Prophet and Apostles

We watched General Conference last weekend, and to help Kaylie get ready for it, we did a quick Family Night to show her who the prophet and apostles are. I printed off two pictures of each apostle and the prophet so we could play Memory with them. At first, she thought all of them looked the same (all older white guys look the same, right?), but just a week later, she knows all of their names by heart! She's amazing. :)

Oh Boy, I've Got Joy

Joy School started today!  Yippee!  Kaylie has been so excited, and she had such a fun time with her school friends today.  I volunteered to teach first, so all the kids came over here today, and they did great!  This should be fun.

What We've Been Up To

I realized that it's been a while since I posted, so here is a quick monthly update on what we've been up to:

Memphis Kiddie Park
We went to this cute little amusement park with rides just for kids.  (You had to be under a certain height in order to go on the rides.)  Kaylie's favorite were these cars.  The staff person would spin them around when they got to him, and Kaylie thought it was hilarious!

Squire's Castle
In one of the metroparks, there is a small castle that you can walk around in, with a big park and trails all around.  It was supposed to be a full-on castle, but after building the gatekeeper's house in the early 1900's, the rumor is that the owner's wife didn't like the country, so he never finished it.

Playing frisbee...kind of...

First Bike!
We got this cute little bike for Kaylie a few weeks ago.  We were driving home one day, and saw a bike sale off the side of the road.  We got this bike for $25 (not that great of a deal, but cheaper than buying full price I guess), and we have had fun teaching Kaylie to ride up and down the driveway.  (The first time she fell off the bike was funny.  We had to document the whole thing in sidewalk chalk before she would get back on.)

Feeding the Ducks
It's amazing how much fun feeding the ducks can be with a toddler.  Kaylie got so excited!

First Movie - Winnie the Pooh
I took Kaylie to a movie for the first time.  She still won't watch a full movie at home, but she did so great in the theatre and loved Winnie the Pooh.  It was so cute to hear her laughing through the whole thing.

Reading Spot
Kaylie's new reading spot.  She sits on the arm of the couch, and tucks her feet under the couch cushions so she can reach back and get all her books without falling off.

What else...Mark and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary, and my birthday too!  Mark got me an iTouch, which was a total surprise, so if any of you have apps that you like, let me know.  I'm looking for some fun games (toddler and for me!).

Kaylie has made HUGE progress in the social department over the last little bit too.  We can now drop her off at nursery at church, and she stays the entire time (and loves it!).  I really thought that would never happen, so it has been so nice!  She is going to be part of a joy school this fall, and with how well she has been doing, I think she may actually go and have fun.  It's so fun to see her having fun with other kids and not being so scared.  I love it!

Sulfur Springs

Can I just say that I am so happy Mark is done with school?  It is so nice to have him around again on the weekends so we can do stuff together as a family.  This weekend, we decided to check out Sulfur Springs, a cool spot on the river that has small waterfalls to play in.  It was awesome!
