WWJD? Open carry madness

This post is not about the right to keep and bear arms. It is about a pastor with an assault rifle. When I saw video, my first thought was that if Jesus existed, I doubt he would walk about with a broadsword strapped to his back. How is it that any pastor act exactly opposite to the values his God exemplifies and do so without his fellow Christians giving him hell?

The pastor is Terry Holcomb. He is on a mission to get people talking about gun laws. I must ask, Is Jesus really a supporter of gun rights? Was that something covered in the bible? I don't think so. Do you?

Holcomb said customers and business owners didn’t complain until he got to Walmart. Within minutes a manager asked him to leave. Holcomb didn’t argue and walked out of the store as requested.
“Well, the Walmart in Huntsville definitely doesn’t honor 2nd Amendment rights,” he said in the video as he walked into the store parking lot.

“And that is their absolute right,” Holcomb told us in an interview a week after he posted the videos. “I respect their right just as much as I want them to respect mine.”

Accused pedophile pastor offering day care in his home

I'm beginning to think Jeremy Caraway might not be too smart. If you type his name into Google, my post on his arrest is the first item in the list. It only takes is a few moments to figure out that Caraway is awaiting trial on a charge that he molested a 14-year-old girl. How dumb do you have to be to offer child care services from your home in an advertisement on Craig's List?

A woman in Mobile, Alabama says she was searching Craigslist for childcare for her special needs son.

That's where she found Monica Caraway.

"She had a husband that was a preacher. She was talking about how she had a good Christian family. She had kids of her own. This woman seemed the nicest of the nice," said the Alabama mother of a special needs child.

The mother says when Monica Caraway's background came back clean, she googled Jeremy Caraway. That's when she found much more than she'd bargained for. Caraway was arrested in May of last year on rape, sodomy and enticing a child.

I'm betting Deep Thoughts played a part in preventing another case of child abuse. My blog scrolls by in a news report describing the case.

Can you imagine? Placing your special needs child into daycare with a Christian woman who does not disclose that her alleged pedophile pastor of a husband has a child molestation case pending? If it sounds unethical, that's because it is.

I have to add this to my WWJD list. It is a perfect example of the type of behavior we do not expect from Christians, yet there is is again.

Marriage rights and WWJD

This post is not what you might think. The Friendly Atheist posted on the odd case of Charles and Te’Andrea Wilson, who were denied the right to marry in a Southern Baptist church because they are black.  Mississippi, is still Mississippi it seems.

Hemant Mehta does a great job of reporting on these types of stories. He captures the shock and outrage of these odd WWJD issues in a friendly way. I usually pass on the stories because I know he will run with them. I’ve changed my mind thought. I plan on posting each one I come across under a new WWJD tag. I think the stories capture the essence of my problem with some Christians. That being, are they really living the values of Jesus? It is when we hear a resounding no roll off our tongues that we see truth. Some believers behave immorally and call it Christianity. They failed the test. Somebody needs to point that out to them. The more of us who point it out, the better. The members and pastor of the First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs have all failed the test. Shame on you Dr. Stan Weatherford.
