I have a totally funky new haircut! I went short hari several months ago and have liked it but this time I didlet my stylist do something on her own and I now have funky and short- and stylish.
I have a really short back and the bangs are long on the right and short on the left. I use quite a bit of product and softly lift and semi-soft spike the rest.
So so cute! I love it!
The best I can do is to say it looks like this! (I wish I was as lovely as Anne Hathaway, but I can have her hair if not her lips, cheek bones, thinness, and talent...) Ha!
"This is a bawdy tale. Herein you will find gratuitous shagging, spanking, maiming, treason, and heretofore unexplored heights of vulgarity and profanity, as well as non-traditional grammar, split infinitives, and the odd wank. If that sort of thing bothers you, then gentle reader pass by, for we only endeavor to entertain, not to offend. That said, if that’s the sort of thing you think you might enjoy, then you have happened onto the perfect story!" ~ Christopher Moore, Fool

Random Stuff on a Tuesday
Got my hair trimmed because it's grown so quickly. My stylist was just chatting away with me and she ran the clippers over the back of my hair and suddenly stopped and realized we 'didn't do that last time' but it was a little late for that now. My hair is REALLY short now. Yikes! More Gennifer Goodwyn short than Katie Holmes short.
And speaking of Katie Homes, does anyone else think "it's about damn time" that she divorces Tom Cruise and gets away from his mind control whako-ness?
And speaking of clippers, my household is in an uproar looking for Daddy-O's hair clippers. Mac uses them to give himself a haircut last week and Daddy-O helped him. Mac said Daddy-O took the clippers back and Daddy-O thought he gave the clippers to Mac. We've turned the house upsidedown looking for those suckers in all the obvious places and some not.
Does anyone else just LOVE Subway?
Is anyone else going to watch the new show on CBS this fall called Sherlock?
Does anyone else just love hotel sex?
I'd love to learn how to use Pinterest. Still can't figure that sucker out.
I've been thinking it would be cool if I could operate a Mac Book laptop.
Daddy-O and I went to a Kroger Market Place which is a cool twist on the super store idea but BETTER. It has furniture and home stuff. We found a "painting" on canvas in the lobby and after I finally found a clerk and made her scan it, we found it was $30. This thing usually retails for $80, and it's about 4x5 feet and totally cool. I grabbed it and had them hold it at the cusstomer service desk; hey, with that discount it HAD to be bought!!!!
It seems the new trend in the area I live is to now NOT find out the gender of the baby. I know all these pregnant women, or women who've very recently had babies, and no one is finding out the boy or girl answer. And just a few years ago, everyone was finding out the gender as soon as it was possible. Interesting. I don't care either way, but I think trends are interesting.
I want to have a Bernese Mountain Dog instead of a baby. Naming it will be just as fun!
I don't care what anyone says; Charlie Sheen is just hot and still sexy.
Today was a super busy day at work. Since we have tomorrow until Monday off for the 4th holiday, and then I'm going to be at a conference from Monday thru Thursday and then we have our July Recess until the last day of July, I won't be back at school for a MONTH! Go me! however, this does mean I had about a million things to do today. I made a to-do list and crossed off every single item! And for the first time EVER, I have to say that every single library book was returned!!!!!!!! I didn't have to go to the kids' res halls or do locker searches. Kids brought them back. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This weather sucks and I hate it. The heat is killing me. And it's only early July; it's going to be a very long, hot, miserable summer.
My phone is telling me I have very little storage data left. I thought I'd delete stuff and there's all this Sprint shit I can't get rid of but I never use it like the football and NASCAR app. Nor do I Facebook and I can't delete it either. It's taking up valuable space and it just pisses me off that because it's part of the "phone company's promo" stuff, I can't remove them.

