He Has a Protege!!

Yesterday was my movie day with the family. Abah has always been a fan of Indiana Jones. So, on Saturday, I purchased six tickets for the whole family (macam la ramai sangat) to watch Indi's latest adventure at Cineleisure Mutiara Damansara.

When we arrived, there were already long lines at the ticketing counters. It was only 10:30 am (yes, in the morning) at that time. The movie was at 11 am. I bought two family popcorn sets, and we were off to a great adventure.

It was like watching the old Indiana Jones in action when I was small. Exhilarating. During the movie, Mak mentioned to me that Abah could not be disturbed. Little that she knew that her daughter was also glued to the screen. Ha ha ha...

All in all, it was a great movie. And another great family outing. I enjoyed it tremendously.

B, the movie can be watched again and again. I don't mind watching it again with you... hehehe...

Teater Musikal: Topeng Topeng

Semalam Capal Perak bawak Jade pegi tengok teater. Masa dia ajak, Jade agak konfius sebab dia bukanlah peminat seni-seni macam nih. Tak caya, tanya dia, sebab nanti dia kata dia adalah seorang yang shallow. Ha ha ha... So, Jade pun rasa terharu sebab dia terfikir nak bawak Jade pegi. So, happy la kan.

Anyway, Topeng Topeng is a production by Stefani - Sanggar Teater Fauziah Nawi. Ia sedang dipentaskan di Stor Teater DBP. Tiket berharga RM10, RM20 dan RM30. Setiap hari pada 8:30 malam sehinggalah 30 April ini. Jadi, pergilah tengok dan support industri seni kita, okay! (Ini adalah free publicity from LooneyPuff)

For more information, please visit Topeng Topeng @ akulahrawana.blogspot.com.

Note to Capal Perak: Thank you. I had a lovely night. :-p

I Dated Myself Last Night

You read the title correctly the first time. I went on a date with myself last night. My initial engagement was postponed, so since I was already pimping myself, I decided to go ahead and date myself. He he he...

I went to Bakerzin to have a plate of nice pasta. It's beef and turkey in pink sauce. Very mouthful and delicious. Just look at the slices of meat and the al dente penne. Lovely and yummy.

I also ordered the Vienna Cafe which I also considered as the dessert for the night. Just look at the creamy whipped cream and lovely layers of brown and chocolate. It was sinful, take my word.

You know, sometimes, it feels really nice to dress up and put on some make up. Reason being, people tend to smile at you more and treat you nicely. I kid you not. It's also good for ego boost. Whenever I feel down, I will choose something from my limited wardrobe that I rarely wear and spend more time to paint my face. The effect would simply elevate my endorphine level.

Owhh.. after the pasta dinner, I went for grocery shopping. He he he... Surely I was a little over-dressed for doing some grocery. And people would think that I was just making appearence since I only bought a box of cereal and some eggs. But really, those were the only thing I was really looking for. I wanted to buy bread, but the expiry date was in two days time, so it hardly worth it. I wasn't planning to cook anything, so I need not buy any poultry or seafood. So.

Anyway, I had a great night. When I came back home, Witchblade was about to start. So I quickly changed into my baju tido, washed my face, and proceed with my nightly routine in front of the TV.

He is sitting for his exam this morning. Wishing him the best of lucks! And B, you've done what you can, you've work hard for it and if it's meant to be, you'll get it, ok?

My Pink Furry Friend

Meet my new travel buddy, Ticky. According to her, she's ticklish and if I tickle her chin long enough, I'll get a big grin on her furry self. And she said I'll be happy when I see it. Well, she said something like that to me yesterday. I'll check again with her later to verify this.

Ticky is soft to the touch and she constantly reminding me to be alert on the road as well as patient. She asks me to tolerate all the road idiots that too many a times managed to boil my red juices in my veins. Sometimes I'm a little geram with her because she's just getting to know me but she said arrogantly that a person is always measured by first impression. I told her not judge me and I used to be really nice on the road, experiences made me bitter. To which she said I should be more in control of my emotions, otherwise I will be bitter for the rest of my ife. How indignant, I thought and I left her to her own devices. Ignored her all the way back home. And instead of letting her sit at A-pillar, I moved her to the passenger's seat. Serves her right for being so judgemental.

