Happy Birthday to Ledger!!!

Today we kicked off Ledger's birthday with some serious splash time at the pool. Our local city pool has an awesome indoor play center for the kiddos.
Ledger loves the water and doesn't mind getting splashed.
He is getting so independent and curious.
We had lots of fun at the pool and now it's time for a nice nap :)

Happy 1st Birthday Ledger

Dear Ledger,

It’s hard to imagine that this time last year you were not here yet. We were at home waiting and many hours later we got to finally meet you. This year has been amazing, we have watched you grow and taught you so many new things. You have gone from a long, thin boy to a chubby, funny little guy. You started out at just 7lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long.

You are a crawling speedster and everyday you get more confident and fast at walking on your own. You love to explore and are very giggly and goofy. You love to play and snuggle with the doggies and they love you. We love you and can’t wait to celebrate another year with you. Happy Birthday Ledger.

We love you!

Birthday Party

Ledger's first birthday party was a success! We had LOTS of family and friends show up to help us celebrate his first year. Luckily the weather was nice so we got some of the older kids to play outside which made a little more room in the house (but a mess in my backyard).

I am hoping everyone will send me their photos from the party but here are some that I found on my camera...

Thank you to everyone who came to help us celebrate. Thank you for all the great gifts and all the love!!! We missed those of you who couldn't be here but we thought of you and you were missed.

Let Him Eat Cake...

I tried to find a bakery that would make Ledger a dairy-free cake but since no one would do it I decided to attempt it myself. I was a little intimidated but I was determined to give Ledger a cute birthday cake! I made Ledger his own little cake as well as a big cake for the party.I think they turned out pretty cute for my first attempt and it must have tasted okay because there wasn't one piece left!
A special thanks to Tahna for helping me with the cake, the invitations, the decorations and basically everything else.
Our kid does not mind getting his hands dirty.
Two very proud parents of an adorable ONE YEAR OLD. Can you believe it?

Looking Back

We are in full party-planning mode here at the Rasmussen house. I am making decorations, planning the cake and reflecting on various events, milestones, challenges, and happy memories. It is hard to believe that just a year ago I was on bedrest, laying here on my couch with my two lazy dogs. For nearly a month I worked from home and waited to see how and when this baby would arrive.

A year later my mind is whirling in so many directions considering possible adventures for the year to come and thinking of ways to nurture, challenge and explore the person Ledger is becoming. A little sadness is in my heart for the tiny baby that has gone but so much love, appreciation and wonder is there too for the year ahead.

Let's Dance

Lately Ledger really likes to dance. We like to crank up the music and jam :) Today while we were dancing a slow song came on and he put his head on my shoulder and let me dance with him for almost the whole song. It was the sweetest thing and it made me tear up.

Turn up your speakers and enjoy some good music. I put a few of our favorite songs on here and I'll try to get a video of him dancing soon.

January!!!

I LOVE January because everyone is energized and focused on making things better for the new year. People are almost as excited as me about things like organizing and goal making :)
This year, among all my other New Years Resolutions, I've decided to take the 52 Week Organized Home Challenge. Basically you focus on one area of your home each week. I'm so excited and my label maker is loaded and ready! This is one of those things about me that Marq didn't fully comprehend before marrying me but I think he has learned to accept it :)

This week... kitchen cabinets & drawers...