Diet Week 6
No I still haven't stepped on the scale. I just don't want to know. I do know this... I am losing weight. The new pants I bought 6 weeks ago are fitting much much looser, even baggy in some spots. The dress I bought the same day is a little big and I don't need to even wear Spanx with it. My face looks thinner. My bras are too big. My waist is VISIBLY thinner. I've always had a thin waist and it is smaller- lots. I just don't want to see what the scale says. I feel like I lost more than what I have, I think.
Yesterday I put on a pair of pants that zip and snap and also have a draw string. I didn't have to unzip nor unsnap them to get them on and off AND I couldn't cinch the drawstring tight enough to keep them on. The crotch was almost to my knees. These are HUGE! I'm keeping these pants forever. I never want to be that size again. When I think I might cheat or go off my diet, I'm going to put them on. These will be a symbol of me getting thin.
And in honor of the weight coming off, tomorrow I'm getting new glasses, and a hair cut and color. yeah... make over time. Like I told Daddy-O, a make over is cheaper than moving to a new locale- it's good change.
New look for me!

World's Best Haircut
I got the world's best hair cut this week.
I've struggled with my hair my entire life. I have a head of thick dark hair, with natural curl. It's very pretty but it has a mind of its own. I have a "cowlick" in two spots but when my hair is long, it's not noticeable but it sure makes those two spots style as it sees fit, not always what I want it to do.
I'm also hair lazy. I hate taking time to actually style my hair. I love it long when I can whip it into a pony tail and go, or blow is dry and go.
Since I had it all hacked off in December of 2008- when I went from hair all one length down to the center of my back to a a short Pixie- a'la- Audrey Hepburn cut, I've been trying to grow it long again. And it's been a disaster.
In June of 2009 I had the haircut from hell, which left me wearing hats and bandannas for 6-8 weeks (it was to the point where people actually thought I had cancer and had lost my hair through chemo, I wore so many scarves and hats! Yikes!). After that, I've basically just hunted for someone to give me a decent trim. I've been on such edge about my hair and freak out every time I sit in a stylist chair.
Around Christmas I went to a salon and got an "okay" haircut. I think, at the time, I thought it was really good because I looked terrible and she cleaned it all up. I think at that point, anyone bearing a weed whacker could've made my look good because I was SOOOO shaggy. (I made the Beatle's '64 moptop do's look like a high and tight!). I went back to her again and was satisfied.
Then a few months ago I went to Angie and she asked if we were still doing the same. I said yes and then she proceeded to tell me about her divorce settlement and the new house she's building. At the end of my haircut, where I've been growing it out for years, and have just been having her TRIM it each time... she gave me layers. OH MY GODDESS!!!!!!!! LAYERS! That biotch gave me layers!
UGH!
I vowed I was never going back to Angie. (He excuse, by the way, is that she 'forgot' what we were doing and had me confused with someone else. Ummmmm, yeah.)
My sister-in-law always gets a cut a haircut from her cousin. I always think this cousin has super beautiful hair cuts herself. I'd thought of going to CousinCutter myself but I was afraid if I got a bad cut it would be bad blood at family events, or at least just awkward. This time, I said screw it and went.
I have the best haircut I've had since December 2006.
It's amazing and the style is PERFECT!!!! I love it! It's a "long-ish short" blob. I had these shaggy layers and bangs past my nose and a long clump/ glob of hair on the back of my neck and various layers in the sides and she gave me this sleek, vintage but stylish, 1920s sleek bob.
I LOVE it!!!!
When I got home Mac went on and on about how awesome it was. He said I looked like the badass Russian chick who kicks ass in all the badass, asskicking Russian movies.
Then he found a picture on the 'net and said my hair is amazing and looks just like this:
He's not saying I look like her in the face or body (though I really WISH!) but that my hair is identical to this. and you know what? He's right. I have C. Zeta-Jones's exact haircut from Chicago. I do. It's very chic.
I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!! Best hair cut- EVER! I love this woman who cut it- she's amazing. And she's all mine!!!!!!
She with a happy head,
Maggie

