See the Pretty Yellow Bird!

This male Goldfinch stayed on the shepherd's crook for a long time, contemplating his next move.

Finally, he took the plunge and went after the seed of the fading Zinnias blooms.

This is right outside our kitchen window where I have Zinnias, tomato and pepper plants.

He tried to stand on the same flower that he was picking seeds from;-)

I am trying to start a 'shade garden' in this area and already have a few kinds of ferns and two Astilbe plants.

 

We really enjoy seeing these pretty Goldfinch in our yard!

Notes from Augusta

I finally finished the book that I put off writing for too long.  This is what I put together from the diary I kept and the blog entries I made while we were in Augusta, GA witnessing God's healing power.  I felt that this is a story that needed to be told as a reminder that when we turn everything over to God, He can use even the worst circumstances to show His power and bring glory to His name.  Thanks again to all of you who prayed for Joe!  (in the right hand bottom corner you can click to make this book full screen then hit escape to exit.  Please excuse any errors in typing and grammar.)  It will be on my sidebar for anyone to see later.

Afternoon at Bluff Lake

Here are a few of the things we saw Friday afternoon at Bluff Lake in Noxubee National Wildlife refuge. 

Is he fishing, or just meditating;-)

At Goose Overlook, there was one doe deer and a few birds.

I was excited to get to photograph this beautiful male Blue Grosbeak.

There were acres and acres of waterlilies in the shallow water.

 

I never am sure about the names of these birds.  Is this a Great White Egret?

This lazy bird is standing in the shallow spillway, waiting for a fish to come by!

There is a quarter mile boardwalk through the woods over shallow water to the overlook to see the nesting place of many of the birds.

The trees are full of birds!

This is an orange double Hibiscus we saw at the visitors center.

Grandchildren

Five years ago, Jeep's first grandchild, Wesley, served as Best Man at our wedding and my first grandchild, Kymberly,  served as Maid of Honor.

This year on May 12th, they both graduated college on the same day!  Wesley received his Masters degree in Divinity from the Memphis Theological Seminary, and Kym received her BS degree in Elementary Education from Ole Miss at Oxford, MS.  Their graduation ceremonies were at 9 and 11 A.M. so we couldn't attend both.  We went to Kym's and then we made it up to Wesley last Sunday by going to Jackson, where he was Commissioned.  After he serves for two years as a pastor, he will be ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church.  He has been appointed to serve Cooper's Chapel near Quitman, MS.  Kym is hoping to land a teaching job at a school that is close enough for her to drive to work from home.
