS!!! O__O" This is a conference that is mirroring the way the UN works. It's arguments arguments and ARGUMENTS! The whole system is influenced by disagreements and quarrels between one poltitician and another, between one delegate and another. OMG! =__=" This is so.. COOL XD

But seriously, I feel that I lack preparation. Two UN.soc meetings per week wasn't enough, I think. O__O" And Sir's been busy with school stuff and visiting ISB that we've missed loads of crucial practice sessions. Well, we are in form 6, so it'll actually be alright.. Basically we're going to befriend and face new people, and forum discussions, and as Sir had constantly repeated "disagree"

I quote; "This whole world doesn't agree with each other, that's how the world works; that's how the UN works. You can't expect everyone to agree, that'll just be.. mad!"

Sir's cool. HAHA. The cool thing is, we've sorta been counting the days since we were elected as the delegates early this year, and we've been doing loadsa research on our countries (mine being Benin xp).

Here is the list of names of the 10 PTEB BGIC Delegates - from the PTEB UN society:
1. Danial (A11) - Danny
2. Nabilah (A12) - Nabs
3. Siti Nazihah (A6) - Nazz = me. haha d'uhhh.
4. Hidayah Kharunnisa (A19) - Hidayah
5. Dk. Nuraffilah (A10) - Fils Fillet
6. Md Azeem Putra (A3) - Zimo ... si Momo
7. Ak Md Norhafiz (A10) - Hafiz
8. Norhafizah (A3) - Effyy
9. Amirul (A3) - Amirul...Bebot!! x)
10. Caesar Chin (A3) - Caesar Salad.

=) BGIC starts next week on Friday at ISB!! AAHH!! XD

The chill in the air.

I like this cold weather. (:
It reminds me of those cold, chilly Autumn and Winter days in Scotland. Make, that Autumn, because in Winter, it was icy and every time we inhale, there's this sharp chill of air attacking our throat, and the air there is less humid that it is in Brunei.

Yea, sure Scotland rains sometimes, but it's never as humid as it is in Brunei. And Brunei, compared to old Scotty, is considered warm - meaning to say, this cold wet weather IS warm. It's only, what? 20 'C? Summer in Britain is like 16' or like even 10'C! The sun may be out but the air is uber cool. OMG T__T" I wanna go there again.

So here I say, to those who think this is oh so friggin cold and unbearable: Think- the Temperate Areas... Think of the Cold and Wet season in Brunei to be the Summer in Britain, and just imagine the place to be 4 times colder than the Summer. :3 I know right, freezing! Our bodies will, of course, adapt to the temperature change and climatic change, not to worry.

The weird thing though, it's REALLY cold, even for Brunei, isn't it? The wet and cold weather - a comparison to Brunei's typical wet and hot climate characteristic. It's Winter in Brunei people! =] Snow from the upper atmosphere falls down to the lower atmosphere and melts to form rain-droplets, which bears low temperatures (having melted from ice) , hence: cold, heavy rainfall. The cold-moist air is due to the almost-saturated humidity x3 And why do we get extra wet ey? Because: human interference with the natural environment. The buildings and concrete/tiled floors cause the rate of infiltration and interception of water to decrease, thus water ends up as surface run-off, increasing the chances of flooding.

Another thing I learned today: the flood in the Temburong District is a strange phenomena, similar to that of the flood in the Tutong district, not long ago. The strange phenomena hardly occurs in Brunei till just recently. Reasons: strange weather and human interference with natural environment.

Did you know, the river in Temburong has been altered? it's filled with silts and mud hence increasing the river's water level. - the river's discharge has brought silt and other types of materials down the river and might I add, that the amount of load the river carries has increased over the years due to loss of soil and rock particles from upper area of the river basin as a result from DEFORESTRATION! =___="

Deforestration causes soil to be prone and exposed to weathering and erosion by water or wind, because there isn't any vegetation to hold the soil anymore. This leads to soil being washed into the river. The soil materials are transported and deposited along the river. Accumulation of the silt and soil particles gives a rise in water level, in the river and further leads to the river water spilling over to the river banks. Flooding. That's what happens afterwards. I skipped some geo details but basically these are the points that lead to flooding anyway.

GRR.

