Skywatch Friday

There are at least 6 or 7 of these juvenile Bluebirds around our house.  They come late in the afternoon to bathe in the water I put out for them.  I saw this one high on the wire and couldn't tell what it was until I put it on the computer.

Lately, every morning about sunrise we hear the Geese honking as they move fairly low from wherever they spent the night back to the lake near our house.

Late in the afternoon they come by honking loudly as they go spend the night at another lake.

Last Sunday my nephew called my attention to some pretty clouds in the southwest.  The sun gave them a pretty pink glow for about 15 or 20 minutes.

Color on Monday ~ Black

This is the last post for the 'COLOR on Monday' Meme, hosted by Jen at Unglazed.  Click on the  button on my sidebar to visit her blog and see what others are posting for the color Black.
Thanks to Jen for hosting this fun Mini-Meme!!!   Here are some of the Blacks from my archives.

We saw this big Black Bear down in the woods in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

There are lots of Crows is our area.  They are very hard to photograph because they are so black.

This is one of the pretty black Butterflies that visit the flowers in our yard.

A huge black grasshooper we saw on the coast.

Black Freshwater Rays we photographed in TN at the Chattanooga Aquarium.

I like the way this picture turned out to be a black silhouette.
We saw this unknown couple at Lake Chilhowee just as the sun had set.

I'll close with a couple of old black and white photos.  Isn't Jeep and his calf just the cutest thing!

Today I am thankful for the beauty we have seen in Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

"Golden Girls"

In 1954 there were about 53 of us who graduated at good ole EHS.   We have class reunions regularly.  There are about 18 of the girls who still live in this area.   Once in a while we get together at a restaurant or if we are lucky, at someone's home.  Yesterday was such a day.

This is our sweet hostess!  I started first grade with her when we were six.

We did a lot of gabbing, catching up, and telling tales.

Several years ago we dubbed ourselves," the Golden Girls" after the TV show that was popular at the time.   There were thirteen of us who enjoyed this fun occasion.

I had taken just a bite when I thought about making a picture of our delicious food.  Ham, Pimento and cheese sandwiches, potato chips, broccoil salad and orange fluff salad, and I chose peach tea.   I was so eager to taste the wonderful desserts that I completely forgot to photograph the Banana pudding, Pecan pie and Caramel cake, which were served with coffee!!!

We served our plates here at the bar and then found our places at the tables in the dining room or breakfast room.

Six of us sat in the breakfast room and this was our view out the back.  As you see, they live right on our local lake.  From their front door, I can see my son's house up on the hill.

This is part of the group that ate in the dining room.  I caught them in a rare quite moment.

One of 'the girls' played a few pieces on the piano.

Then someone suggested a little Boogie-Woogie.

We have several very fun loving classmates who are always willing to entertain the rest of us!!
Good job girls!!!  And a good time was had by all!!!
Thank you so much for a fun day, R.R.
♥ you!

Today I'm so thankful that our classmates keep in touch and share our joys and sorrows!

Colors on Monday ~ Brown

Here are some of my favorite Browns.  Click the COLOR button on my sidebar or HERE to go to Jen's blog to see the browns others are posting for this fun Meme.  Next week, the last color is BLACK.

This is the eye of our neighbor's horse, Babe.

The Buckeye Butterfly's background color is brown.

We had fun getting close to this brown Elk in Cataloochee Valley, Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

This little but loud Carolina Wren is one of my favorite brown birds!

Joy's Mississippi Mud Cake has to be one of my favorite (brown) desserts!

Mingus Mill is a favorite Brown scene in the Smoky Mountains.
