Moore Fun in Utah, the rest of the story

I got to stay in Utah for a week in between the big events so I made the most of it by spending time with special friends.

Jo and her husband Jim live in Highland and I got to spend three days with them in their lovely home. Jo came up for the race which meant a lot to me! She actually did really well in the race! She was way ahead of me and the stroller brigade that brought up the rear!

On Sunday, we took a nice drive up into the Uintas to see where the Provo River begins at the Provo Falls. It was a beautiful day for a drive and the falls were so pretty! 

That night I drove to Provo and had dinner at Eric's apartment with him and Hannah, a couple of his roommates and Charlotte. He made delicious crockpot creamy chicken, potatoes, and asparagus and Hannah made Brazilian Brigadeiros- a yummy chocolate treat.

We had a lot of fun eating, playing games and watching a documentary about strange little animals. 

Monday, Jo and I went to thanksgiving point and then met Jaimee and the kids at Swig for soda and treats. Then I said goodbye to Jo and headed up to Bountiful for my next stop at the Simmons home.

We had dinner at Chick Fil-A as part of another wonderful fund raiser for Paul and Joni. Here's a picture of some of the creators of the Paul Moore Foundation:

Such great gals! We were finishing up just as Joni and the girls arrived. It was amazing once again to see the support! Practically their whole ward was there!

Tuesday, Janice and I met Gerilyn Brown downtown Salt Lake City for lunch at the Garden Restaurant on the top floor of the Joseph Smith Building; delicious food, great company and what a view!!

Gerilyn has put in her mission papers to serve in the church history mission so we took her to visit where she will be serving.

We also visited the church history museum. It was recently redone and it is wonderful!

That night for dinner we got together for pizza at the Simmon's home with one of our favorite missionaries, who served in Longmont, Alex Haywood, and his girlfriend, Maitlyn. It was fun catching up and getting to know her.

Wednesday was another fun day with Janice. She showed me around the church history building where she is a service missionary and we went to a mission conference in the Assembly Hall where the Oliver's from our stake spoke. They are serving in the mission presidency of her mission! Small world!

We met our friends, Margo and Lee Rosenhan for dinner at Zupas in Sandy. They served their mission in Colorado in the archives but lived in our ward and were in our FHE group. We love them! They finished their mission and returned home to Lehi just a few weeks ago.

Wednesday night I spent at Jaimees dad's house. He and Teresa are always so generous to let us stay there whenever we need to. 

Thursday, I had lunch at In n Out with Hannah in Orem (always love spending time with my girl) and then went to Cindi's in Highland. I have some very special friends in Utah and it's so cool that three of them live within about ten minutes of each other -- Cindi, Jo and Cheryl (who is on a mission with her husband in Spain). Cindi and I have been friends since junior high school and Jo and Cheryl were two of my roommates at BYU! 

Cindi and I had dinner at Pizzeria Limone and went to Gardners Village with her girls and granddaughters. There were a lot of witches!!

While I was at Cindi's, she got me hooked on a Masterpiece Theater series called Poldark! We watched 8 episodes--the whole first season!! Loved it!! Have to wait until next summer for season 2! 

We had such a fun day just being lazy and eating too much (best peanut butter chocolate treat at the Blue Lemon!! We went to the movies that night with her hubby, Jeff, to see The Martian! So good and so much fun eating too much popcorn and diet cokes! 

Saturday, was Hannah's opera, Manon, at BYU!  Cindi came with me and we met Hannah, Eric, Adam, and Jaimee for dinner at Los Hermanos in Provo before the show. Hannah did a great job and we were all very proud of her!

Finished up the night and week at Sodalicious! These pop shops in Utah are so great!! 

Jaimee, Sophie and Tucker spent the week in Idaho and so Sunday we headed back to Colorado together. 

What a wonderful ten days! So many memories made and wonderful times with so many dear loved ones! 

Paul Moore Foundation 5K, 10/10/2015

The big day finally arrived and it was incredible! There was so much support! There were probably around 500 people who attended the race and/or carnival and that doesn't include the virtual runners who ran in other locations! For instance, Mike participated in Colorado and Todd ran 13 miles in Mississippi!

There was so much love and Paul and Joni were so happy and appreciative of everyone and everything! I was so glad to be able to be there!

Justin and Kira came up from Texas so that was a fun treat!  All the little kids were so excited to get to race!! They all made it to the end!

It was fun to see Jim Moore and his daughter Ady and her family!

There was a great carnival after the race with face painting, jumpy castles, food, a photo booth, etc. The kids had a blast!

I didn't get to spend nearly as much time with Paul, Joel and Glen's families as I would have liked but they all had lots of friends and family there as well so it was just good getting to be there with them! 

We sure are blessed with a wonderful family and so many good friends! It was a fabulous event and even better than anyone had hoped for! I saw people there who I hadn't seen in years! We appreciate so much the love and support of everyone!

Afterwards, some of us gathered at Costa Vida in Farmington for lunch. It was so fun to catch up with Brandon and Amanda Brady and their cute girls and Mark and Nerissa Bateman and their cute little baby. 

Fun to see all these boys grown up with all these little girls (and Tucker)! 

I almost forgot to mention there was a silent auction and Ellie and Reese had these beautiful original paintings up for sale! Artists in the making!! Great day for everyone!

Moore Utah Adventures! Oct. 8-18, 2015

I got to hitch a ride over to Utah with Tyler's family. I was going primarily for Paul's 5k and Hannah's opera but got to do a lot of other great things in between as well.

We took the scenic and very long route (lots of road construction) through the mountains. It was a fun trip despite the extra hours in the car.

We stopped for dinner in Green River, Utah at the subway near the freeway and my brother, Pat, happened to come in while we were there! I had texted him that we were there but he said he hadn't read the text yet.  It was a great reunion and we had a nice visit!

On Friday night, Eric treated me to the BYU Homecoming Spectacular starring David Archuleta! It was so much fun. I'm a big fan!

He sang with Vocal Point (BYU's acapella group) and with the Women's Chorus. There were also performances by the Ballroom Dance Team (Eric's roommate Adam is in that) and other performing groups as well. It was a very entertaining evening! 

Afterwards, we got Coldstone with Hannah and Adam and ran into the Robertsons who had come over to Utah for homecoming! It's a small world!

Estes Park, October 5,2015

We love our calling as the stake missionary housing specialists! We love going to meet the new host families and we love getting to know the missionaries. We got to go to Estes Park to do a housing inspection (such a fun assignment)! After the inspection and treating the Elders to lunch, we headed up into the park for a nice drive before heading home. We were hoping to see some changing leaves and some elk. We were thrilled to see a little of both!

It has been a beautiful fall here in Colorado! I think our flower garden thinks it's Spring again! These are blooming for the second time around!