But later I thought, she was right. That is after I
cooled down and felt her staring at me with those shady eyes of hers. Duh. So I told Ticky I'm sorry and now we are on speaking terms again. I also told her that I'll do better and be better today. And I could swear she winked!

Last night I met up with AngelEyes at SkyBar in Trader's Hotel. Nice view although the place is not prepared for a rainy windy day. Literally. 30 minutes into our chit-chat session, it started to rain. And it got windy and we were... drenched would be too dramatic... so.. "sprinkled" would be more suitable I guess. From the window seat, we moved to the tall table with tall stool. Not even 15 minutes, the wind picked up and we were sprinkled with water again! So we decided to leave the place and head to KLCC for dinner. Happy Birthday, babe!

Having said that, the place is a nice place to chit-chat. Very peaceful and serene. I wish there was music playing though. To photography addicts, professional or amatuer, it's a nice angle to take pictures of KL City. I took few pictures with my K550i yang hina. Wished I borrowed B's SLR that afternoon. Then I can post some nicer shots. But hey, can always do that another day, right?

I like this shot that I take though. Looked as if some ethereal light shone upon the twin towers. He he he...

So, tomorrow is new year! So, happy new year everyone! May the new year brings more joy and blessing for us. Take care until next post.

Saturday Outing

I'm in the midst of getting an upgrade. Courtesy of Capal Perak. Bak kata orang dolu-dolu, kecil tapak tangan, nyiru saya tadahkan. He said he wants me to feel beautiful. But I suspect it's his need to see his girl looking like the japanese models and artistes that he drools upon. Too bad I can't get any skinnier or fairer, eh? ROTFL. But don't tell him I say this, because he will be supremely insulted. :-p

I cannot keep still. It has been two hours and my legs are cramping. Duh. I am using his MacBook, blogging while waiting for the chemical to set. And I chased him out of the salon. Go la jalan-jalan I said. He went for about 10 minutes and came back saying there's nothing to see. We're in Hartamas Shopping Centre. Reason being, I'm running away from the weekend crowd. But seems like it does not do any favour to his lordship because there's nothing to amuse him.

Had to stop for a while just now to wash off. Saw his silhouette through the sheer curtain separating the washing area and sitting area. He left the salon to go out again. Kesian. I did warn him it's going to take hours. But he wants the adventure.

I'm bored. Seriously. More chemicals are being put on my hair. Mati la mak.

Tomorrow, there's a family gathering. BIG family gathering on my father's side. That means, all the aunties and uncles, the cousins and second cousins, nieces and nephews. All under one roof. This year it'll be in Setiawangsa. I'm thinking of cooking pasta to bring to tomorrow's potluck. Mak agrees because it's the fastest, easiest meal to do. Not to mention I make a very good bolognese sauce. Just throw everything into the pot.

I have the urge to.. urmm.. pee. Man... this is a torture. My hair is being steamed now. Ouch. Ouch. Auww... Can feel the hot air on the back of my neck. Should adjust my head a bit. Ouch. Okay, that should settle it, even if I look a bit short-necked. Ha ha ha.. Jade is getting cuckoo because she cannot go and relieve herself.

I wonder why the steamer looks different now. You know the hose to your vacuum cleaner? Hmm.... they attach that to the steamer machine and the steam is oozing out from it. I look like a cartoon character on Disney Channel. Steam is coming out from my head. All around my head, in fact. Ha ha ha.. ROTFL.

Hmm... come to think of it... it's minor facial too, since the steam sort of envelope my face as well.

He's back. He's so bored now he's plugging his iPod and reading. I am left on my own device. Muahahaha...

I shall update again later this evening...

On Saturday...