Random Monday musings
I have really big hair because of the humidity. I have no idea how to control it.
I agreed in a moment of weakness to watch The Hangover I with Mac tonight. Ugh!
I found out today that I'll get a raise of my summer school teaching pay- a dollar more an hour than last year, so I think I'll make about $14/ hour for teaching! (Hey Sam, I might just come down and see you after all!!!!!) I also agreed to teach an extra course so EXTRA money!!!!!!
OMG- Weight Watchers starts tomorrow.
OMG- Lilith and I are having a scrapbook night again tomorrow... this is a GOOD OMG. Not only are we scrapbooking together, we're seeing each other twice in 2 weeks. A new record!!! Pictures will be forthcoming.
Mac was helping move a piece of furniture of mine the other day. He said, "hey mom. The paint on this thing is all cracked and peeling and looks like shit. Why are we moving it? Can't we just throw it away?" I said, "It's supposed to look like that. It's called 'rustic'!" He said, "Oh so it's a cracked and peeling rustic looking piece of shit" and he hauled it to the garage, giggling to himself!
I love Fiji water. I would like to say it's because of the taste of the water, but in reality, if I'm completely honest, it's because of the square bottle.
ITSam and I had a fight so he wouldn't give me Netflix at work. Yeah, I know. So I revamped my entire lesson plans since my Classic Film History class started today. I was actually thrilled to be back at work and I have a really small class of all girls who LIKE to have discussion so it was a good day. We started talking about a classic movie is. Since it was the first day and I didn't want to scare them off, I showed part of Titanic and gave them the challenge to decide if it was a classic or not.
And that's all there is............

Random Tuesday musings
Just because I love Johnny Depp doesn't mean I want to sit through Rango.
I'm almost 40 and I have zits on my forehead. A complete "you've got to be kidding" moment.
I wish I could wear a pencil skirt.
Gwyneth Paltrow is amazing, and I enjoy her in everything, including Glee!
I downloaded the Boggle app on my phone and I'm becoming addicted. I was thinking that tomorrow's lunch at school is disgusting so I was going to just sit in my library and play Boggle. I might need therapy.
There's a barber shop where the stylists dress like a Hooter's waitress to cut hair. The walls are covered in huge flat screen tvs that play sports over and over. The haircuts are about $30. You've got to be kidding- again.
Alcatraz is going to an all year round school schedule the next school year. So much for summers off- which I think is a GOOD thing. I'll let you know the details as they are forthcoming.

#2: Get High-lights in my hair
I have high-lights in my hair.
Here's the deal. I'm not yet 40 and I have white hair. I have quite a bit of white hair, as a matter of fact. If I didn't color said hair, I would have a perfectly shaped, white, skunk stripe over my right eye and down over my right ear. Just a stripe. I also have some miscellaneous white hairs at my temple and... well, everywhere else.
I do color my hair. Typically I color it the natural color of my hair, a nice brown with some red in it. Now, the question has always been, how do I color it brown and red? Well, the obvious answer is to get some highlights of red after coloring it brown. This costs about $50-85 at a salon, which is prohibitive to my personal pocketbook. So for years, since the white monsters have reared their ugly heads, I've had to choose. I usually color my hair sort of an auburn-ish color which is pretty close to my natural.
I've had some coloring incidents in life. Once my hair turned pink, when I lived in the Wild West. The color solution with the chemicals in the water there were not a good combination so I was pink about about 14 days. Once time I picked a color that was more... magenta than auburn and that was weird. Once I went "too brown" and it wasn't a good look. I also went too red and after a few weeks it was sort of orange-y looking. But most of the time, it looks like normal hair, but just not my natural brown with auburn highlights.
Until a few weeks ago. I found a store kit that was an all-over color and then highlights. COOL! So, one day Princess and I dyed our hair. She went back to her natural chocolate brown (from a weird dirty blondish red she attempted) and I colored mine medium/ light brown. And she placed the high-lights.
I was worried because I've seen people get highlights from the salon, and at home, where they look like they have stripes in the hair, zebra-esque, you might say. I didn't want that to happen to me. I kept telling Princess to not zebra me. She said she wouldn't and to not worry. Famous last words from the kid who tried to go blond and her hair is almost black naturally!
I have to say it turned out beautifully! I love it. It's lovely! No stripes, just natural looking color. It's been funny because, since we did it, people look at me and say I look different but no one can actually seem to put their fingers on what's different about me. That means she did a good job- it should look normal and natural. She's awesome! (and we didn't highlight her hair; we just colored it and it's stunning!)
We also read the directions and when it's touch up time, I don't have to do a whole all over kit; we can do some highlights! I am so excited by this. I know I'll have to "all over" color again, of course, but in the mean time, I can squeak an extra couple weeks with a highlight treatment.
So, I can cross "highlight my hair" off the 40 before 40 list!
And, while this has nothing to do with the coloring, I got a "straightener" for Christmas. A hair straightener, that is. My hair is curly and after a blow dryer it's often... fluffy. So now I straighten it and with the color-- well, I look like a whole new person! Like a before and after make over that went well. And more people notice I straighten my hair than the highlights. Now how weird is that?
What I do wonder, though, is what color is my hair now, really? Other than all the white ones, I wonder if my hair is still really that brownish red or if it's getting darker as I get older. Other than the white ones, of course. I don't want to find out, though. I'll live with it the way I remember it before the white infiltrated!

