Let's See if I Remember How To Do This...

...update the ol' family blog! I know, I used to be an avid blogger, but then Facebook happened. Oh well, bloggy is back!

So, want a funny Jayden story? She got into my makeup tonight and when I told her she shouldn't do that she stood up straight and tall, looked me right in the eye and said, "this MY how!" (translation: this is my HOUSE!) Meaning, she's going to do as she will and I better not get in her way again. Ok, your majesty. The only troubling thing is, I didn't know what to say to that!

A funny Justin story? Justin drew a picture of Jesus today in Primary. He brought it home and says, "I drew a picture of Jesus, but my teacher kept telling me to put Hey-Suess (Jesus') name on it." I said, "Who is Hey-Suess?" And Justin says, "A kid in my class...how do you spell Jesus?"

And a funny Jake story? Jake is wavering on his "I'm too old to trick or treat" stance as his 10th birthday approaches. Kevin took Justin and Jake to the costume store and Jake couldn't handle being "left out" so he begged for a Snake Eyes (GI Joe) costume. The biggest size they could find it in is size 12. Jake is 5 ft tall and weighs 70ish pounds. Today he tried on that costume and I had a good long laugh. He's prepared for a flood and that suit is SKIN TIGHT. It's really something you have to see to believe. And see you will if he wears that thing on Halloween! Oh my goodness...it's SO small!

Well, hello there!

I know, I know! At the park last Friday I was asked if I had abandoned my blog. After converting several of my IRL friends to blog-world I totally up and abandoned my blog! My reason? Holy heck am I busy! Seriously!

So what's up?

* I quit my job. I went part time, but things went down that made it clear that particular Skilled Nursing Facility did NOT need my services...or at least I did not need the crap that went down there! In an effort to protect my future earning potential (you can't get a nursing license if you lose your CNA license cause your facility sucks!) I quit. It really was a good decision. I have intense guilt over the wonderful residents I left behind who are not getting the level of care I gave them now that I'm gone. :(

* I am SO. CLOSE. to getting a B in Anatomy and Physiology. If I do decent on my final then I might get one! I worked SUPER hard to even get a C. And I'm an A student! This is just a seriously hard class. Seriously.

* My babies are getting so big! Jake is finishing up 3rd grade and ready to move onto 4th. He'll be doing summer school to prepare. Justin is about to graduate (with cap and gown!) from Pre-Kindergarten and move into Kindergarten! He's super excited, although I don't think he realizes his Pre-K teacher isn't coming with him! LOL And Jayden started Nursery this month! 18 months old! Can you believe it?! She's getting SO big!

Anyhow, there's the brief run-down. I have to go study for a test in A&P on Wednesday and for finals...I'll try to get up some pictures and more updates when I can! And change this horrible VALENTINE'S DAY background! LOL

So. Insanely. Tired.

Days that I have work and school just about do me in. But I'm getting more and more used to it. I usually have the same section at work, and therefore the same people and I've got some of the cutest residents! I enjoy working with them.

School is going good. I had a Medical Terminology test yesterday and one in Anatomy and Physiology on Monday that sounds scary. Anatomy and Physiology is a HARD class...there is a lot of memorization and it tests my ability to stay awake during an hour and a half long lecture when I'm just so exhausted. LOL. I think I know the material though so we'll see what happens.

Anyhow I need to update this poor blog, add pictures, and all kinds of stuff. But alas, after a 16 hour day of work and school yesterday I'm pretty much too tired to hunt down the camera and the cord to attach them to the computer. It'll have to wait for another day...

After my first week of working a fulltime job, I just have three words for you all - MY. FEET. HURT.

Ok, that's over. Onto more fun stuff.

I'm OFF for the next two days, and tomorrow I don't even have school! I'm so excited! I have a mountain of homework and housework to do but that's ok - I can do those in my pajamas from my nice warm home with my kiddos around me! I've missed my babies and I'm glad to be home with them tomorrow. I'm gonna check Jacob out of tutoring early cause I want him to come home with Justin and spend time with me!

Anyhow, I'm also gonna take some pics because Jayden is gonna be 15 months on Wednesday and I gotta take a pic of Justin before he turns 5! We're debating between birthday party, or just buying him a nice present (Nintendo DS) and going out of town for the weekend because his b-day is just after Valentine's day and I'm off that weekend. We'll see. Anyhow, see y'all with pics tomorrow!

The Good and The Bad

There are many sides to the working coin, on one hand it can be a very good thing, on the other there are a lot of downfalls to being a work-outside-the-home mom.

The Good:

1. Money. I mean being a CNA doesn't pay a whole ton, but it does help cover the cost of the extra car we now have and the babysitting for while I'm at school and at work.

2. The interaction. I like talking to adults. Some of my patients are really interesting people and it's nice to have the interaction. My coworkers are a fun group to chat with at the nurses station.

3. The experience. Getting this basic patient care experience will be very useful in my later career as a nurse.

The Bad:

1. My house is a disaster and I don't even know where to begin to clean it.

2. I don't get to see as much of my kids as I would like. I haven't seen Jacob since Tuesday hardly because I'm still in bed when he leaves for school and he's in bed when I get home from work...so yeah, but I'm off tomorrow.

3. This one is hard to explain. Your home is what you make it. You fill it with The Spirit and you keep it your sanctuary and as a SAHM you don't venture out into the world quite as much. The outside world only touches you briefly as you pass through it on your way back to your home. When you work you are exposed to many more situations where your home seems far away and not somewhere you can retreat to right this moment. I mean home is there for you at the end of the day, but not at the very moment the world begins to become loud and devoid of morals. This one is harder to explain, like I said, but it's definitely true...I'm out of my home, my sanctuary, far more than I am comfortable being.

Anyhow this experience is taking it's toll on all of us. Just because I'm not a STAY AT HOME mom, doesn't mean I'm not still a mom, so last night at 9:30 I get a phone call that Jacob must have 100 of something to eat to count out for their 100 day part (100th day of school) I just about cry. How did I forget? Jakey had originally wanted 100 cookies or cupcakes (homemade) and before I started working I would have made them for him, now I just don't have the time.

Well, I have to be at work in less than 2 hours and I need clean up the house because my mom is coming over here to babysit tonight to relieve our babysitter as it's her birthday and so I better pick up, or my mom will and I won't hear the end of it! LOL

I got a job!

After 6 years out of the workforce I got a job! I start today at 2:30 even! I'm a CNA at a local (not in SHAFTER!) skilled nursing facility. Yay! :)

I'd type more, but I have to get my uniform ready, finish up some stuff around the house, and run kids around before I go...tell y'all about my first day tomorrow!

Fave Photo Friday

I decided to do a fave photo this Friday!

Jacob at 2.5 years old telling our cat to "say cheese!" I don't think the cat was impressed, what do you think?

(No cats were harmed in the taking of this picture...it looks like choking, but in reality it was moving, and the cat continued to sit on his lap long after the picture was taken...LOL!)
