LEGO Green Grocer, Level 2

We brought our LEGO sets on vacation with us (our vacations are usually 10 days of doing absolutely nothing). And after an afternoon working on the 2nd level of the Green Grocer set, we put it on top of the dresser in the bedroom (to keep the dogs from knocking it over). My son showed his 19-year old cousin the work we'd done and his cousin said, "it's ugly." Since my son has his own opinions, he got his uncle to give a second opinion, and his uncle said, "its'ugly." So my son told me he was out-voted, and said he felt bad because he knew how much work we'd put into building it. To his credit, he said it didn't matter what the others say about it, he still thinks it's cute.

That's my boy!

By the way, we sort our LEGOs by color and put them in the Tupperware Divided Dish when we start building. Gives us a sense of "order" when we're staring at thousands of bricks. Gotta love plastic!

Wild Music

Eric and his friend Tai like to play "rock band." They put on sunglasses, and pick up whatever instruments are lying around, and start jumping on our green plaid couch. Eric calls this form of music, "Wild Music" because "it's fun." I call it, "go ahead and destroy my beautiful 30-year old couch with the saggy cushions because I really want a new couch."

(Don't let my husband read that, he LOVES the green plaid couch -- kinda matches his 30-year old golf pants, right?)

The Cookie Song

Here's Eric's favorite song, he calls it the "Cookie Song" aka "Ce Petit Coeur" by Francoise Hardy.

Let go of my Lego

I was working from home this afternoon when a friend called to say her son wanted a playdate with my son. Thinking this was an invitation for my son to visit, it turned out to be a request for babysitting at our house. After much deliberation, I decided, well, let's try working at home during a playdate even though I've got to get my work done AND get the house ready for a birthday party this weekend (how can I clean up during a playdate?).

Two hours later I discovered that while I was concentrating on work, the boys had taken down my LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum and my friend's son had smashed it on purpose (I'd worked 'til 1:30 am putting those bricks together!). At the time, I reprimanded both boys because even though my friend's son started it, my son didn't stop him from continuing. Luckily for both of them, I'm a Lego expert so I was able to put everything back together in record time this second time around.