The plan was actually to go to Akuaria... But, wrong timing, wrong season altogether. We decided to go to the Popular Book Fair. I never had to pay going in to a book fair before, but this time we had to. RM2 per entry per day.

These are the books that managed to follow us home that day. Four of those are mine. Mine! Mine! The top book, that's definitely mine!! If I had heavy pockets this month, I would've bought more and more books! Alas...

Anyway, now, I have started a new routine. The breakfast book, the weekend book, and the anywhere, anytime books.

This was our tea break. As usual, ice cream never failed to make me happy. Coupled with coffee, hish! They definitely made my day!

The feast ended approximately 15 minutes after it was laid on the table. He he he... Yes, we're a couple of sweet tooth kids.

In the evening, I went to watch two movies. Waris Jari Hantu and Next. The former was not scary at all, although a little sad and touching. The ending, was not unexpected. I sorta figured it out much, much earlier. Most probably others had too. I'll give the movie three stars for effort and acting. The latter movie, was interesting, but the ending made me a bit dumbfounded. The storyline was a bit shaky. I do not mind a hanging ending but it was too abrupt. I thought they could do better. And for this one I shall give two stars.

Hey, I'm an amateur movie reviewer. My take on movies do not represent the masses, it's just what I feel. And if anyone else shares the same views, it says something about the movie, right? He he he...

The company's dinner is tonight. I still haven't had the faintest idea how to achieve the hair and makeup that I'm planning. But I know I will by the time I'm ready. Now... if only I could get someone to drive me to the hotel... Hmmm...

Pictures@PotLuck

We had satay, and look at the beautiful brownies!! Ooohhh... bottom left is my tomato salad...

KFC, doughnuts, whipped potato and some kuih muih

My Aglio Olio. Spicy prawn and chicken; although it was not as pedas as I wanted it to be. Maybe next time I should put cili api, eh..?

Kak Teh's birthday cake. Chocolate Indulgence. We definitely indulged ourselves too much!

The celebrity. Aper yang you tunjuk tu Kak Teh? And note that plates were empty...

The Happy Over-indulged People!

We definitely had fun that day. Food was ample and finger licking good (pun intended!). Company was excellence. Topics were hot and juicy. Ambiance was warm, cozy and inviting. There were positive vibes all around. Some had to go back to work after the makan-makan. Some went back to sleep. Some hoped they won't fall asleep while driving!

May we have more gatherings and happy times together. May we always enjoy each other and laugh together.

Luck in a Pot!

It was a lively potluck. Sowie... Pictures will be posted soon. My xD card is not compatible with the MMC card reader on the laptop. And I forgot to bring my USB cable. My MING USB cable is not compatiblw with Olympus. Heh! I knew I should've just taken the pictures with MING.

Kak Teh's birthday was celebrated again for the umpteen time. According to her that is. Let me just start from the beginning...

I started preparing the dish at around eleven in the morning. Contrary to the initial plan, Kak Mas could not come earlier; something about her Streamyx connection at home and waiting for the support people to come... So, I started without her. Halfway through I realised the chicken that I prep for the pasta will not be enough. So, I cooked half of the pasta with chicken.

I then smsed Kak Mas to get some prawns on her way over to my place. When she arrived pot and prawns, looking a bit harassed as a result from the failed attempt by the Streamyx support team, I quickly get to preparing the second half of the pasta with prawns. The garlic for the pasta was a little overdone; hanguih la...

The kitchen was a mess! And I couldn't just leave it like that, so I cleaned up and mopped the floor, wiped the stove and wash all the utensils. I took about half an hour to prep yours truly to a presentable state of being. We arrived in Bangi around 2:30pm. A call made confirmed that we were not as late as we thought.

Section 3 in Bangi, is really a huge maze. We made a lot of turns before we finally arrived to where Kak Teh was hiding. Seriously, if you need to run away from anyone, try secluding yourself in Section 3. Or maybe, I have just left Bangi for so long (can't remember when was the last time I was in the vicinity before today).

