I will go out and preach the....Yugioh?

Last night we had a Family Home Evening on missionary work. Well, let me go back, it all started on Sunday, at church. Most LDS wards are on the same lesson, so as you know, the lesson on Sunday in Relief Society was on missionary work. We have 1-4 church so when church is over we grab dinner from the crock pot and eat fairly quickly upon arriving at home. Thus, much of our dinner conversation is, "what did you learn in class today?"

Justin: I like Sister Seaney, I like getting candy on Sunday. Is it fast Sunday next Sunday because we don't get candy on Fast Sunday.

Jakey: I am not sure, my teacher was back though. I played with....(some story goes here about some boy standing on a chair, I zoned out, my bad!)

Kevin: I don't know....I had the baby.

Me: It was on missionary work. Blogging and missionary work. :)

There is a benefit to having a RS presidency calling. I actually get to hear the lesson. My mom got called into nursery and she wasn't at church this past Sunday but I don't know if I'm ready to send Jayden in there. For now we're sending her to Elder's Quorum. None of them bite. :)

Back to missionary work. This lead to a short conversation about missionary work. Basically Justin asking if Kevin or I had gone on missions and why not. Dinner ended because Jayden finally managed to get ahold of the spoon I was weilding and flung sweet potato chicken at everyone around the table. Spiritual moment over.

Me being the slacker mom I am and procrastinator, just went with missionary work for FHE rather than plan something else. We started our discussion by asking Justin what he thinks missionaries do.

"They eat dinner at other people's houses."

"They wear suits on days other than Sunday."

and..."They don't watch TV for two. whole. years."

Jakey's answers were more inspired..."They teach people." "They visit the sick." and "They help people."

Ok....

So....

What will YOU, my two little future missionaries, be doing when YOU are on YOUR mission?

Justin: "I'm going to teach people to play Yugioh."

WHAT?!?! We all said, "you mean the Gospel?" Nope. He means Yugioh. We discussed how Yugioh is a nice game and all but Heavenly Father would really like missionaries to spread the gospel. So far, he's not having it. He wants to spread the RPG (Role Playing Game.)

This reminds me of what Jakey used to think about Kindergarten. For a year before Jakey started Kindergarten we'd ask him, "What are they going to teach you in Kindergarten?" and he would say, "How to cross the monkey bars!" The first week of school came and instead of learning his letters and how to write his name, Jakey could hardly hold a pencil because his hands were so blistered from trying to cross the monkey bars. Within a few weeks he conquered the monkey bars and proudly announced..."I learned how to cross the monkey bars in Kindergarten!"

Hair today....gone tomorrow...

Our little ragamuffin's hair was getting out of control, and she's not so found of me putting it up and playing with it...so today Jayden got her very first haircut! She's napping now, when she gets up I'll get an "after" shot.

(Those pictures were taken when J was sick, she's drinking apple flavored pedialite in one and has a tiny bit of a runny nose in the other and has ripped clips out of her hair in both.)

How Do You Know?

How do you know that you're done having children?

I had my annual GYN appt yesterday and after a lot of conversation with my doctor we've decided to go ahead with having a lap to look at my endometriosis. He can likely surgically remove it but, another option is Novasure. If I were to have the Novasure done I would have to permanently end my fertility.

Ending my fertility is not something I take lightly at all. I have a whole new appreciation for the miracle of being able to have a baby after what we went through to get Jayden.

On the other hand...are we really going to ever have more babies? Jakey is almost 9. I wouldn't consider having another child until I finish school, so 4 more years...that makes him 13. That means that any baby (that by some HUGE miracle I got pg right away) that I had would be 18 when Jakey is 31! That means when Jakey goes on his mission, that child would only be 6. I don't think I really want kids that far apart.

Plus Kevin and I started our family YOUNG. Eventually it would be nice to have our children grown and be able to have the couple time we missed out on.

So, I don't know. Kevin is not thrilled with the endo, or the treatment, or the lap...but could easily shout from the rooftops over the idea of never having another child again. He's VERY sure he doesn't really want another. He knows that if I did have the fertility, he'd likely change his mind in 4 years, but then we have to deal with all that I posted above. So yeah.

Anyhow, big decisions. Alot of prayer. Alot of soul searching to do. I have my pre-op appt on August 4th.

I'm just wondering how in the world people know they are done...I don't think I have that feeling. I'm very content with my family. I could easily get on board with no more sleepless nights after Jayden is grown. But never having another baby kick me from within? Never breastfeeding a newborn again? I don't know...

Aha! I FOUND IT!

The missing cord has been located and now I will bog down my blog with pictures and videos...prepare to be amazed by my gorgeous kiddos...hahahaha!

Jayden LOVES Clifford The Big Red Dog, she dances to the opening song whenever it comes on, it totally cracks me up. She also waves "bye bye" she says "die die" when she does it too LOL.

Is it time to babyproof our house???

Every evening we've been taking the kids out front to play in the sprinklers, Jayden especially loves this!

Jakey and Justin were playing a game of cards, Jayden cannot stand it when they do things she can't do, so they gave her some old Yugioh cards and she felt very included!

Today at Toys R Us Jayden rode her very first motorized toy thingy...you know the kind you put two (or more!) quarters in...yeah...she was a little worried, mostly that Justin was holding her! LOL

Ok, sorry to anyone who has dialup...this page will be a mess LOL!