You know it's time to shave when...
Mac can grow a beard. I don't mean a little chin stubble but a BEARD. He has a 5 o'clock shadow by 10am. I'm not kidding. And it's not just a little chin hair but it comes in all over his face. He could give Grizzly Adams a run for his money.
Mac does get a little lazy and hates to shave so he won't. He might trim it up a little or he might just let it be unruly. But he does have some serious facial hair. I don't know how many times waiters and waitresses have offered him "something from the bar" without ID-ing him when we've been out to eat. The beard does add some age to him.
Now that being said, he and I were at dinner the other night. We decided to do a late night IHOP run. We do this ever so often; just go eat a super late dinner or a super early breakfast at 2 am. He and I were sitting and chatting, laughing and having a good time. We chatted with our waiter and made fun of other people in the restaurant.
The waiter asked us if we wanted coffee or pie, and Mac said, "Can I, mom?" And the waiter asked, "He's your son?!?" I said "yeah...?" And the waiter said, "I thought he was your date, or something."
When we got home, at 3 am, Mac shaved.

The Monday Exhaustions
I have no idea why I am so tired every. single. Monday. I come home from work and can barely keep my eyes open. I might even grab a cat nap but I still can't manage to think straight and want to be in bed by 7:30 pm. What is this? I've been suffering from this ever since I started teaching in the Wild West, even in the summer time, I have the Monday Tireds.
I slept okay last night. It took awhile for me to fall asleep but once I did I wasn't waking up in the night. I slept right until my alarm clock went off. Today wasn't stressful at work; we watched a movie in each class. Big whoot- I just had to make just the kids didn't sleep and that I didn't fall asleep.
After school I had to take mac to the doctor and then we went on a mini road trip (after running errands) and went to the mall and got McDonalds and stuff. I even participated in some stimulating conversations but the whole time I could barely keep my eyes open.
And here I sit thinking I need to blog but I want to sleep... so here's some randomness:

And here I sit thinking I need to blog but I want to sleep... so here's some randomness:
- Can I wear wigs? Lady Gaga does it so why can't I just wear it right into the public sector? I could have lots of fun with it. And since I hate my hair it would be cool for me. And I could change my color and style with my mood.
- I think it is one of the coolest thing ever that the new Rock Band 3 is going to come out with a REAL guitar with its game. That's awesome. It'll have strings rather than buttons. I am psyched about it. I secretly have a fetish for the Rock Band games (though I guess as of this post it's no longer a secret). I like to sing and play the guitar, though I'm not talented enough to do both.
- Today was humorous and stressful because I had to explain the concept and purpose of a suppository use to Mac. He is not impressed.
- Big Bang Theory is the best show on television and I love to watch even the re-runs.
- I go with Mac to the Game Stop store and the guys there flirt with me. They are often guys who are my age, but are gamers. It's like talking to a grown up version of a teenage boy. Talking to Mac is more mentally stimulating. And they think they're so "cool." If they were like the guys on the aforementioned Big Bang Theory, then I would be much more impressed.
- I bought Gerber Daisies this weekend and planted them. Yes, I am attempting to nurture a living thing in plant form. Wish me luck. They're yellow, orange and bright pink (of course!)
- Waiting for the toilet tank to refill is like waiting for a pot of water to boil. I'm just sayin'...
- Mac is trying to find a job- still- and everywhere he goes he's told they only hire 18 years old (or older) people. Makes it tough on a kid to find a job.
- A tree fell down over the weekend. It was in the neighbor's yard. It didn't hurt anything but it did cover the street and the street department had to come out and chop it up enough and move it to the tree lawn so cars could pass. I think it's the first time I ever saw 1 street guy working and doing his job WITHOUT 4 or 7 or 9 other standing around, watching.
- I bought more books. And... oh hell, this is a long enough thought that I'll save it for a post. But saving bought books is like only using the good china on a holiday. More on that later!

