My home is a refuge not only from the world, but from my worries, my troubles, my concerns. I like beautiful things around me. I like to be beautiful because it delights my eyes and my soul is lifted up.

It’s official!!! Today is Marks last day at Zions Bank.

He is RETIRED!!

After working hard, and providing for our family in a generous lifestyle, I can’t say enough how happy and proud I am of my husband.

He is a great man, who is unselfish and willing to help others find jobs, or mentor them on how to better their life.

My sons know how to work because they have been taught by the best..Their “DAD”

I love him, and look forward to some down time, some travel time and serving together in our church, family and community.

And…..Maybe I’ll just sit by Mark’s side and do nothing yet feel perfectly happy because I’m with the one I love.

xoxoxo

*******I went to Lunch with Mark today and he read to me what he sent to all his friends about him retiring.

I decided I wanted to add this for posterity sake.

 “When I was in 3rd grade my teacher Mrs. Sullivan had us study poetry.  I remember I didn’t like it.  I wasn’t sure what the poets were saying.  When Mrs. Sullivan asked the class to write down on a piece of paper in our best printing our favorite poem I was in trouble.  I asked  my father for help and he showed me a poem by Henry Van Dyke.  This poem seemed clear to me.  Dad started taking me to work with him when I was five or six.  I enjoyed working with my father.  I have enjoyed work ever since.  The old 3rd grade writing paper is yellow now and the pencil printed letters so carefully written are sometimes hard to read.  I have the poem at home on my desk I have kept it all these years”.

Let me but do my work from day to day,
In field or forest, at the desk or loom,
In roaring market-place or tranquil room;
Let me but find it in my heart to say,
When vagrant wishes beckon me astray,
"This is my work; my blessing, not my doom;
"Of all who live, I am the one by whom
"This work can best be done in the right way."
Then shall I see it not too great, nor small,
To suit my spirit and to prove my powers;
Then shall I cheerful greet the laboring hours,
And cheerful turn, when the long shadows fall
At eventide, to play and love and rest,
Because I know for me my work is best.

Henry Van Dyke

March 31st will be my last day working as an employee of Zions Bank.   I have sincerely enjoyed working there.  I would especially like to thank Harris and David for being my friends.

March was a “GRAND” month

My “grands” outdid themselves during the month of March…It takes a lot to keep up with all their happenings. Here’s a little of what has been going on in the Heugly clan.

Alexandra was very sick. She was dehydrated and had a bad infection.

No one likes to get sick, but they love treats from grandma and grandpa.

March Madness…

Jake, Mark and I had the opportunity to travel to New York for Marks last “business” trip before retiring and a little pleasure.

Jake had flown in from American Samoa and was exhausted. He was there representing Zions bank. Jake was made a chief and given all kinds of awards. He was in the newspaper several times as well.  Another bank had pulled out of Samoa, leaving a lot of unhappy customers and services wanting. Zions came to their rescue!!

Here is Jake in Samoa:

One night we had the pleasure to have dinner with our Jewish friends. Renon, Effie and their 5 kids. Effie works full time and still managed a delicious meal. We had Cream of Broccoli soup, yummy salad and bread, beef brisket, schnitzel,  barbecue potatoes, green beans almondine. Effie made homemade chocolate ice cream..Here is the deal, nothing had dairy in it..Very strange.

They can’t mix certain foods. They also have 2 dish washers, 4 sets of dishes, and silverware for certain foods.

We took Jake to the MOMA-- Museum of modern art.

We couldn’t resist this picture of a blank picture considered modern art. Alrighty then.

We also went another day to the Museum of natural history. The place the  movie “Night of the Museum” was made.

We had time for one Broadway show.

ONCE… Have you heard of it? Jake loved it. I liked it, but it did have some rough language. Afterwards we hit the top of the Marriot Marquis for some sliders and drinks.. Much fun indeed.

new york, various 3-2013 059

While in New York, our son Jake turned 36. (His twin Joe was celebrating at home without him) It was fun to celebrate with Jake, but he missed his wife and kids very much.

NEW YORK in March was crazy….The St Patrick's day parade was on Saturday and the MARCH MADNESS games were going on all week...

So glad to be home where my own craziness and madness is enough!!!

Dear Posterity:

Grandpa sent me this love note after our trip.

********************************************

Hi,

Thanks for a wonderful week last week.  You were so cute walking and talking with Jake.  I can’t believe how lucky I was to get such a beautiful wife and great mother.

I love You,

Mark
