Snow Day: part 2

Yesterday was a great day for sledding. Today the snow is more icy, but good for building an igloo!

Here's Kiersten working on her igloo. We just came in to warm up for awhile. We'll see if it survives the six little neighbor boys who are currently having a snowball fight in our backyard.

Here's our neighbor's puppy. She isn't very helpful when it comes to building.

Here's Reagan. She wasn't very helpful either. (but don't tell her that) Well, she did play with the dog. That was helpful.

Snow Day!

After missing the Christmas snow we finally got to experience a beautiful blanket of white covering our neighborhood this morning. Actually, it started falling last night, but I made the kids go to bed because I was tired. Anyway...here's what we did in the snow!

The roads hadn't been plowed, and we had to take it slow, but we made it over to Dublin Park to do some TUBING!

We got to the sledding hill about the same time as a bunch of other people. They had all kinds of things to sled on. I saw cardboard, plywood, plastic storage bins, trash bags. Needless to say those didn't work well. When we started piling on the HUGE inner tube everyone stopped to watch...

It was all downhill from there! (ha,ha)

Look out for the tube train!

We met some friends while we were there. It's amazing how much attention a big tube can draw.

Even with a face full of snow, a fun time was had by all.

Kylie's face was warm all day!

I think Mike had the best time of us all!

Christmas 2010

I can't believe that I've already started cleaning up Christmas decorations! I just got off the phone with my little bro. and was inspired to take a few pictures of what's left. Blogging has been pretty far down on the list lately, and I've got to pack. So here some of our Christmas fun this year....

The decorations I made this year for our Stake Christmas festival.

Halloween Fun

Tuesday was a kind of scarey day. We had some bad weather. The tornado sirens were going off and on most of the day. The kids were sent home early and spent awhile in our little "storm shelter" (think sleeping bags on the floor of the pantry) until I got home to tell them it was O.K. to get out. I'm so lucky to have such great, responsible kids! All of our activities for the day were canceled (insert squeal of delight here) so we had an evening of family fun!

Did you know that Halloween is on Sunday this year? Well, it is. That means no trick-or-treating for us. You would think that this is the scariest thing you could say to my children!

Fortunately, they will have several opportunities to get plenty of junk. We've had the ward trunk-or-treat, that is about the amount of candy I'm comfortable letting my kids have, but they want more! Publix is giving away candy on Saturday, wait let me check, yep 4-7 for kids 12 and under (sorry Kylie) Lastly, some one is planning a ward trick-or-treat route for Saturday. So don't feel sorry for us. We will have more than our fair share of candy.

Anyway, here are this year's pumpkins. I restrained myself and let the girls do everything by them own selves. (does that sound southern?) Well, almost by themselves. Here's a shot of our lovely assistant who helped where help was needed.

Note: Kylie got 8 inches cut off her hair this last weekend! This makes her third donation to locks for love.

A Little Bit of Volleyball

Kylie's middle school played the team that knocked them out of the tournament this weekend. Let's just say revenge is SWEET! Kylie had a great game. She was right where she needed to be to make some spectacular plays! (if I do say so myself)

Awesome sets....

awesome hits...

awesome blocks...(ball after hitting Kylie's hands and going back into the face of the hitter!)

happy Kylie!

A fun time was had by all! (all the Lions fans that is)

A Little Bit of Soccer!

What a crazy busy weekend! Kylie's middle school team had a tournament. Let's say they are still undefeated in regular season play and leave it at that.

Kiersten's team was up in Franklin, TN. They played some really tough teams and had a fun time! There's my #5!

This is what it looks like to work the ball past your defender and......

take a shot!

Here's what a goal looks like. (a little blurry)

I'm so proud of Kiersten and what a good sport she is! While she is on the field she runs her guts out and plays wholeheartedly. When the game is over, it's over. She had fun and is ready for whatever comes next. Go Kiersten!

What we did this summer

SLOWLY and surely I've begun working on photos from this summer. My goal for myself this week is to edited one day at a time. I am WAY behind on blogging. Kiersten's soccer and Kylie's volleyball seasons have both started and I haven't posted one picture!

Grandpa Jack took us to the lake to feed the ducks and geese.
Photobucket

They were happy to see us!

I think Tanner got his corn throwing techniqe down pat!
Photobucket

We saw all kinds of creatures that day. Of course all the geese, but some other interesting ones too. I thought this duck looked like he had no wings. He really did.
Photobucket

This goose reminded me of "The Lady" from one of my favorite books. (Whittington)
Photobucket

This duck only had one leg. I think it looks like it's doing good for having just one leg! Very plump!
Photobucket

The squirrel didn't want to be left out.
Photobucket

After awhile the geese got rather pesky!
Photobucket

It was HOT, HOT, HOT! Time to go home and cool off.
Photobucket

We didn't leave empty handed!

Much cooler!