Well, the other reason ofcourse, is the weird weather. =] Although I'm quite fond of this weather really, but seeing as Brunei isn't well-suited for constant cold downpours of chilly chilly rain, I really hope for the best to come our way.

What lies before us.

I remember being asked a question by a teacher during a lecture in class. I can't remember when, or who asked it - but I remember the question and my mind state that time.

"Do you think the future will be much more easier than now, or the past?" said the teacher.

My opinion at that time was, "Ofcourse not. It's the future, and as we grow up we have to deal with more difficult stuff like A levels, and Degrees and jobs, then family. We have a lot of responsibilty!" - Technically, that wasn't the exact sentence I had said, but all in all, it meant the same.

To my surprise, I saw some of my schoolmates nodded and claimed that the future would, indeed, be much more easier than the life they have back then. They explained about how we'd have a job and we can get this and that to make life easier; we'd have tonnes of money; we'd be independent and free from this "PMB stress" - and the list goes on. Glad, it was only some.

The teacher however, did not say yes or no to any of us who answered. =__=" Although that part, I can't really remember. It was after all during the PMB years~ xD

Instead, the teacher explained how easy life was back then compared to what we'd face in future - basically she's saying the future's tough! Sure, we'll have money and an independent life of our own... (and the list goes on..) - but before that, we'd have to face exams, tests, obstacles - those that come in our way and where we'd have to apply the surviving skills also known as knowledge, wisdom, and instincts or... whatever we need to get pass daily hardship.

After PMB it's the O levels. After the O's it's the A levels (and mark my words people, A levels are WAY tougher compared to your Ordinary Levels... WAYYYYY tougher! It's only the 2nd month of my A level year and it's reached the mad zone.) Then, after finishing the A Levels, it's university and employment. It may sound easy just saying that sentence but in reality, it's really not that simple.

I've met people who haven't achieved their best in O's and A's, as well as in universities - life's never that simple.

Then, during employment, we' have to deal with taxes, house bills, bank loans, car payment, astro bills, phone bills, school funds, buying this and that, paying off debts, taking care of your siblings or children - AND THE LIST GOES ON~

=___=" Funny, I 've never actually thought about this topic much, unless it's during a time people question me about this, or when I bump into this question - usually on a piece of paper or lightning just struck.

Everything I've just said, has ofcourse been thought through by most people, and we'd all have to agree that life does not get easier by the second. And what do we have to do if that's the case? *hits whoever is asking that question, on the head* Overcome the challenges - and reach the best you can achieve. (That was mentioned to me by a university professor this afternoon by the way). Despite knowing what I have to do, I still seem a bit lost, and honestly, I, with no doubt believe, that my school mates, and teenagers alike are stuck in this sinking sand along with me, figuring out what exactly are we supposed to [HECK] do.

It all depends on that individual: there will come a time, when he'll know. Trial and error, logic, knowledge - their common sense. Sounds easy as pie? = no effing way.

This is where, education, wisdom and broad-thinking comes in, I suppose. Ooooh. Do I sound like a teacher? A lecturer? I swear some people think I'm better off to become one - but that's the thing, it's their opinion, not mine. I'm the one who controls myself, and I, therefore possess the power to control my future and what I'll end up being. Human nature. Another "oooooh".

So, here I am. Here we are. Are we ready for the future? We aren't? How can we even be ready for what happens in the next 5 seconds? There. Those five seconds have just went by, and there goes another one. We're never ready. We can be ready for something that'll happen in future - meaning to say a few days or months in future. Constantly, doing something to make a change. Doing something to actually control what is already in our hands. It doesn't take a second to finish off homework, nor does it take an hour to finish building an aircraft (a real one, that is). The same goes to us. It doesn't take a day nor a week to demolish the sense of laziness within us, and it does not take a day to become smarter than we were.

Where did these words come from? Me.
And where did I get them from?
Advices from a teacher, a lecturer, an adult.
Knowledge from experience.
Words that can come up into everyone's head, when they're thinking about it.
It's all there.
We just have to listen.
I may sound weird right now, but hey, I'm talking here.
And listening.

The student's job is to listen and understand. Without listening, How can you understand.
( Listening here doesn't just mean listening to the teacher or other people in class or wherever. You figure that out. ;p Although I'm pretty sure smua orang tau, bahaha.)
