A couple of outgoing Flip Books....I make sure to enclose them in a cello bag so that they will not get damaged along the postal route.

I absolutely adore Yapping Cat Studios!  Cindy is an artist , using acrylics and water colors.  Her work is amazing, and I am  an undying fan!  She recently posted this tiny acrylic book on her instagram feed:  yappingcatstudio. (you won't regret following her for a daily does of inspiration!) I wanted it so badly...and you know....she actually sent it to me!  Pinch me!  Anyway, she of course wrapped it in a beautiful way and I just adore it.  I have placed it on the top of my desk for inspiration!  Thank you again, Cindy!

I can't help myself!!!  When sales happen, I just can't resist!  Look at these beauties!  I can't wait to start putting these to use!  Washi tape just adds that certain little touch to any envelope  or plain piece of paper.  So if you are in a hurry and don't have time to make a flip book, or anything else.  Get your Washi tape stash out and put it to good use!

Is There A Washi Tape Addiction Hotline?

                                          5 Signs of a Washi Tape Addiction (OK, make it 6)

Now, of course, I am not referring to myself.  No, never.  But just in case there are those of you who may struggle this area, let us check if we can at least see the warning signs.

1.  You find yourself surfing online Etsy late at night, half awake, half comatosed , for pink flamingo washi tape.

2.  It isn't a coincidence that  your budget doesn't include washi tape...must mean "the sky's the limit".

 3.  You buy multiple rolls of the same tape because, you know...you'll run out and they will NEVER  have that same design.

4.  You're doing a teal planner layout and you must have 15 teal washi tapes to make it presentable.

5.  You need to find hiding places to store your stockpile of washi tape , because you are afraid your husband will see it and wonder why you have so much of it.

6.  But , "I don't have any ice cream washi tape!"

 Any of you who may have ordered from my Etsy Store will know that I love mailing out my orders with lots and lots of cheerful washi tape and stickers.  I feel like everyone should get some Happy Mail now and then, so I try to make it special.  And I am really thankful for all of the great sellers on Etsy that make that happen. Snail Mail in the NEXT GENERATION!

We can teach them...

And they can teach us a thing or two!

I have received some mail lately from some of my campers that were in my cabin.  I love to post what they have been up to in their very crafty styles.    Here is an envelope crafted by Ella, and I love that she used her wax seal that she got for her birthday!

And just like a seasoned snail mailer, she included a nice chatty letter and some goodies.

This letter is from Miss Grace!  She made a lovely watercolor impressionistic  sunset...I love this!

Grace attended my paper crafting class at camp, She included a craft that I taught this summer..."Flying Letters".  I need to do a blog post on these...they are adorable!

Here it is , gently unfolded.  But look!  She included a mini envelope  (which she made) inside the  one of the folds.  Nice touch, very nice--Grace!

So cute... a little letter is enclosed.  

I am so impressed at the creativity of young people today.  I have letters going out to Ella and Grace.  I am so sorry it took me so long to get back to writing  to everyone.  Thanks for your patience!

More Outgoing Snail Mail!

How is everyone doing with their summer schedules?  I hope it includes some crafty snailmail! Here is a few that I sent out recently.  My schedule changes so much in the summer from my school year schedule that I sometimes think I'm not nearly productive as the fall, winter and spring.  Ha, ha.  Routine is good!  But, I'm going to try to  turn that around for this summer.  What about you?

Frugal Finds...Fabric Washi Tape!

Dollar Tree finds...

Have you seen these lovelies?  They are fabric decorative tape.  I found these at the Dollar Tree among their washi tape display.

Have you ever used the fabric tape?  I have not used these yet and could use a few tips.  Does it work just like  washi tape?  Can you move it about, or is it more unforgiving?  .  If you have used these before , could you please leave me a comment on how to best use?

Letter Writing On The Go!

When you have a 3 hour wait...Put it to good use!

My son had a 3 hour drama practice  recently, so I grabbed my Mobile Letter Writing Kit and headed out the door...there were letters to be written!

