Wow real life…

Last week I found out that my sister in law, who is not married to my brother was killed in a horrible drunk driving accident.  My heart ached for my sweet nephews.  She was a wonderful mom and had two other kids and it is just heartbreaking.  Her and I kept in touch through facebook and phone calls but sadly it has been a couple of years since we have all seen each other.  We had recently talked about getting together.
Some family drama went down but it seems to all have calmed down for now and I hope that it stays that way.
My girls are doing awesome right now, they are busy and I am enjoying the time we have with them and watching them become who they are.
Husband has been wonderful, I just dont know I would be without him.  He is my world :)  not in a strange unhealthy way, just in the kind loving way.
So all is well in my perfect life, just a little heartache for others here and there.

When you see those pictures that just make you tear up.

What a loyal companion.  May be have a good home, warm bed and full tummy.

Life has gotten in the way

So I must take a step back for a few days.  Be back when I can.

So it is Friday and we survived the first couple of days

of school that is.
The 6th grader has 3 hours of flag practice after school today.  I packed extra food for her to have snacks after school.  I imagine that she is going to come home hungry.
The senior has her first water polo meeting after school.  Looks like a new routine is about to hit the house.
We survived, but I miss my girls I can not believe this has gone by so fast.  Will catch up with blogging over the weekend.

Should be Wordless Wednesday but

I have too much to say.
Today I officially have a senior in high school and a 6th grade middle schooler.  At this moment I just want everyone to stop growing up.  I thought I would love this but this morning I realized next year at this time I will only have one kid at home and that thought makes me sad.
I was also worried all day about then 6th grader getting lost and being upset. I had gotten used to her texting me all day, telling what she was eating for lunch and what goofy thing she was doing.  I got nothing until I got um, mom I am still in band text.  I quickly text her back and told her I would call the school.  I did and everything got fixed, then later in the I got a it got changed thank you, text.
I also got the my schedule is changed and good from the senior.
They had a great day and I was grateful that I was able to be there to drop them off at school but I was sad that I was not there to pick them up.  I am sad that my girls are growing up to fast and maybe I am not quite as ready as I thought.  I am sad that it was the last of the first days of high school for my senior.
I just feel old.  Really.

I love perfect weekends

I had to pick up husband from the airport late Friday night.  I decided to pick up a girlfriend and make it a fun night out.  Dinner, movies and then pick up husband.  We went off and had a great dinner and rushed to the movies where we enjoyed Friends with Benefits.  Then it was time to pick up husband.  He at this point had been up almost 24 hours.  Hungry and a little loopy from lack of sleep, off to sonic we went.  YUM!  But then it took us forever to get  home due to a bad accident on the freeway, bummer.
Saturday we headed down to the beach for the US Open of Surf and had fun.  Once again I am sunburned in strange places.  Knee caps.  Who would have known.
Sunday Husband and I went out for a date, lunch and Ikea. Such excitement but we always have fun.
The girls should be done with school shopping now and I am sure there will be a few stray things we have to pick up here and there but Husband can do that.

Torture I tell you

I have 2 daughters.  Two daughter that like to shop thanks to their grandmother.  I do not like to shop.  I am a, “I am looking for one thing and will walk in and out ONE shop to find it”.  I am not an endless shopping person.  School starts in less then a week.  This weekend is jam packed.  Husband is out of town.  I had to leave work early for kid duty yesterday.
That meant school shopping…
We started at 3:30ish and they finally let me eat about 7:15ish.  They knew it was time to stop for their health.  Mom was fading, cranky and that means the money stops if I get crankier.  So I heard, Mom, you need food and fast.
But that was after shopping and the trying on of millions and millions of clothes.  I think at some point I started saying, I hate it to everything.  I can not remember, it was such a blur.  The hardest one to shop for is DD2, she is in between sizes.  We lucked out and found 3 pairs of jeans and a pair of jeans a few days ago.  Thank goodness, I was very very stressed out about that.  She will not be naked for school, since jeans is the only pants she will wear.
I am scared that the girls shop at the same places now.  But here is a funny, DD1 was waiting while we were shopping at Justice for DD2.  DD1 looks over and sees the camisoles that she has been looking everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE for.  I tell her, take a look, who knows.  She find something that might fit.  Size 18, then I hear Mom I am plus sized in this store.  I thought it was so funny, I snorted.  That got her started and we were a giggling mess in the middle of the store.
There was about a million more stores after that.
But they finally let me get food and drive home.  I went right to bed.
They need more tonight. Pray for me….

Don’t let comparison compromise your joy.

I saw this quote the other day and it kept rolling around in my head.
I had a friend and I use that term loosely, that just was not happy with her life.  I could not figure out why until saw this quote.
She compared her life with everything and everyone that it was not.  She was also stuck on the past and her happiness in the past, that overrode everything that was of good joy in her present.  When I found a time that I needed her the most, she had to have something of her own going on and was comparing my troubles with hers.  True friends do not do that.
I have had a life and times of great joy and times of not great joy.  I will tell you the times of joy override the not so great joy times.  It makes everything worthwhile no matter how hard it is.  But I think some of that is understanding what true joy is.  Everyone needs to figure that out for themselves, my joy may not be the same as your joy.
My joy is my husband, my children, my family, my beliefs.  In that order.  That is mine and mine alone.
My joy is not a house or needing to be wanted and feel important to all.  I am important to those that matter as are they.  I have no desire to make others feel bad about themselves by nit-picking them and judging them.
So don’t let comparison compromise your joy, you will miss out on life.
