My sister, Nancy, and her husband, Dale, came to visit for a few days. We packed as much as we could into the time we had together. One of the amazing things we did was brought them to our floor in the library where we showed them what we do every day and Nancy and I stumbled on a line from our family that goes back to Massasoit, the Indian who helped the Pilgrims survive their first winter in New England! We will need to do some research to see if this is accurate, but we are happy with the discovery nonetheless!

Thursday morning, we had to work for a couple of hours and they came in with us. We had our mission conference in the afternoon and Mike was directing the Elijah Choir so they got to hear us sing/direct "God So Loved the World." He did a really great job! We spent the rest of the afternoon looking at houses in Daybreak! We saw some beautiful homes there. We had delicious Crown burgers for dinner.
Friday, after we worked a short morning shift, we headed to Park City for lunch and to explore Main Street a little bit. We ate at a wonderful lobster roll place called Freshies that Nancy had heard about on Instagram's FemaleFoodieSLC! It was kind of pricey which I guess is understandable since they overnight their lobsters in from Maine every day! It was out of this world delicious! We could have eaten 4 each!! It was just like the good old days when we were serving our missions in Boston!

After Park City, we explored the Harvard-Yale neighborhood and enjoyed the fall colors and the beautiful tree-lined streets.
We stopped by Hannah and Chase's apartment for a visit. Mike and Dale have a little friendly competition going on about who Addie loves more between the two of them. She chose Nancy!
Violet is learning to stand alone by the couch. She is growing so fast!! She's also eating all kinds of table food and loves Grandma Sycamore's white bread, but then who doesn't love it???
Saturday, we drove to Logan to see Todd and Kimiko's family in their beautiful new home and to visit Todd's workplace on the USU campus.
We had lunch at one of their favorite sandwich places, Even Stevens. It was delicious!
Jordy is such a sweet little guy! He joined us for lunch while Jax and Logan went with Kimiko's parents on a little outing.

This is a crazy "twig" sculpture at Utah State University. It brought out my trypophobia a bit! (fear of irregular patterns and textures) It's a real thing! Things like this give me the heebie jeebies!!
We were going to try to do sealings in the Logan Temple but were running short of time and didn't want to drive back in the dark so we opted for ice cream at the Aggie Creamery and headed back. The Logan Temple is where my siblings and I were sealed to our parents for eternity back in 1964. It's a very special temple to us. It's also where Steve and Jenny and Todd and Kimiko were married and it's where I had a very special spiritual experience where I came to know that Hannah Joy would come to join our family.
Saturday was also little Austin's 2nd birthday in Colorado Springs! We got to Facetime with him. Jaimee said he really wanted this doll for his birthday, so she got it for him! He is such a fun, happy little guy and is totally into playing with all kinds of balls; soccer, basketball, football and golf!
Saturday night, we went to see what is supposed to be Robert Redford's last movie, "The Old Man and the Gun." It was an ok movie but so hard to see him so aged! I prefer to remember him in "The Way We Were" "Jeremiah Johnson" and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
Sunday, we went to the Tabernacle Choir broadcast and attended church where Mike and I sang, "Consider The Lilies" for both branch's sacrament meetings. It went really well and we both really enjoyed singing. It's something I wish we could do more!

Sunday after church we had our annual Halloween party at Eric's apartment. He had it all decorated and set up perfectly. We had a fun time and the food was scary and delicious!
Nancy and Dale left after our dinner for St. George and then onto California in the next few days. We really enjoyed every minute we had together with them. Dale was still recovering from heart surgery that he had 5 weeks ago, and he was a little cautious and weaker than normal, but he was a good sport and really did great overall.
In other news, the library had an appreciation lunch this week on the 26th floor of the Church Office Building. It was a yummy chicken cordon bleu lunch and the views were spectacular!
Our missionary FHE group got together on Monday, October 15, 2018 and we went to a fireside featuring the WWII "Candy Bomber," Gail Halvorsen. He is 95 years old and still loves to present his story of how he and other pilots dropped candy over Berlin at the end of the war.
We feel so grateful to be serving and living here in Salt Lake City. We get to see so many of our wonderful friends and family from all over who come here to visit. We get to serve in a great place with amazing wonderful people from all over the world. We are truly blessed in so many ways!
