We work closely with artists, authors and publishers to license the content that ends up in our collections. Each shirt is treated to feel soft and worn like a well-read book.

In addition to spreading the joy of reading through our tees, we acknowledge that many parts of the world don't have access to books at all. We are working to change that. For each shirt we sell, one book is donated to a community in need through our partner Books For Africa.'

Every cup hand brewed...and SO worth the wait.

Mama Carmen’s Espresso Café in Arkansas, is making a difference both locally and globally. The store purchases the coffee from Mama Carmen’s farm in Guatemala City, and 10% of the net profits go to Mama Carmen’s orphanage.

So more about mama? Her picture is painted on the wall of the cafe.

And after her son was rescued from drug dealers more than twenty years ago, she promised God to never turn her back on abandoned children. She has been faithful to that promise.

With very few resources, she has provided food, shelter, clothing and much more for over 300 children. Then six years ago, Mama Carmen was anonymously given a coffee farm.

The farm is ideally located - all that Mama Carmen lacked was the expertise to run the farm.

Inspired by her story, the store sent one of their coffee experts to assist with Mama Carmen's farm and to train one of her sons to run the farm and the coffee business there.

The rest as they say is history...and VERY good coffee!

EVERYBODY SHOULD READ STAN'S INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY

I was surprised to hear yesterday that my mum's best friend Angela's dad is a Chelsea Pensioner. 'Surprised' that I didn't know this before.

Having lived most of my life in London, I would always smile and say hello to the grand old gentlemen who would walk proudly up the Kings Road in their bright red uniforms. They were a British tradition, that I loved but didn't know much about - until now.
Because now, I know and can share the very true story of Stan, Angela's dad; who's in the photos above.

Known collectively as "The Men in Scarlet" - a Chelsea Pensioner is an in-pensioner at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. A retirement/nursing home for former members of the British Army, founded in 1682 by King Charles II. Upon arrival at the Royal Hospital, each in-pensioner is given a "berth" in a ward, a small room (9 feet x 9 feet) on a long corridor, and is allocated to a company. In-pensioners surrender their army pension, in return receiving board, lodging, clothing and full medical care.
Chelsea Pensioners can come and go from the Royal Hospital as they please. However, they have to wear distinctive scarlet coats, tricorne hats and their medal ribbons/insignia of the rank they reached while serving in the military. (It is illegal to impersonate an in-pensioner; at one time this was punishable by death.)
So, on to Stan's story – told by Angela: "We are very proud of Dad, he is an amazing man, very strong and resourceful. He was captured at the Battle of Dunkirk in 1940, aged 19 years...He served 5 years in various German prison camps in Poland (Stalags), until the end of the war, when he was rescued by the Americans. Just before the end of the war, the Germans realised that they would be defeated, so they marched the prisoners across Poland in the middle of Winter to Marienberg in Germany to get away from the Russians who were invading from the east...The theory is that they would use the release of prisoners as a bargaining point in the peace negotiations. The Americans saved them at Marienberg. He was very lucky to survive the march, no boots, food or warm clothing. Many men died on the march...Dad thinks that he was able to cope with the conditions because he had already served 5 years in a very harsh environment.
Last year he was interviewed by a film company for a film called The Long March, which comes out later this year. It is a documentary, and reconstruction of the journey across Poland. Last week an American film team interviewed him at Chelsea about The Battle of Dunkirk. He is in great demand!...What a wonderful life the pensioners have at Chelsea. He is never in, always travelling and attending amazing functions. They can't keep up with all the invitations! He's off to Buckingham Palace soon!"

It was the 319th Founder's Day celebrations with Prince Harry in attendance.

I wish I could've been at this show.
