pittsburgh

here we are!  pittsburgh -- a city of rivers and bridges.  it's beautiful here, lots of hills and trees.

we're staying temporarily in a hotel on the north shore -- just across from downtown.  mr. pike walks (about 20 minutes) or takes the "T" (about 10 minutes) to work.  his building is the castle-like building on the right.

we're waiting to close on our new home -- hopefully at the end of the month.  until then, i'm trying to hone my inner design star.  that includes research -- like episodes of my favorite hgtv shows (secrets from a stylist and anything from sarah richardson); google image searches; and pinterest surfing.

the kids and i spend our days playing around town visiting museums, getting to know town and our new neighborhood, and swimming.  (thank you, resident's inn.)  and when mr. pike's not at work, we try to spend as much time out of the hotel and exploring.

so, here marks the beginning of a new chapter for the pikes, our domestic adventures in pittsburgh.

time running out

if you haven't heard, we're moving to pittsburgh.

and our last month in chicago is slipping away.  we've been visiting friends, museums, parks, restaurants.  we will miss this town.  we will miss our dear friends here.

we're finishing up one adventure and heading to another.  stay tune . . . .

in the midst of boxes

even with little girl's play space greatly diminished by the towering boxes and totes in our family room, she has found a place to take refuge.

her old car seat is now a nice reading recliner. she's much more attached to the car seat now then she ever was when she used it.

hopefully, she'll be ready to relinquish the seat when baby boy comes around. i've already been hinting that we should give the seat to the baby when he comes. do you think she'll take the hint?

packing up

this is our family room. isn't it looking beautiful? it is to me, because this week is moving week.

and even though it's a mess and a maze to live in for a week, all these boxes show progress. (or at least i hope they do.)

now, back to packing.