"Flow it, Show it! Long as I can grow it my HAIR!"~ Hair
If hair hating were an Olympic sport I would win gold medal. I am STILL hating my hair, after the most recent BAD cut that I got a few weeks ago!
Right now, the top layer (can't believe I layers, that stupid haircutting witch) is curling.... outward. Some of the time. Then the other times it's curling--- any damn direction is wants to curl. I hate it. I'm still wearing head scarves and headbands.
Daddy-O HATES the hairbands. Like I care but of course that's in the back of my head every time I put one on.
I put product in and try to use the blow dryer and sometimes it works and other times, not so much. And when it doesn't work, I have three choices: 1) deal with it the way it is; 2) wet it down and start all over again; or 3) place a paper bag on my head.
Today was a really baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad hair day, can you tell? I had it flipping out on one side of the top layers, and the bottom side of the other side of my head was flipping out. I had a flat section in the front and my sideburns area (where I don't really have any sideburns) were... smushed. NOTHING helped the hair today- the only option was either #3 or go to school looking stupid. Since a paper bag would be considered "distracting to the classroom learning process" according to the handbook, I went with looking stupid.
I hate my hair right now. Really really hate it. I mean I hate my hair so much that if hate were people I'd be China.

XRayGirl: Goddess of hair and manual transmission driving lessons
XRayGirl is a miracle worker on so many levels! First my hair...
I am now no longer officially afraid to leave the house for fear of scaring the elderly and children. She took me to her stylist who cleaned the mess up. She said NO WAY to getting a perm because then I would have nasty, ugly, tight, poodle like curls. She trimmed and snipped and well... frankly, I have no idea what she did but she had to trim a little bit and I suddenly was all fixed- AND I look like I have more hair. I have no idea about that trick of the eye but XRayGirl and I couldn't figure it out but we both agreed that I just seemed to have more hair.
She also snipped enough that I have a head full of natural curls and the stylist gave me some tips to use them. She also said, and I quote, "Now that you have a good base cut, don't get it cut anywhere else but me. I know you want to grow it out. Pigtails by the end of the summer." O-KAY! And while I'm a little old for pigtails, the fact it will be long enough to do that by the end of the summer makes me want to dance!
To top it all off, she fixed the straight cut bangs. Instead of taking any more length off, she textured them, and now they look wispy rather than heavy and blunt. The unibrow bangs are gone!
The stylist also said hair grows quicker in the summer than winter and if I want to help it along, I could take pre-natal vitamins or some vitamin called "hair, nails, something" taken three times a day. Sounds like a plan.
My hair is much better! No more mullet! No more Betty Page bangs! No more "lesbian chic"! No more winning the Joan Jett Look Alike contest! And I have a head full of curls. Interesting look. Not one I'm used too, not bad, but much better than where I started out my Thursday!
And as for me learning to drive a stick shift... Well, first and foremost, XRayGirl is an excellent teacher and she's one of the most patient people I've ever met. She gave good instructions and different suggestions. But I think I might have to admit that driving a manual transmission and doing math are not my strong suites.
Also, I learned that there's lots of swearing and laughter involved in learning to drive a stick shift. No matter how many times I killed it or made the gears grind, she never yelled or made me feel embarrassed; we just howled with laughter!
I popped the clutch. I had trouble finding first- it had to be there somewhere. I wasn't sure how to drive with two feet. I was pretty excited when I finally got the car to start and keep going without killing it. And once I could get going, I had no trouble going from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th and 5th! I'm still a little confused on when to clutch and brake verses just clutching or just braking.
There was one incident where I was at a four way stop on a slight incline. I kept rolling backwards and for some reason I would make a funny face which gave us laughing convulsions. At another stop sign, I killed it about 8 times. 8 TIMES!!!! Before I figured out I was accidentally in third. In my defense it was right next to 1st! We never even went into reverse- that's for another lesson.
I guess when I concentrate the tip of my tongue sticks out the corner of my mouth, which add to the laughter.
So I had an hour lesson and we're going to try again over the weekend. She's brave. Maybe I'll never drive a sports car. Maybe I should stick to automatics or take a bus if no automatics are to be found. I could always walk. Or find a hot guy to drive me everywhere I want to go...