I had thought of going to the local library to wait out the practice, but they weren't open at the time I was in the town...so I headed to the local McDonald's.  They were very accommodating.  I ordered my large caramel , mocha latte, and set to work.  I sort of spread out a bit...

I decorated pages as I went and wrote my little heart out.  These letters were needing a reply...

And Letter # 2.  So thankful for my "on the go" letter writing kit!  I have a 4 hour practice to get through tomorrow.  You know what I will be doing!

Tri-Fold follies...

A Closer Look At Tri-Fold Mail

Here's something that is "hot" on Instagram.  These are Tri-Fold letters made out of card stock.  Most of the ones I have seen are rather large, but I found IG" flatteryeverywhere" post a more size-friendly tri-fold.  It utilizes a 12X12 inch scrap book cardstock cut in half, then folded into 3 equal sections.  Now, my example below is quite, well, off.  The cuttings are not even and looks rather bad if you are a perfectionist...and I am plainly not a perfectionist...but it still bothers me.  But, here it is, in all of it's imperfections.

This is what you see when you pull back the front cover.a crooked pocket (oh well.) I sure you can do better!  I will place my letter in this pocket.

Here the trifold is fully opened.  You could place a tea bag, or tags (pictured in the right pocket) or any other ephemera you can find. Nice for sweet little surprises.  The pockets I made were too small for journal cards, but you could maybe put some ATC sized cards with your own quotes...I love affirming words, don't you?  

When it is folded up, it is an A5 size, so will fit nicely in an A5 size envelope.  I have plenty of those...or I could even make one out of coordinating scrapbooking paper.  Hmmm...I think I will  just do that!

The Pink Crush Overload Continues!

Washi Love...and Pink Crush!

Ummm....yes.  I like Pink!  What do you have in your Washi Tape stash that is pink?  These are some of my favorites.  I  just love using washi tape on my envelopes and even on my stationery.

Here are some hot pink lunch bags that I picked up last year I believe.  These are perfect for letters or tea swaps.  They are rather large, which is nice because they still pass as "letter" size for international mailings.  Yay!

And don't forget the "B" side!  I have several "Love" stamps for wax seals.   Thankfully I still have some pink wax....will have to order some more soon! 

Here is a close up of this cutie.  It is a nice finishing touch to your mail.

Mail that will Fly!! Origami Tuck-ins!

DIY:  Origami Mail...Mail that Flies!

I love Origami.  I have been doing the folds since I was 9 years old.  The papers are just so wonderful and feel...so papery!  (Did I just invent a word?)  And then  there are so  many styles , colors and sizes to choose from!  

This is not a tutorial on how to fold a crane, but you can google it and find  a host of videos instructing you on making one.  Make sure your crane can fly :-) .

           

I  love these.  Great for Auntie Mail...Mail that Flies...hmm, I'll find some other uses...

This will be your envelope.  

Get some card stock to make the header of your envelope.

I traced around another header , then cut  it out.

I wanted a colorful label  for my very colorful mail.

I enclosed a note... the letter continues inside...

I included one of my origami cancer ribbons, and of course a spot of tea!

I look forward to sending this through the USPS.  Why not send some mail that Flies...and lift some one's spirits up today?

Autumn Letter Writing Inspiration!

 Autumn has definitely arrived in Virginia, which means color, color ,color!  We were just in the Blue Ridge Mountains last Monday and my, oh my...there is just a color explosion going on there!  With crisp temperatures, clear blue skies...and a mug of apple cider by my side...my urge to sit down and pen some letters is overwhelming!  I am always looking to nature for inspiration , so here are a few of my finds.  And yes, tis the season for kraft paper products...so gather them up!

Look at these lovely colors...

 It was time to rummage through my stash to see what fall-ish items I could scrounge up!  Ah!  I found my gold fountain pen!  Just the color for the season.  Gold ribbons, tiny bows, sequins, organic paper, and fall themed journal cards...

 Don't forget to look into your yardage stash for pretties!

Then find some fall themed stickers...washi tape...

Take another look at nature...

And then  get to writing that letter(s).
