So we just recently returned from California for the Belcher Family reunion. This was the 1st vacation that Matt has gone on in years. We had so much fun spending time with my family, going to Disneyland, and the beach. It was Matt's very first time at Disneyland and he was just like a little kid. He loved it. Too bad for Matt I couldn't go on very many rides with him so that was sad, but he still was able to ride all of the rides he wanted to a couple of times. Thanks mom and dad for taking him around so he could get the true Disneyland experience. He was still nice enough to take it more easy in the afternoons and hang out with me and go on the kiddie rides that I could go on.
Matt also loved his first experience at the beach. Or I guess I should say in the ocean. He spent about 6 hours boogie boarding at Seal Beach. The first couple of hours he had a hard time catching on to the whole riding the waves. But after much practice he finally was able to ride the waves successfully.
We had such a good time. I got extremely exhausted and am still trying to catch up on sleep and rest. Hopefully now that Matt knows what he was missing out on he'll want to go on vacation more often. He is such a hardworker and has a hard time taking time off to play. But it was a much needed vacation for both of us. Thanks mom and dad for everything!
(Pictures of the vacation are yet to come)

Who knew?
Isn't life interesting that right when you think you have things figured out and have a somewhat organized plan for the near future, you soon learn that you yourself don't know anything and are simply a rider on the roller coaster of life. So has been our experience in the last couple of weeks. In this time of decision I have found of late as I plan for the next two steps ahead I find myself starting over from 3 steps back. This vicious cycle seems to be like a song placed on repeat as each day seems to add to the dogpile of confusion. But I guess so goes the world we live in.
Last night as I returned home from an interview already questioning the next step in our young family's life we found that our computer had experienced one of these three steps back moments. The words "system error" should of meant something to me, but with that glimmer of hope that things would work out we started the restoration process only to find a few hours later that sure enough our computer still works, however every last document, piece of software, and even wireless internet capabilities were lost in the restoration process. Of late we have been counting pennies in order to trade in the not-so-trusty Sable of ours for a newer vehicle. Then the curve ball, either we start buying software to restore an already frustrating computer or go out and purchase a new one. Any suggestions? Ohh and the wildcard, do I risk getting back into the insurance/financial services and if so at what expense?
To say the least last night wasn't a big one for sleeping for me, as I watched my sweetheart fade into the night slumber my mind was carried away to adulthood (you know that undeniable realization that I now stand in the battle of life) Between all the things to consider I realized around 2 am that there are only two constants that I (or any of us can depend on), the truthfulness of the restored Gospel, and the love and bond we share with family and friends. No matter how twisted and frightening the roller coaster of life gets, it is upon the principles of truth and the support and love of those around us that carry us through the dark tunnel to that little light at the end of tunnel and our eternal reward. And so we push on. . .