Doing Nothing on a Wednesday & the adventure up my sleeve for today
Yesterday was one of the best days of my spring break......... I did nothing. I didn't even take a shower or take off my jammies. I laid on the couch most of the day and watched movies, read a book, and napped.
Now it was raining, dark and thundering and lightening, so I watched the storm. Oh I could think of only two things better: 1) having a lie-in with a wonderful man doing the same things but adding sex to the list, or 2) spending the day shoe shopping. Since there's no man there was no sex. Since there's no money, there was no shoe shopping. So I did my third favorite thing to do on a warm stormy day- nothing.
My stack of rented movies was high so I just watched those (Secret Window, Ned Kelly, The Jane Austen Book Club, The Soloist, Mystery Alaska) all day long.
Mac was in the house, in his room, playing video games, Facebooking, and texting. He'd pop down to see what I was doing, say hey, talk for a minute, grab food, and disappear back upstairs. He and I made homemade pizza. We'd never done that together before and we had all the stuff to do it. And we actually did it together. He was like a little kid with Legos, building his pizza. We ended up with three layers of pepperoni and three layers of cheese on this sucker. So now I know when he goes to college he'll be able to make home made pizza, hot dogs, and scrambled eggs.
Oh, I talked on the phone to Curley, to XRayGirl and... a fella I know. I also had a screaming match with the Sperm Donor- well, he was screaming and I was calm and relaxed, which freaks him out even more- the arsehat fucktard. I also played on the Internet. I did a touch of laundry. Talk about the best day...! (Even with laundry and the asshat!)
Oh, and one more thing! I ate chocolate, lots of chocolate! Goddess bless the after Easter candy sales!
I seriously love doing nothing. I like working, sometimes, for the most part, and yes, I do like doing crafts and hobbies, but sometimes doing nothing is perfect. a seriously huge case of doing nothing.
Now I am leaving the house today. First, XRayGirl said she is going to take my hair issue into her own hands. She made an appointment for me with her stylist and, I'm here to tell you, that girl had BEAUTIFUL hair. Stunning! Her stylist has very short hair so XRayGirl thinks her stylist can help me- she can either fix it or give me ways to work with the mess. (But from what XRayGirl repeated her stylist said she's probably gonna have to cut it all off and let me start all over again with a frickin' pixie cut, one more time... Karma/ Dogma hair)
Okay, back to me leaving the house. XRayGirl and I are going with her Granny to an Amish bakery and cheese shoppe. Then I'm going to my hair appointment, and XRayGirl is going with me for moral support. After that--- we're going to *gulp* go driving. She's going to teach me to drive a stick shift. I have no idea how to drive a manual transmission and she's decided to teach me. It would be a good thing for me to learn, right? If nothing else, it'll be good blog fodder. After that might involve booze for both of us- we may need it.
I'll let you know how it all turns out, from the hair to the driving. Maybe we should drive first because then if she pulls my hair out, I won't be bald?
Happy Thursday!

