Happy Birthday Marc

Sunday, January 13th Marc turned 23! It was more of a birthday weekend than a one day thing. On Saturday a big group of us went down to Texas Roadhouse (Marc's favorite) and went out for lunch. He especially loved when the whole restraunt was looking at him while we sang to him. You know Marc, he loves attention. On Sunday we had everyone over for a little winter barbecue. It was a lot of fun!

If I was anything like my mom Marc would have had a really cool cake that had something to do with what he enjoyed. My mom always made the best cakes, like a violin cake she made me one year. I thought about attempting something cool like that and then I realized that making a motorcycle or snowmobile was a little too advanced for my cake making skills. So, he just got a plain old rectangle one.

Scott, Cameron, Julia, Nate, and Jeramy were just a few of the party attenders.

Last Wednesday my little brother entered the MTC. Tanner is such a great guy and was a fun brother to grow up with. It was sad to see him go, but I know that he will do great. The MTC was the saddest thing. As soon as they turned on the projection screen on to start the program I started crying, and not just a little. It's not like anything sad was happening. All they were doing was posting the schedule for the rest of the day and funny facts about how much cereal missionaries eat and stuff. Marc noticed that the family in front of us turned around and chuckled at me, even Tanner looked at me and laughed. I'm such a baby! Poor Marc had no idea something could be so emotional with 4 girls in a family. Anyway Tanner hugged us all goodbye and he was on his way. We love him and will miss him, but we know the people in Detroit will be lucky to have him!

Missionary Day/ New Years

After Christmas we headed to Aberdeen for New Year's and Tanner's farewell. On the 30th we had two farewells (Tanner and Ladd) and one Homecoming (Cory) to attend in the family. It was a great day, a little emotional but it was great being around family. They all gave great talks and have and will be great missionaries. I am proud to be related to such great guys!

On New Year's Eve we had a Wahlen Family party at our house. I had promised Mckinley that I would help her make a snowman. I was hoping she would forget about that promise, but of course she didn't. The snow wasn't sticking together, but I knew Mckinley wouldn't settle for that excuse. So my only idea was a snowman laying down. It was a pretty dumb idea, but Mckinley loved it. Here are the results...

Christmas 2007

Sorry this is a little late, but better late than never right? Christmas started out great this year, Marc and I decided to open our presents to each other early so we didn't have to worry about hiding them from eachother on the trip. He suprised me with an ipod, a BYU sweatshirt, and a mall gift certificate. I couldn't have asked for better presents from him. Just don't ask him what he got from me. Let's just say I stuck to the budget and he didn't, what an unselfish guy!

Angie hosted a Wahlen family Christmas Party on the 20th. She prepared quite the party with a hot chocolate bar and all. I had McKinley for Christmas so she was able to open some presents before hand. We were also able to open presents from my parents, so Christmas started a little early for us this year. It was great! This is Mckinley showing off her new High School Musical barbies.

We spent Christmas this year with Marc's family. On Christmas Eve we had tri-tip steak cooked by Kevin, and a good program put together by Aunt Brenda. It was a fun night! Christmas morning started early of course (it was good to know that my family is not the only family that wakes up so early on Christmas morning). We opened all of our presents, and then headed down to Grandma and Grandpa Morgan's for breakfast. Another delicious meal!

Even though this picture looks like Mitch is the one with new skis, they are actually Makayla's skis. I think Mitch just likes being in pictures.

We had Mitch for Christmas, so as a joke Marc wanted to give him this UNC beanie(Mitch hates UNC and Marc loves them). We gave him a real present, especially after Marc asked for the beanie back. I was shocked that he would pose for a picture wearing UNC apparel.

I was able to particpate in my first Yellowpine shirt opening experience this year. Branson designed the T-shirts this year, so he opened his first! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Morgan for the awesome shirts.

Terry got a drill for Christmas, he was anxious to use it so he put a beater in the end of it and helped Nancy beat up the fruit dip. If I would have known that drills encouraged guys to help in the kitchen I would have gotten Marc one a long time ago.

It was a great time, and really hard to leave after being spoiled by Terry and Nancy with good food and a lot of fun presents!