30 minutes settling in we were chatting and laughing, tremendously enjoying each others' presence. The meetup was initiated by Kak Aisah from Rantauan. I became involved through Kak Mas. Amongst the attendees were a couple who recently got married (one year), who met in Rantauan itself. Lovely, isn't it?

There were ample food. Besides the mediocre aglio olio pasta attempt by yours truly, here were KFC, Dunkin' Doughnuts, my all time favourite satay, some kuih muih, and sets of beautiful brownies. Not to forget the birthday cake from Secret Recipe. Chocolate Indulgence. By 5:30pm, everyone could not move, I was doing my best to regulate my breathing, trying to get more oxygen in, the other were torn between over-feeding and sleepiness.

The couch was very comfortable, the air was cool, a great recipe for napping. As everyone doing their best to fight the lethargy, we exchanged news and stories about absolutely everything. From the weather to celebrities, from politicians to bloggers.

As usual, no meetup is ever complete without group photos. As we said our goodbyes, trying hard not to sound so sad, we hugged each other, promising that we will meet again. Maybe the next one will be in London, when we can fly there for only 99 sen via Air Asia...

Kak Teh is a vibrant lady. At her age, advanced in numbers, but never in spirits, what more in her looks, I really, absolutely admire her. She said she never had any real holidays, being in the field she is in. Even coming back to KL for a so-called short break, she traveled down South, and scurrying here and there for events and what nots. Including hot self-intro to a certain Teuku who claimed women bloggers are slackers and liars. Woohooo!! To which he replied, "No problem...". Heh!

Anyway, the rest of the attendees this evening were no less impressive. I could sit there and just listen to them all day. He he he...

I will post the food pictures as soon as I get my hands on the cable. And yes, I will also include the recipe for my Aglio Olio.

Water, water and more water

Yesterday, the family and I went driving all the way to Sg. Gabai for a weekend spree to the waterfalls. I expected there'll be a lot of people, but never I imagined the roads, the river and the falls would be spitting humans! Good Lord!

Children running amok and screaming. Adults, well being adults. The men reading newspapers if not in the water with the kids. The women, doing what women do. Cook. Or preparing plates of nasi lemak. One thought came to me, "kesian". I mean, don't get me wrong. It's just a little unfair that the women still have to deal with the food preparation and not enjoying the getaway to the fullest. But maybe, for the mothers, the piercing scream of her children is enjoyment enough. The knowledge that the children are happy. I sincerely hope the husbands do not take the wives for granted and always tell them their are blessed to have them in their lives. A wishful thinking? I hope not.

Anyway, we knew we arrived late. There were no more parking, so we had to walk quite a distance to reach the falls. My brother said that we should go up to a higher spot but it seemed unlikely, since it would mean Abah won't be going up with us. So, we decided just to stand at the stairs and ate the junk food we brought. 20 minutes later we walked back to the car.

On the way to Gabai, I noticed a signboard of a
n AgroTek Resort. So, I alerted my brothers in the second car to watch for the sign board. We arrived at the place some 15 minutes later.

We had our lunch, ikan bakar kukus which I tell you, is delicious. I've always maintained that to know whether an eating place serves good food, you just have to try the nasi goreng cina. I was not disappointed. The fried rice was very tasty. We each ordered different drinks. There were watermelon, apple, orange and carrot juices. I ordered what was named "Beautiful Feeling" (green coloured).

Nasi Goreng Cina and Ikan Talapia Bakar/Kukus

Sup Sayur

The place itself was nice. There were chalets and halls for functions. I'm thinking of garden wedding... ha ha ha. Anyway, we didn't have the chance to explore the place since it started to rain. After letting the food set, we went back to the car and started the journey back. I'll let the pictures tell the rest.

The water from the hills. This used to be its own stream, but they put concrete alongside and underneath for safety of the children, or so they said. The actual waterfall is about 1km walk from the resort.

So, people, if you require a weekend getaway, or just plush greenery for a change, head to Agrotec Garden Chalet Resort in Hulu Langat.