Gremlins

Do you remember the movie Gremlins? We had it sent to us from Netflix the other day and yesterday Jakey and I sat down to watch it...it's rated PG and even though it's genre is Horror I explained to him it's cheesy but kinda scary...he said ok. Anyhow, he did jump in parts but we laughed SO HARD. It was HILARIOUS.

When Jakey went to bed last night instead of being afraid of a scary movie he said, "Bright light, Mogwai!" and we all started laughing again. I love some of the 80's movies! We're getting Adventures in Babysitting next week!

Final Grade

I got an A and a B for my two classes this summer! I'm so happy! Of course my A was a 92% and my B was a 94% and I find that REALLY odd, but what can ya do...Onto fall semester! I'm taking 12 units this fall, whereas this summer I only took 7 so I have a feeling I'm in for another rough semester until I get used to budgeting my time between classes. I'll probably not be such a great bloggy friend this fall too.

Ok, now onto my quest for the day - FIND THE CAMERA CORD. I have to SHOW you all how big and cute Jayden Face is getting!

My Little Diva

This morning I was sitting here with Jayden and she crawled over and got my empty Diet Pepsi can off the table (she pulls up now, isn't it fun??!!) and started playing with it. I had to take it away because the little opening could cut her finger. So I took it from her and she SCREAMED like "ARGH!" at me and then this look crossed her face like "oh I know what I can do!" and then she reached up, grabbed the bow in her hair, and threw in on the floor and snarled at me like "ha! I'll show you!"

Wow. No one told me what an attitude an 8 month old girl could have! I shudder to think of her with wonky teenage hormones. Yikes!

School's Out For Summer!

Well, it's done! I took my final yesterday for English and what's done is done! I think I did ok, not fabulous or anything, but good enough to pass English. I wasn't "feelin" the topic. The article was about Britney Spears and the way the media covers her...bleh. Not something I could really sink my teeth into. I got an A on my big paper I had to do last week! I go to school Thursday morning for a few minutes to find out my final grade in English...hopefully it's at least a B, but I'd REALLY like an A.

Now, I get to stay home today and work on laundry and other housework that needs to be completed and FIND THAT CAMERA CORD! The past few days we've been taking the kids outside in the evenings to play in the sprinklers and eat popsicles and Jayden is a HUGE fan of this family time. She LOVES to crawl on the concrete and run away from the water. She also would really appreciate it if we'd turn our heads and let her eat some of the exciting things on the ground outside! LOL

The other irony of my life is that every morning I had school I had to get up at 5:45 to get ready and none of the kids woke up until I woke them up just in time to leave, so that they had to get dressed and eat at my mom's house. Now I'm done with school and guess who woke up at 5:45? Evil little stinker! Yeah so I won't be disappointed with an early nap from her! Yawn, I'm tired!

Where, O Where, Has My Camera Cord Gone?

The other day I caught the cutest video of Jayden crawling around the house after Jakey as he kept moving a popsicle stick she wanted. It was the first video of her actually crawling on all fours! Later that same day Jayden was sitting at my feet while I was typing up a paper for school when my screen flashed a little warning "USB Device Cannot Be Recognized." I looked down and Jayden had the camera end of my USB cord in her mouth, my computer was trying to read my baby! LOL I quickly removed the cord and put it where she couldn't get it...I hid it...from her and ME!

So just rest assured, I have a cute video somewhere...sometime I will upload it....and it WILL be cute. Of course she may be walking by then...

Right now she's not being so cute though. Right now she's upset because she fell asleep for her morning nap and as I got up to go lay her down Jakey chose THAT moment to ask me a question, waking her up. I decided she still NEEDS this nap. I'm gonna have to go back in there and soothe her again though. If only she wouldn't wake up at 5 am...then she wouldn't NEED a nap at 8 am! Sigh, someday she'll understand the logic of this...

Several Posts Jammed Into One!

So this is my 599th post! Yay! And where have I been? Crazy I tell ya, crazy! This is the last week of instruction, a week from tomorrow I take my English final and I'm done until late August! Yay for me!

* I barely passed a TB test this week...my arm has a big bump on it and it's red still, it's kinda crazy because I've always just had the spot go right away, this time it's staying with me, I had it done 7 days ago! I'm kinda surprised they passed me! It did take a bunch of them conferring to decide I passed though. Interesting, huh?

* While looking at an Ensign today during Sacrament Meeting that had the Prophet and his counselors on the cover Justin says, "Look Mom! The Prophet and the Fossils!" Fossils=Apostles. Hey, I thought it was pretty funny!

* Jayden likes LOUD fireworks. Alot.

* Jayden had a super high fever on the 4th of July and missed out on a pancake breakfast (I stayed home with her) that Jakey's cub scout pack put on. Since there aren't many other children (mine are the only young ones) in Kevin's family, we still took her over to Kevin's grandparents for the 4th, my mom even came over, and the kids had fun with some fireworks.

* My mom got called to be the nursery leader today. She watches Jayden for us 3rd hour because Kevin and I have stuff to do for our callings then, so Jayden's going to nursery. Not this weekend though, Kev stayed home with her just in case her fever isn't related to the two teeth she just popped through. Our bishop is still going through Chemo and missed his last round because he'd caught an illness.

* Kevin took off the 31st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th so he could go to the cabin with us! Our friends David and Yaneth are coming up too! Yay!

Ok here's some random pics...LOL

Doesn't Jakey look THRILLED?

I have some seriously cute kids, even if one of them doesn't want to be in this picture!

My Little Pyro...

And with that, I try to find some motivation to write my paper...or not.