Bed head all the time...
How fucking hard is it to give a haircut if that's what you were trained to do and have been doing for the last 10 years?
I am so fucking pissed off at the world over this. I had a shaggy bob. You know when you have short hair and you're trying to grow it out? Well I've been trying to grow it out and every single time I go for a TRIM I end up with is all hacked off to bits. It's not because I get to the stylist and change my mind, but because, for some reason, they can't follow directions. I wanted 1/2 inch off and I gave specific directions, of which I will spare you the details, of what my bangs were to supposed to look like. I didn't get anything even remotely close to what I asked for.
I've gone to several stylists and I keep getting shorn. I've been trying to grow my hair out for a year now and I shit you not, it's back to being as short as it was a year ago on the sides and top BUT she kept the length in the back so I have a god damned mullet.
I'm so mad. I look like shit. It's terrible and I hate it. It know it's hair and it will grow back but I've been saying that for a year now. And I'm tired of saying it. I actually looked in the mirror tonight and just sobbed. It's awful. It's short and mullet-y and butch-y and ugly. I hate hate HATE it.
I've made some phone calls and showed some other stylists and I've been given 2 schools of thought on what to do with it. The most popular one is to get a very light body perm on the rollers that are the biggest ones. Apparently this will make me LOOK like I have some body rather than the stick straight-ness and will make it look longer, or bigger or fuller or something. Or just have the back cut short again, to rid the mullet look, and start ALL over again. I fear the perm will equal poodle. And to cut it all off means starting ALL over again.
Can giving a good haircut and listening to the customer be so hard?!?
And the girl who cut it works at the same salon as the woman who did it last time. And here's the funny thing. I went in and said to the NEW STYLIST that the woman whose cut my hair the last 3 times about scalps me and I'm trying to grow it out and I don't understand what part of leave it long she didn't get. I went on and on and gave very specific instructions. Oh, NEW STYLIST said she always leaves client's hair a little on the LONG side because it's easier to take off than put on... blah fucking blah blah blah. And then she whacks it worse than it's been all along.
There's an adorable man that I'm interested in. I'm hoping to see him this summer and I had visions of my hair long enough to pull back- because I think I look prettier, younger, more attractive. BUT no, I won't be close to that. He's seen pictures of me with short and long hair. He says I'm beautiful. BUT I feel MORE pretty (I NEVER feel beautiful!) or at least attractive with long hair and it's just terrible now.
The kids at school are going to eat me alive because of this. They are teens and they aren't always nice and I'm gonna have to suck it up or let them crucify me. And the bad hair has happened so many times I can't even touch my own head without crying over it, let alone act like the kids mean comments don't hurt.
I can't wear bandannas to school for the next month like I did ALL last summer post bad hair cut when I worked ice cream. Our school has a 'policy' so at some point I have to expose my head to the world. I have a few wigs but I don't think I can wear those either- a distraction in the classroom. Guess it doesn't help that the wigs are pink and green and red, rather than a natural hair color.
I'm leaning toward the damn curls. At least there will be some body in it and it won't make me look like a female bubba. Or, as Mac said, "lesbian chic" when he saw the new haircut and asked me "what happened to your head?" Or an extra in the movie the Runaways- I make Joan Jett look like a good hair day, this is so bad.
My hair has usually been my crowning glory. I don't think I'm pretty but I usually have great hair and now... I've not nothing. I just cry and cry over it. I HATE it. I look fucking ridiculous.

What's red and black and striped all over?
Children do things to drive us parents crazy- on purpose.
Mac has been a rather congenial child overall, but since the middle of age 15, he has decided it's quite fun to play "Let me think of ways to irritate my mother." There are various rules to this game, I am slowly figuring out.
Sometimes he plays the Devil's advocate in an argument just to watch my head explode, especially if it has to do with politics or being politically correct. Sometimes he'll say or do something so outrageous, just too see what I'll do. And of course I try and "communicate" or just lose my mind or lecture him before I realized what the little shit is doing.
Overall, he's a smart kid and he just likes to jerk people's chains a bit to see what sort of reaction he can elicit. He also does this with teachers, the sperm donor and other kids. Sometimes there is a negative fallout and he'll admit he went too far- very Ferris Bueller of him- and sometimes it all comes out in the wash.
Which brings me to the point of this post. While Mac is a usually a smart kid, he wanted to prove a point to the other kids at school that being Emo does not make you an individual, it makes you just another follower. He dyed his hair black, which is an Emo trait, but then didn't do or say anything that was remotely Emo. He explained all this to me in his long drawn out teenage boy way filled with sarcasm, smarminess and other teenageisms. All I know is that I think his hair looked ridiculous when he dyed it black because he has this gorgeous natural colour of a honey/ strawberry blond combo. The first round of black shit went into his hair a few months ago and I have been agonized over it ever since then, but I learned to JUST LET IT GO!
Then he started talking about wanting red hair and it was another sort of fad. And something about the "red headed step child" slang statement since he hates his Stepmonster (aka his Stepmother) and she calls him... And his natural color was starting show show in his roots for about 4 inches- and the black is way to dark to dye over without paying $100 at the salon to strip it out. But he was talking on and on and on and on about dying his hair red, I made the same argument and then ignored him and just let him ramble and my thoughts drift. I think I missed something vital when I tuned him out. Because the next time I saw him he looked like this:
